Only athletes of a certain level can understand what it takes to completely leave your personal life off the field and focus on the big W and Marquise Goodwin is absolutely one of them. Yesterday the 26-year-old San Fransico 49ers wide receiver scored an 83-yard touchdown just a mere hours after he and his wife lost their newborn son due to complications during the pregnancy.

Video captured of the moment shows Marquise collapse to his knees and put his face to the ground as his teammates surround him during the emotional scene. It wasn’t until the pro-athlete posted the message below on Instagram that the world realized the significance of the touchdown or him blowing a kiss toward the sky as he ran into the end zone.

“I just wanna thank those who’ve genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself through out this pregnancy,” Marquise wrote. “Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am. Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”

A few hours prior he posted a photo of himself in uniform writing, “If only you knew the load this bac (sic) has carried.”
