Such a simple song, but something about “Just In Case” hits the spot, day or night. The great vocals by Jaheim and his background singers make this song a winner, and the beat (suspiciously close to Next’s “Wifey”as someone on YouTube pointed out) can get your head bobbin’ or your feet moving. I’ll let you decide based on your setting how you will jam to this one, but I’m sure you will enjoy it one way or another. Shout out to Maia Campbell, as she played his better half in the dramatic video, and a big shout out to Jaheim’s stylist, who needed to be fired for the horrible bedazzled joints he was wearing from head to toe (but I do remember everyone wearing those blinged out bandanas back in the day). But great storyline, and wonderful message. Definitely take Jaheim’s words to heart, and let the person you love know how you feel…you know…just in case. Hola chicas! Dr. Phoenyx here again! And today’s discussion is about “getting that ring”- or more specifically, “are you ever going to get that ring?” Now I’m not knocking women that want to do the “Oprah thing,” but I know there are many of you that do desire the bliss of matrimony. And if marital bliss with your boo is the ultimate goal, then you need to start being realistic about where your relationship is truly headed- if anywhere at all.

I’m a die-hard romantic, but I’m also a realist. I’ve seen many cases of women who truly desire marriage, and do everything to satisfy their men, only to ultimately fall into the “wifey” trap. Now “wifey” may sound all cute and reassuring, but it’s bogus terminology invented by men that want to “claim” women without really claiming them. “Wifey” is just a glorified “girlfriend.” And it’s definitely not a “fiancé” or “wife.” You know, the chick that actually has a ring on her finger?
