Tragic Black Female Rapper Stereotype: Nicki Minaj Calls Steven Tyler’s “Idol” Criticism Of Her Racist

WENN

Another week, and sadly it seems that Nicki Minaj has found herself in a beef with another public figure. I tell you, ever since Nicki joined “American Idol,” it’s like she keeps sharing these Twitter rants with the world and the critics of her are coming out of the woods.

Steven Tyler, frontman of legendary group Aerosmith and a former “American Idol” host during the boring Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez years sat down with MTV News and was asked about what he thought of all the controversy surrounding the newest judges on “Idol.” He felt like it takes away from the point of the show–to help find and cultivate the talents of ambitious singers looking for their big break. As he told MTV News:

“I know that they’ve got something going on on the judges’ panel, [and] it shouldn’t be that, it should be just the opposite: They should have something going on, which is called ‘camaraderie.’ They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that’s trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by ‘entertainment’ factors, it needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the ‘it’ factor. Not the ‘it’ factor because they can fight. The f— is that all about?”

And what Tyler had to say made a lot of sense, as all the drama from a few months back was a distracting mess. However, things went a bit left when Tyler commented on the fact that I assume he felt like with himself, Lopez and Jackson as judges, they found the best talent and also brought the best out of the contestants. However, this time around, he doesn’t think the new judges will work to bring out the best in the contestants. He specifically came for the Nickster:

“You just have to give your opinion. It wasn’t hard for me, but I would imagine it’s hard for some people, and they need a manager to say ‘Shut the f— up, and just give them your opinion. These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they’re in New York City, they’re scared to death; you’re not going to get the best [out of them]. … If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”

Well, Nicki didn’t take too kindly to these comments when she found out, and she gave Tyler a piece of her mind via a barrage of Tweets for assuming that she doesn’t know Bob Dylan or wouldn’t like someone with his talents, and blamed it on the fact that she is a black rapper. She kindly told Tyler to go f**k himself:

Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!

I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment

You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go F**k yourself and worry about yourself babe.

LOL lets make him a shirt that says “No Coloreds Allowed” then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns

When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge.

Well, there it is. I definitely think that Tyler unfairly came for Nicki’s head, and she does have a point about him claiming what she will and won’t do and like when he hasn’t even seen her judge anyone, so that’s not cool. But really, what’s up with the “Let’s get him a No Coloreds Allowed” shirt statement? Left much? I didn’t get that vibe from his comments, just a bit of shade. But if Nicki wants to respond to her critics, she needs to keep it short and simple like Rihanna and just tell these folks to “grow a d**k,” because the victim stance with the back to back Tweets isn’t really working. While I’m sure Nicki joined “Idol” to expand her fan base and make that nasty money, it seems that being on this judge’s table is doing her and her rep more harm than good, because every time we turn around she’s trying to defend herself from somebody. The mainstream isn’t as welcoming as she might have thought…

Brace Yourself: Karrine Steffans Talks Weezy, Hubby, and What She Actually Does for a Living

I don’t know about you, but I’m most interested in that last statement because although Karrine Steffans can technically call herself a best-selling author, no one really knows how she keeps the checks rolling in after exposing her sexcapades in the industry back in 2005.

Seven years removed from the video vixen exposay, Karrine does manage to keep herself somewhat relevant the same way most people who are famous but really shouldn’t be do—Twitter—especially when those suspect tweets are speculated to be about her husband, and when they’re not about him, they’re about Lil Wayne. This is why The Jasmine Brand caught up with the video model to essentially see what her purpose is in life and what men are a part of it. Here’s what she had to say:

On what she does for a living

“I get this question a lot because I think people want me to define my brand and myself and people cant seem to get a grasp on me what I’m doing and why. I can’t define myself. I’m indefinable. I do what I do. I’m just living my life the way that I live my life. There are a lot of businesses that I own. I do a lot of everything and so if I’m able to share that some of it I can’t, some of it I’m just starting to share now and I do. I just don’t think that I can be defined; I don’t think anyone should be defined and put into a box because you begin to think that you are only this one thing. I just live my life and I do some of that publicly.”

Whether she’s really getting a television show on Fox

“The president of the studio wanted me to write a show. We’ve been friends for 11-12 years now. I’m consistently turning down the president of a major studio. I don’t want to write a show because I feared that, it’s something I’ve never done. Finally, he showed me how to write a show and we started. He optioned the Vixen Manual then I wrote the script for that pilot which I just got finished after 2 years. I went through 10-12 drafts. Everyone in the studio has to agree and like everything. It took 2 years and 10 versions before it was ready to go out. Were deciding on the network currently for the Vixen Manual Show and I’m [going to] keep the title to myself, for now. I recently signed another development deal with FOX for Confessions and now has to be optioned for 1 hour long. My executive director can not be exposed quite yet due to contract purposes but I’m super happy to have her. I have two development deals and two television shows underway. It will hit the screen but I don’t know when, television takes forever. I couldn’t work with any other writer but chances are Vixen Manual will probably come sooner because the script is complete. After development then production and we will still have to go in for pick-ups. I have no way of knowing when it will hit the screen.”

On her outrageous tweets

“Everything is strategic. There are no accidents happening. When I tweet outrageous stuff it’s for marketing purposes. Everything is business!”

Whether her pregnancy tweets were about Lil Wayne

“Wait! What!? I’ve never tweeted that. Get the f**k out of here. Who said that? That’s impossible. Me and Wayne don’t have a sexual relationship. We haven’t had once since before my first husband. I’m one of the few women who hasn’t been pregnant by Wayne. YOOOOO! That’s so super off! It’s important for people to understand that I’m not going to tweet about my life every 5 seconds. I’ll tweet erotic s**t and random randomness but not everything I tweet about is about me. It’s only the internet. I live above the influence- not even a possibility!”

Whether Wayne is bothered by her tweeting about him all the time

“No, but we did have a conversation the other day about something he heard about, that didn’t actually happen. It ended well. He was having an emotional moment, God bless his soul. I told him, I’m not a fan, I’m your friend and he said something that didn’t make sense but he apologized.”

If she’s still married (despite tweeting she filed for divorce)

“Yes, I am still with my husband. We are not divorced, we are not getting divorced- at this time. Tomorrow is a whole another day. As of right now, were good.”

Whether her famous tired twitter rant was about him

“My husband is very new, he is very green. When I did my first tweet, everyone thought I was talking about my husband and some bulls***t blog put all these tweets together and said I wrote a letter to my husband. Why would I do that on twitter? This is crazy! You’re an idiot! It was random tweets I HATE YOU … random randomness. One of the lines was “give back my MAC computer,” that tweet as random as it was, came from the Monica and Brandy song when it first came out. That’s a line from that song. My husband went online and read these things and he was upset. Honey, you’re not my fan your my husband. But I had just gave him my MACbook and he was using my MAC at the time. But now he’s good and he gets it.”

On her “legacy”

“To keep coming back for more. I think for me and I think about this alot when I’m dead what are they gonna say, I’m so fearless and I spend so much of my life being afraid of everything and everybody. I want my legacy to be one that broke free of fear and stopped caring about anybody but me. I don’t care what anybody thinks or feels, I only care about me and learning that it’s actually the right way to me. Fearless and Selfish.”

I’ll give her points for claiming to be one of the very few women who hasn’t been pregnant by Wayne, but everything else she says just screams bird…. I’m actually surprised she hasn’t landed a reality show yet.

You can read more from her interview and the inspiration behind her new book, Drink, F***, Sleep on The Jasmine Brand. Thoughts?
