Do Over! 5 Moments That Were Everything At The MTV VMAs
Last night there was a TV tug of war between the VMAs and the Democratic National Convention which means you likely missed a few moments from both events while flipping between channels. It’s quite possible you settled with the DNC over the mostly uneventful MTV Video Music Awards, but there were a few moments from the show that you definitely wouldn’t have wanted to miss. Here are the memorable highlights. (And if you missed most of the DNC watching MTV, see the best moments from the convention here.)
Rihanna Get’s Groped
We could probably name a few thousand men who would’ve loved to rub up on Ri Ri on stage, but yesterday that lucky man was A$Ap Rocky. While performing “Cockiness” the rapper got a lil cocky himself and took a nice hearty grab out of Rihanna’s backside before almost slobbing a wet one on her neck. The only thing that was missing from the performance was the camera pan to see Chris Brown and Drake’s reaction.

By now you’ve probably seen that Rihanna has once again gone short, sporting a neat, new pixie “do” at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. RiRi’s cropped coiff looked youthful as the fresh-faced beauty made quite an entrance in a white hot Adam Selman gown at the Staples Center in L.A. before she hit the stage to kick off the evenings performances.
There were a number of other memorable manes too. Here are pics of some of our favorite stars:
That Would Be Really Triflin’: MTV Hoping For Chris Brown-Rihanna-Drake Drama at VMAs?
I know TV networks are thirsty for anything that will bring ratings up, but I’d prefer if MTV didn’t try to go The Source Awards route with their upcoming Video Music Awards in LA September 6.
Apparently, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and Drake will all be under one roof for the event, and we already know the potential for something to pop off there is pretty high. Drake and Chris Brown just had a nasty brawl at a NYC club not that long ago that was reportedly over Rihanna; Chris Brown and Rihanna are still some kind of homie-lover-friends; and Rihanna is in Drake’s “Take Care” video which has been nominated for an award. Plus, as a source told Us Weekly:
”Notice Drake and Chris are both up for Best Male Video.”
If Rihanna isn’t enough to get the boys’ testosterone pumping, musical competition definitely will. So where does MTV come into all of this? Well, the source also told Us Weekly:
“They [the network] are hoping a fight breaks out. Ratings galore!”
I need that not to be true just as much as I need both rappers/singers to keep their egos in check in a couple of weeks at the VMAs. I highly doubt either one of them would get so out of control as to show their tails during an award show, but stranger things have happened (see Source Awards reference). Breezy really doesn’t need the negative publicity and I really don’t think the network does either. Let’s just hope this source is lying about MTV’s ratchet wish list.

Beyonce’s Baby News Steals the Show
(The Grio) — Beyonce and Jay-Z’s spawn doesn’t even have a name yet, but it was the indisputable breakout star of Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. Beyonce stole the show before it even began when she announced on the black carpet that after more than three years of marriage, the dazzling couple had produced the ultimate all-star collaboration. Dressed in a loose fitting, off-the-shoulder red-gown, she clutched the baby bump that so many celeb-watchers had been predicting since the two wed. Her publicist later confirmed the pregnancy to The Associated Press. Later, Beyonce performed “Love on Top,” and if Twitter hadn’t already spread the news, her outfit gave clues to her impending motherhood; instead of her typical Hot outfits, she dressed in conservative spangled tux — but still danced around in her signature stilettos.
