Pass Or Play? The Dream & Beyonce Get “Turnt” For His New Single

While it might have been a bit unnecessary, we can see why singer/songwriter The Dream publicly distanced himself from Keyshia Cole after she criticized Beyoncé’s “Bow Down.” He knows King Bey is that money maker and it would be career suicide to go against the machine. So, it really comes as no surprise at all that Beyonce’s featured on The Dream’s latest album IV Play. After all, The Dream says she’s family. You know black folk love a play cousin. Anyway the song, “Turnt,” also features 2 Chainz and gives all parties involved a chance to display their less than professional, (read: ratchet) sides. (Not that The Dream and 2 Chainz ever stray too far from that anyway.)
Though the song is called “Turnt” don’t expect a head banger. It has more of a winding, slow grind feel. In the song Beyoncé confronts a potential suitor: “Talking ’bout you gon’ kill it/beat it up till I black out.”
And then The Dream comes in talking about what he and the ladies want in a man or woman. “I need that black leather, when it’s hot outside, in the summertime. She need that cocky, ready to back…”
He even goes to so far as to explain how the ladies approach him: “She said you the reason why all of these cute girls got babies.”
Ha! He ain’t never lied. He does tend to reproduce with very attractive women…and then dip. Ratchet indeed.
Check out a snippet of the song below.
You can listen to the whole album by pre-ordering on iTunes. The album hits shelves Tuesday, May 28th.
So what do you think is this song hot fire or is it a hot mess?
Make It Last! Celebrity Couples We Wanted To Work
Although they broke up and moved on with other people, we just can’t seem to get over these high-profile celebrity relationships that we thought were a match made in heaven. Here are 15 celebrity couples that we wish could have stood the test of time.
Kanye and Alexis
Before there was Kanye West and Kim Kardashian or even Kanye and Amber Rose, there was Kanye and Alexis. The Chicago rapper/producer met Alexis Phifer back in 2002 and the cute couple dated on and off for four years before West finally popped the question. After an 18-month whirlwind engagement the two went their separate ways citing his hectic touring schedule as the cause. West dated then-unknown model Amber Rose before settling down with the reality show superstar who is now pregnant with their first child.

Ever since I heard the slowed beat of Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo” drop, I instantly had Ciara’s latest single “Body Party” on repeat. I knew the video would feature her slithering and sliding in moves that would keep EMTs busy for weeks as women across the country blew out their backs and pulled hamstrings trying to imitate the moves for their men.
I wasn’t disappointed when Ciara scissored her legs in the air for boyfriend Future as they play out how they first met for the video, but it was like deja-vu as I saw her relationship slowly steal the spotlight from her first two singles. Is it me, or does something happen to a recording artist when they fall in love and choose to flaunt it in their work? After watching Ciara’s steamy video for “Body Party,” I couldn’t help but wonder if she’s risking the buzz she’s worked so hard to build back by allowing boyfriend, Future, to make so many appearance.
Mixing business and pleasure is a risky move. There’s something about when celebs turn the camera on to their personal lives that causes their careers and their relationships to fall apart. Here are a few celebs who might want to think about leaving their boo behind-the-scenes in the future.

1. J.Lo
J.Lo had a pretty good buzz going as a singer even if her “hits” were only heard in the clubs, but as soon as Ben Affleck took J.Lo from the block to the yacht in her Jenny From the Block vid, Jenny’s singing career went man down for a minute and she was left man-less and a little embarrassed. Not to mention Ben credited the cameo with almost ruining his career. And who can forget how clearly sprung she was on the track “Dear Ben,” in which she sings,” I love you, you’re perfect.” Well apparently the feelings weren’t mutual; Ben quickly married another Jennifer after their break up and made like 11 kids with her. Sting. Word of advice for the former fly girl: You can sing all the love songs you want about your boo, just don’t name them after him and throw said boo in all your videos.
Is It Really That Deep Though? The-Dream Says He Can’t Work With Keyshia Cole Again After “Bow Down” Comments

I guess The-Dream is feeling some sort of way about Keyshia Cole’s Twitter comments about Beyoncé’s song “Bow Down,” because he went on the radio this week and basically said that musically, he can’t rock with her right now.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club (Power 105.1), singer/songwriter let it be known that her opinions were for some reason, too disrespectful to warrant him getting in the studio with the “Trust and Believe” singer in the future. When asked by DJ Envy if he takes the people he works with and their beefs seriously, and if he could do a record for Cole since all that mess happened, he had this to say:
“Right now because of what happened, I can’t. I think she would respect why I can’t. That’s my family.”
When asked again if he she came calling would he say “Bow Down” and hang up (womp), he said no and replied, “You have a grown up conversation, like ‘Yo, you talking about my family.’
Surprisingly, Cole responded via Twitter of course, and respectfully made it clear that she will be fine without his musical contributions…trust and believe that! (had to do it.)
“Dream not writing any songs for me is fine…Im on my 6th album…He’s only wrote 1 song on 1 of my albums, which I did love, God Bless”
That song, if you were wondering, was from her latest album, Woman to Woman and is called “Hey Hot.”
The-Dream definitely doesn’t have to work with people he doesn’t feel like, but it’s just weird that so many adults take the things people say about Beyoncé so much to heart when SHE doesn’t even think it’s worth it to respond. Her man doesn’t even bat an eye as far as we can tell, so I would recommend Mr. Terius Nash quit playing and take whatever checks are coming his way and write those songs, because that drama is between them. As a wise…or silly man once said, “Your name is Bennett, and you ain’t in it.”

