Renters Find Downtown Deals

(Chicago Sun Times) — Apartment owners are cutting more deals now that downtown is getting a new supply of units. The real estate firm Marcus & Millichap said that in the downtown area, landlords are offering an average of 1½ months’ free rent. The old standard used to be a month.  The firm said the dealmaking is causing people who would usually rent in the suburbs to look downtown.
