No Future In Fronting: Nick Cannon Finally Tells Why He Dumped Kim K. Back In The Day

You can always count on Howard Stern to get the nitty gritty details out of folks. In last Tuesday’s interview with the shock jock, Nick opened up about many things from practicing celibacy during his relationship with now wife Mariah Carey prior to them saying “I do,” as well as his TMI moment when he revealed that he gets off to Mariah’s music when she’s away. The Examiner is reporting that Nick also revealed why he broke up with Kim Kardashian back in the day. If you recall, the two dated back in 2006 just before her sex tape with Ray J hit the net. He says their break up was actually linked to the tape.

“This was my issue,” said Cannon. “We talked about this tape…And she told me there was no tape. If she might have been honest with me I might have tried to hold her down and be like ‘That was before me’ because she is a great girl. She’s actually one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape?

Nick also revealed that he believes she may have had a hand in the tape getting leaked in the first place.

“And I still think she might have even had a part to play with it,” he added.

When Howard referred to Kim as the “world’s most famous p*rn star” due to the common idea that Kim’s sex tape is what ultimately launched her reality television career Nick responded:

“I think she’s a great businesswoman if you ask me.”

We can totally respect Nick’s reasoning. The past is the past, but you begin to blatantly lie to your partner, and things generally begin to go south. There’s no use crying over spilled milk though. It seems that both Nick and Kim have moved on since then and are both in loving relationships.

What do you think of Nick’s revelation?

So…Kim K.’s Had An Epiphany: Kanye West Is The NEW Man Of Her Dreams

Breaking news, right? This is just one of many gems that came out of the highly suspect Kardashian interview that aired on OWN last night. Kim got Oprah to drink the Kardashian kool-aid by explaining that she’s now a changed woman—partially because of her disastrous 72-day marriage, she says. The other reason is the guy in the pic above.

The reality TV star stood by her declaration that she didn’t marry Kris Humphries for TV ratings, saying that the NBA player was a part of the “fairytale” that she always pictured for her life, but now it appears she’s writing a new story, courtesy of Kanye to the. Here’s what she said on OWN:

“I’m totally growing up. And even the people that I surround myself with, my friends or the people that I love to just sit and talk to and spend my time with are wiser, and a little bit older than me where before all my boyfriends were younger. I always dated five years younger. Now, I love that I am with someone that’s a couple years older than me. I love that my friends are even sometimes 20 or 30 years older than me and I can sit in their company and enjoy their experiences.  I feel like I’ve had an epiphany over the last year from what I’ve been through and I am a changed person through my own experiences.”

The interview ends with Oprah asking Kim if Kanye is her new fairytale, and of course the answer is left dangling in the wind to get viewers to tune back in next Sunday, but if I had to put something on her answer, I’d bet quite a bit that it’s a yes. Oh, and for the record, Kim’s 31 and Kanye’s 35. I’m wondering if one of those older friends she’s referring to is Jay-Z’s 42-year-old self.

Anyway, Kim and Oprah hit on a couple of other topics too like why she was on birth control at 14, the infamous sex tape that introduced her to the world, and the “deep depression” she says she went through after her divorce. Oprah also asked the whole gang how they feel about claims that their mother is pimping them out for money. Like good boys and girls, they responded that they’ve never felt exploited by mama Jenner. I guess.

Check out clips from part one of the special here. Do you think Kanye’s changed Kim?

Does This Help At All? Oprah Explains Why She Interviewed The Kardashians

Most of us have already figured out why Oprah’s really interviewing the Kardashians, but telling people she sold her soul to the reality TV devil just to keep her drowning network afloat likely wouldn’t fly for her brand. Hence, Oprah’s come up with a more earth mother, journalistic explanation for her controversial interview that she hopes will quiet the sellout backlash that’s been directed her way. Here’s what she wrote in a personal message to viewers:

Ok my friends I had the longest interviewing session I can ever recall, talking to ALLLLLLLL the Kardashians. I had never met them, nor seen the show. I did a full on Kardashian Kram in preparation, watching major shows from every season. I genuinely wanted to know why they have become a cultural phenomenon? Why do so many people love to watch their every move and why do so many others love to hate them. Are they completely ego centered? Are they really “famous for being famous” or is there something more?

I “GOT IT” … those answers +more. Those of you who watch the show know they hold nothing back. This interview I’d say was another level of forthrightness and honesty. Who surprised me the most? Scott. Lamar and Khloe. Kim.

Everyone who’s asked was the marriage a publicity stunt? Why did she leave after 72 days? Her answer leveled me.

Please note that this show will air Sunday at 8/7 central not its usual time. Followed by Part 2 of my conversation with 50 Cent at 9/8c where he talks about things you wouldn’t imagine coming from him. Meditation. Outgrowing his audience. What really matters now. I had a great eye opening experience with him and released a lot of my preconceived notions and judgement. I’m loving this NEXT CHAPTER I get to do for myself what I intended for you the audience: Open the heart space, expand the way we see things, especially each other.

A great day on OWN beginning with Super Soul Sunday at 11am/10c with Devon Franklin (thanks for your many “likes” on that one), hope you’ll tune in. An insightful visit with the Kardashians, every single one of them except 2 year old Mason. Then FIF.

Oprah

Fif? She’s really rocking this pop culture thing now isn’t she? Oprah has clearly gotten caught up in the Kardashian magic. She sounds like Star Jones after she sat down and talked to Evelyn—something about these shady characters just captivates people and turns them from enemies into friends instantly.

I can’t imagine anyone of the siblings saying anything different from what we’ve already heard from one of the zillion interviews they’ve done before, but Oprah obviously seems to think so.

