The work week wouldn’t be complete without a little scandal and we’ve found plenty by way of the ABC show of the same name. Thursday night Shonda had us thinking about characters we hadn’t seen in years, and showed us some even darker sides of characters we liked at one point like Jake and Mama Pope. We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling like Liv may want to join a dating service at this point because none of the men in her life are worth a darn.
In other news, Yandy freed her boo Mendeecees, for a reported $200,000, which got us thinking: could we stay with a man on the brink of doing hard time for more than 10 years? Bottom line: that’s a tricky question. But we’re talking about it and more in this episode of Did Y’all See. Weigh in and tell us what you think.
Being that Yandy seems to have the most sense on “Love and Hip Hop New York,” it was really difficult to see her go through the devastating experience of seeing Mendeecees Harris being carted off to jail, especially since the two had just gotten their love life together and welcomed their son Omere into the world.
So were excited to learn that Yandy had bailed Mendeecees out of jail. And we have to admit, it’s precious to see how the two are celebrating now that he’s a free man…at least for the time being.
Yandy and Mendeecees posted some pretty adorable pictures and a video.
Take a look.
In our exclusive interview with Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin, the couple answered all of those questions we’ve been dying to know. Chrissy talked about adjusting to having Jim’s son Pootie in their home. Jim’s body posture, which was practically horizontal thoughout the entire interview, changed drastically when she started talking about his son. The two talked about what’s going on with Mama Jones and even when they plan to get married and if they want children. Things only got a little rough when the subject of Yandy came up. Take a look at them in the video above.
And if you can’t get enough of Jimmy and Chrissy, catch them tonight on Vh1 for the season 2 premiere of “Chrissy and Mr. Jones,” which airs at 9/8c.
So who else partook in the foolery of last night’s Love and Hip Hop reunion (part I)? Don’t make us think we were the only ones! It was definitely the definition of messy. People’s incarcerated fiancés were having their private parts joked about, lie detector tests were administered, Olivia and Erica had a one-sided sing-off to determine who really needs to have the boring song “Where Do I Go From Here,” and Mona Scott-Young tried to prove she could be a good moderator by yelling at her employees like children. All in all, it was an entertaining hour to say the least. Here are a few things we took away from the 60 minutes of ratch — and if this isn’t enough, head here.
Two weeks ago, we gave you all an exclusive on the fight that went down between Rashidah Ali and Raqi during the “Love & Hip-Hop” reunion taping in New York, and from the sounds of things there may be some unfinished business. Rashidah stopped by MadameNoire’s office to send a little message to Raqi, post-brawl, and she also gave her two cents on the likelihood of Yandy and Mendeecees’ relationship lasting — not much — as well as Joe and Tahiry’s. And she even told us a few details about her boo and their upcoming nuptials. Check out the interview now.
If you were wondering when Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was coming back on air, it’s April 22nd. And after watching almost a full season of Love & Hip Hop New York I’m sure you were wondering, because this installment of the show, with a whole host of new faces, is just not hitting the spot for a lot of people. And that’s evident by the ratings that are coming in these days.
According to Shadow And Act, the series has brought in some of the lowest views of the L&HH shows in New York (this is the third season in NY by the way) and of course, it can’t compete with the Atlanta version that had no trouble pulling in more than three million viewers during its run last year. According to S&A, the very last episode of L&HHNY, which included a proposal from Mendeecees to Yandy, and the admission from Rich Dollaz’s ex that she had been messing with crazy Erica on the low-low, sexually that is, barely pulled in more than 1 million viewers. So what’s the problem?
If you ask a lot of folks around here, we’d say that the storyline is reaching a tad bit. If we’re not watching Jen The Pen cry about everything with Consequence, we’re watching Tahiry and Joe Budden do the same song and dance, pretending like they don’t love each other when they do even though he has a girlfriend (who we assume just likes being along for the ride), and who isn’t sick of watching Erica Mena act the fool in every situation? Hard as they may try, the drama with these folks is a bit extreme but still isn’t all that interesting compared to the simple yet ratchet love triangles in Atlanta, marital strife caused by career aspirations, relationships moving too fast, relationships gone sour…and K. Michelle. This dip in ratings shouldn’t be something Mona Scott-Young worries about though, because it will probably just make those who follow the Atlanta installment all the more ready to tune in come April. But as for this one here in NY, if Chrissy and Jim and Emily B aren’t involved, it’s just not the same. NEXT!
Why do you think ratings have dipped? Are people not feeling the cast? The storylines? Are they just tired of this show altogether?
If Raqi isn’t your favorite person on “Love & Hip-Hop,” she should’ve at least earned one point for asking a very legitimate question of Jen the Pen when it comes to raising her son as a Muslim: “You Guys Didn’t Think About This Before You Had A Baby?”
That actually is the appropriate question for a lot of things that were said on last night’s episode, whether the parents were Jen and Consequence or Yandy and Mendeeces. Check out our recap to see what all went down in Episode 4.
Reckless Reality Wrap-Up, LHH Episode 3: Is Yandy Really About To Marry A Man Still Liking Pics Of Underage Chicks On Instagram?
Last night’s episode of Love & Hip-Hop NY was a ball of couple confusion. Yandy has always presented herself as a woman about her business but it’s clear she doesn’t use quite as much discretion when it comes to picking her boos. Between claiming Mendeeces was the “perfect man” when they met, to blowing a gasket over him still liking pics of chicks on Instagram — and then saying she wants to see where their relationship goes before they get a place together, all we could think was (1) isn’t he on his way to jail?, and (2) shouldn’t you have thought about this before you had a child together?
Ah well, guess that’s how this goes in the cliche world of Love & Hip-Hop. Check out this wrap-up to see what all went down last night.
LOVE & HIP-HOP ATLANTA GETS HOT
“Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” has become one of the highest rated shows on VH1 because of all the ratchet ish that went down between the cast members. Steevie J, Joseline, and Mimi made this show what it is because of their confusing love triangle and some of the most unbelievable things happened right before our eyes that had nothing to do with love or hip-hop, just a group of people acting like they ain’t never been nowhere in front of the cameras. After watching just one episode, I can truly say I know how the saying “Where they do that at” came about. Welcome to Atlanta. Let’s do a quick recap to show you some of the craziest things that went down:
