A diva is the female version of a hustler. – Beyonce

Looking at celebrities, it’s quite easy to see the glitz and glam, but not the hard work it took to achieve success. There definitely are some who have it a little easier as they might come from wealth, or had a guaranteed foot in the door. There are, however, many who had to work hard to build their brand after failed ventures, personal struggles, or whatever else made their road to success bumpy.

The name of the game is longevity and it often comes by diversifying both your talents and reach. If you have been looking for ideas to grow your business opportunities, take a look at these celebs and how they grew their empires.

Where Have You Been? Black Actresses Whose Talents Need To Be On The Big-Screen More Often

actresses

There are some actresses (i.e,. Halle Berry, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington) who get all of the glory, and there are some that don’t get nearly as much recognition. Phenomenal acting abilities have gone with a lack of praise while mediocre performances by non-black women are seen as unparalleled (even when they’re just okay…). You can Google lists of top black actresses, and find that while those women are great at what they do, a great deal of them haven’t even had a leading role in years (if at all). Maybe they’ve decided to take a break from acting, or maybe they are just struggling to grab those big roles, but it’s about time that Hollywood is reminded that there are strong black actresses in Hollywood, and these women need to have their faces back in somebody’s movie sooner than later.

Kill The Ignorance: Tamera Addresses Ignorant Comments About Her Marriage & Baby’s Race

I guess the trolls will never learn that when it comes to coming for people on the internet, their children, even if they are the children of celebrities, should be off limits. Unfortunately, the desire to be seen, to elicit a reaction is stronger than the desire to show even a modicum of human decency. Like her sister before her, Tamera Mowry, is the latest celebrity enduring criticism of her new baby boy, Aden. “Fans” and critics (read: Trolls) of Tamera have recently made some rude and disrespectful comments regarding her interracial marriage to Fox News correspondent, Adam Housley. And now that the couple  have expanded their family, these same people are now insulting her son by questioning (?) his skin color.

On the blog that she and twin sister Tia created, Tia and Tamera Official, Tamera decided that instead of addressing the critics, she’d respond to the people who left comments of support and encouragement.

Here’s what she had to say:

Tia and I have always known we have amazing fans, but reading all your messages and comments on this blog make it even clearer.  When people say ignorant things about Aden’s race or my marriage with his daddy Adam, it’s easy for me to take it personally – even after all this time, my skin isn’t that thick!

But hearing your stories about your own beautiful, mixed race babies and the love you have for their fathers grounds me back to reality and reminds me of the truth: Skin color has NOTHING to do with love.  How Aden looks or grows up to look like – whether he looks more “white” or more “black” – doesn’t matter to me.  Why should it? He’s my precious baby boy and my only job is to be the best mommy I can be to him while showing him both sides of his heritage.  All I want for him to believe is that love knows no boundaries.

Way to keep it classy and Tamera.

‘Having Nephews Is The Best Birth Control:’ Tahj Mowry Says He Won’t Be About That Baby Life Anytime Soon

The lovely ladies over at Sister 2 Sister recently caught up with one of Hollywood’s favorite little brothers, Tahj Mowry, just as he made his way down the red carpet at the ESSENCE Black Women In Music Event. When asked how seeing his sisters with his nephews has impacted his own desire for children, he gave a hilariously truthful response.

“Well, the marriage will definitely come before the baby, not just because that’s the way I want to do it. But, because my mom will beat my a**…  I’m in no rush. I’m taking the steps. I got a girlfriend, so that’s good. I always joke with people that having nephews is the best birth control there is. And you know, the show I’m on, we have babies as well. So I’m constantly surrounded by babies and I do not want my own right now.”

“There’s something so great about playing with your nephew and then like, when you’re tired, you like hand him off back to your sister. ‘Here you go, mom!’ But. I’m a great uncle. I spoil them like crazy. I love being an uncle,” Tahj said.

