It’s a tricky business being a woman- and when you add black as a prefix things can get real tangled. From childhood we quickly learn that there are all types of pressures and [double] standards we’re supposed to live up to. As a little girl child you may have taken a sip or two of the Kool-Aid, subscribing to the ideals, beliefs and behaviors that make you a lady. But as you get older and hopefully wiser you quickly learn that sometimes you have to forgo being a lady in order to be a woman. Everyone won’t like it but these epiphanies will make life a bit freer and more enjoyable.