Check out the promo clip here. Will you watch Sunday?

Don’t Be Desperate, Oprah: 5 Television Programs That Could Save OWN

So I just read that Oprah Winfrey is doing another Oprah Presents The Next Chapter special in which she will sit down with the Kardashian-Jenner family, including Lamar Odom and Scott Disick, for an interview about…well…why are the Kardashians famous again?

Oh I forgot, sex tape, then reality shows and then Kanye West. Got it.

Anyway, this interview is on the heels of another sit down she did last week with 50 Cent, who once was in a very public, and pretty much one-sided, beef with the former queen of daytime talk. Yeah, that 50 Cent, who maliciously dogged Vivica A. Fox publicly and once paid another rapper’s baby mother to make a sex tape as revenge. The same rapper that regularly calls women b*****s and ho*s and named his female dog Oprah. Yet and still he got to sit on a plush sofa and pontificate about his “next chapter” with his former nemesis. I smell desperation. And it sure is funky.

Some of y’all may think I’m being too harsh on Oprah.  After all, it is not easy building a brand and a network from the ground up. But truth be told, Oprah has always been a shero of mine since way back when she was rocking the Patti LaBelle-hair and the dresses with the extra prominent shoulder pads. I can honestly say that I consider Oprah one of my close girlfriends – in my head of course. Therefore as a good girlfriend, I’m going to tell you and her the truth: Stop interviewing people and get some damn TV shows.  I know that your claim to fame has always been your ability to get exclusive interviews and get the famous and infamous to open up about their lives, but no one is trying to watch that for 24 hours straight.  It’s like you took that one trick pony and beat it until it was a dead horse. Time to diversifying the lineup and actually put forward some scripted or non-scripted programming. Programming that doesn’t have the words “Oprah Presents…” or “Master Class…” or “Life Lessons…” in the titles – because if I wanted to be educated and inspired, I’d turn off the television and go read a book.

SO in an effort to keep you from scraping the bottom of the celebrity barrel again for interviews in the future, I have five programming suggestions, which I feel could go a long way not only in raising the ratings on your fledgling network but in an effort to keep people tuned in:

Is This What She’s Reduced To? Oprah’s Interviewing The Kardashians for OWN

I really had been sympathetic to Oprah’s plight with OWN, but as usual I was late to the I’m done with her party. When everyone else was calling her a sellout for her “groundbreaking” interviews, I thought she was being a good journalist but after hearing about her Kardashian-Jenner special that’s airing on OWN Sunday, I’m done with her.

It’s not so much that the Kardashians are horrible people, it’s just this is such an obvious last-ditch effort to birng views of any kind to her network, which we all know is struggling, but still, the Kardashians? I’m pretty sure she would have never had them on her talk show which is why I’m annoyed that they’ll be on her “Oprah’s Next Chapter” special Sunday at 8pm.

According to MSN, eight members of the klan will be on-set: Kris and Bruce Jenner, their kids, Khloe, Kim, and Kourtney, of course, and even Lamar Odom and Scott Disick. I imagine Mason will be there too. I’m having a hard time figuring out what next chapter this group will be talking about considering they’ve been doing the same thing for about five years now, just making more money at it, but they apparently managed to come up with 30 minutes of content. After the Kardashian interview, the second part of Oprah’s sit down with 50 Cent will air.

I think Oprah is taking a big gamble with this one though. This family definitely doesn’t appeal to her target demographic and the other shows she has on the network won’t be enough to keep the extra viewers that tune in to watch the Kardashians Sunday night. I understand going all out to save her channel but you still need to think strategically—and smartly.

What do you think about Oprah interviewing the Kardashians?

Funny (OR Sad) Photo of the Day: Wonder What Kanye’s Thinking…?

April 24th, 2012 - By Clarke Gail Baines

Oh, the hilarity of it all. Yeezy has officially been made into a Stepford husband Kardashian. During the opening of Scott Disick’s (Kourtney’s man) new Japanese-themed restaurant, RYU, in NYC, the gang was there flashing their brightened smiles and smirks and holding on to their arm candy (Note: that is Kim’s friend Jonathan Cheban next to Kris, not Bruce…). And while they are all relishing in the flashing lights and filming one of their many reality shows at the same time, check out Yeezy in the middle looking really lost. Or less than enthused might be a better way to look at it. He could be thinking, “What the hell did I get myself into?” He could also be thinking, “Must look hard in the midst of all these happy mutha*****s!”  Or, he also could be thinking, “Yes, this is cray indeed.” You’re right imaginary Kanye thought, it is cray. No matter what he’s thinking, who really thought they’d see the day where the Louis Vuitton Don would be keeping up with the Kardashians?

It’s only the beginning of their “relationship,” but if Yeezy plans on being Kim’s arm candy, he better be ready to have the cameras in his face like never, ever before. And granted, he’s probably used to the flash bulbs following, as they did with his previous girlfriends, but when you have a boo that survives off of running fake errands to run into the paps, things are bound to get more intense. But hey, this is what he gets for messing with the media’s biggest attention hound. Love and like what you want, but this union still just has a funny smell to it. As they raise their glasses in the photo, here’s to hoping it’s a huge publicity stunt. Otherwise…*Kanye shrug*

(Eurweb.com) — Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Lamar Odom and his reality star wife Khloe Kardashian are releasing a new unisex fragrance. Named Unbreakable, the scent features chocolaty notes that work for both genders, according to People.com.  “He’s always wanted a unisex fragrance!,” Khloé recently told E! online about her NBA player hubby. “It took a long time to create what we both wanted and would wear and love, and we found the perfect one.”