The Streets Are Talking: Is Nivea Pregnant With Lil Wayne’s Baby?

Rumor has it that 31 year old R&B singer/baby maker Nivea is with child once again. And the streets are saying that it’s Lil Wayne’s baby. Well, maybe it’s not so much the streets as it is Nivea herself. Supposedly, at Nivea’s recent birthday celebration, someone overheard her telling another guest that Wayne was excited about the new baby. If this is true this will be Nivea’s fifth child. She has three from her marriage to The Dream and one from Lil Wayne born in 2009.
You may not remember but Nivea was actually with Lil Wayne before she married The Dream. Back in July 2003, she told Sister2Sister Magazine how Wayne proposed to her around Christmas time in 2002:
[He said] ‘I got your Christmas present with me and you’re gonna love it. It’s gonna make you smile. He got down on his knee and he was like, ‘I know I’m young, but I’ve been through enough relationships to know and understand the meaning of what love is.’ He was just perfect. He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and he loved me. It was snot and tears at the same time.”
She went on to tell the magazine that if she didn’t marry Wayne, she would die a single woman. But that’s not exactly how it went down. When Wayne called off their engagement in December of 2003, to rekindle his relationship with ex-wife Antonia Wright (Toya), Nivea moved on and ended up marrying The Dream in 2004. The couple had a daughter in 2005 and twin sons in 2006. They divorced in 2007 when The Dream claimed that he “didn’t want to take this person [Nivea] and treat them a certain way based on what I was changing into, based on being bitter.”
Severe side eye.
After that, Nivea reconnected with Wayne, though he had gotten his ex girlfriend, Lauren London pregnant. After Nivea gave birth to their son Neal Carter in 2009, the couple got engaged again. And broke it off in 2010. On her Myspace page, she confirmed that Young Money singer Shanell Woodget was the reason behind their split. “Mood: betrayed Wanting everyone to know that Shanell (the background Slore that sings with Lil Wayne) is a piece of trash and not to be respected!”
Man what a story. This is certainly a VH1 movie…
‘Of Course I Have Suits In My Closet:’ The Dream Responds To Jay-Z’s Comments On His Grammy Awards Getup
Grammy night is almost always filled with outrageous attire worn by celebrities that are sometimes still remembered and talked about years and years down the line. Although risqué, barely there clothing worn by Hollywood’s divas are generally the talk of the town following the highly anticipated awards show, this year was a bit different. Mega-producer and singer The Dream graced the red carpet rocking a black Boyz N The Hood snapback cap on top of a black and white skully cap that read: “Parental Advisory”. As he approached the stage to receive the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award along with Jay-Z and Frank Ocean for their collaboration on “No Church In The Wild”, Jay didn’t miss a beat when he approached the mic, clowning The Dream for his unlikely getup.
“I’d like to thank the swap meet for his hat,” Jay humorously stated, sending the audience into a roaring fit of laughter.
Of course, since then, media outlets everywhere have been instigating, hoping to provoke The Dream into snapping back at Jay-Z for his comments, but the “radio killa” isn’t taking the bait. He recently came out urging everyone to take it easy because Jay’s comments weren’t that serious and that it was just a joke between two friends that happened to be shared on national television.
“I don’t know if people really know how much time we spend around each other. There’s a thing like, ‘Oh that’s the first time he’s around him and that’s what Jay feels about him.’ We’re around each other joking all the time. It’s not like he wouldn’t say that. He would say that whether the TV is on or not,” he told Hot 109.7′s Qdeezy.
He went on to express that he selected that particular outfit to stand out and poke fun at the award show’s issued regulations regarding the attire of its attendees:
“Of course I have suits in my closet that I could have put on. I could have looked like everybody else that was there. I could have did that. Actually, we made the best TV moment that’s been on the Grammys in a long time. I don’t mind taking a joke or a jab. That’s cool. I’ll get Jay back.[...] All that means is that Jay’s in debt and he owes me like, three rap verses.”
Well, looks like that’s settled.

Some girls dream about that special sacred union since they’re very small; hopeful that one day they’ll be clad in a long white gown, adorned with jewels and flowers, and surrounded by a plethora of family and friends . This ceremony is hoped to be beautiful and magical, and the love between the two who are marrying is supposed to last forever.
Maybe.
One thing that Hollywood has made abundantly clear is that marriage is not meant for eternity, in fact, some marriages are over before the credits, on a feature length film, can roll.