I suppose he has his baby guru, parenting-advice slanging older sisters, Tia and Tamera, who each gave birth to baby boys within the past two years, to thank for that. Tahj’s response is humorous but, true. He seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. In case you’ve been wondering what he’s been up to, he currently has a role in the ABC Family sitcom, Baby Daddy. It’s so hard to believe that he’s the same little boy from 90′s sitcom, Smart Guy. He’s grown up nicely.

Check out the video of Tahj’s hilarious interview on the next page. What do you think of his response?

“My Breast Milk Was Sweeter Than Tamera’s Placenta” The Mowry Twins Continue The Motherly Sharing

You might not have known that this was “a thing,” but apparently there are increased health benefits, including better breast milk production, from ingesting your placenta after you give birth. So maybe that’s why Tamera had the hospital preserve hers after she had her son Aden.

But as you know, these two share everything. Just like Tia made Tamera taste her breast milk, shortly after Cree was born, Tamera pushed her placenta on Tia. Naturally, it was a bit of a harder sell but mixing it with brandy was the key to get Tia to swallow.

On StyleNetwork’s site, this is what Tia had to say about the whole ordeal.

Tasting Tamera’s encapsulated placenta was very interesting! If you think about it too much, you’re not going to like it, because all you’re going to think about is that you’re consuming placenta. But I was really, really surprised that it tasted pretty good mixed with a little bit of alcohol. It was definitely Tamera paying me back for making her taste my breast milk. I tasted my own breast milk and I still think my breast milk was sweeter than Tamera’s placenta!

Watch the video of Tia tasting here.

If you had a sister, would you taste her placenta? Why or why not?

Awww Look At Tamera Mowry’s Baby Boy Aden!

Talk about an exclusive! Just Monday, Tamera Mowry and her husband Adam Housely just welcomed their little boy Aden John Tanner into the world and already they’ve released pics of their little man to In Touch. Perhaps what’s even more surprising than seeing pics of little Aden so soon is how alert the cutie is at 1 or 2 days old!

Tamera’s baby was originally due on Halloween but her pregnancy went another full two weeks with the actress and reality star dropping her bundle of joy November 12. She told In Touch while she was waiting for Aden she tried to induce labor with natural remedies like drinking pineapple juice, evening primrose oil, a glass of wine and even dancing, squatting, and eating spicy food.

“I seriously feel like I have been pregnant forever,” Tamera told the mag several weeks ago. “Almost 10 months to be exact! Thirty-nine weeks in and no baby yet. ‘This has now become a waiting game,’ my OB told me.”

Thankfully the waiting game came to an end Monday and Tamera and Adam can now adjust to parenthood with their little bundle out the womb.

Check out a couple more pics of Aden on the next pages.

Oh Baby!: Tia Mowry Is Already Thinking About Baby Number Two

Her son will be thirteen months tomorrow, but Tia Mowry-Hardrict is already thinking about her next bundle of joy.

She told Access Hollywood:

“I would love to go through that again. I didn’t have such an amazing pregnancy experience as my sister… but it’s an amazing feeling being pregnant. I would love to have another baby very soon, sooner than later.”

34-year-old Tamera Mowry-Hously is seven months pregnant and says she is having an easier pregnancy than her twin had.

“Overall, I’ve had a pretty well pregnancy. Now, it’s getting a little bit more difficult. I lost my voice because of acid reflux. And my knees sometimes hurt because of the weight I’m carrying.”

Tamera says she walks for thirty minutes nearly every day and does Pilates. The exercise makes her feel better.

In the past, Tia has had some sisterly advice for her pregnant twin:

“When the baby comes, your natural instincts are going to kick in. Follow your instincts and as soon as that baby comes out, you’re automatically going to know what to do. I spent hundreds of dollars on these classes that teach you how to feed a baby, burp a baby, swaddle them. . . you really don’t have to take classes for that.”

The two have both been pregnant on their reality show, although not at the same time (but wouldn’t that have been cute?!) Neither have a desire to pull a Kourtney Kardashian and allowing reality show cameras in the delivery room. Well, Tia didn’t and Tamera says she won’t either.

As most people know, the sisters are both wives. Tia has been married to Cory Hardrict since April of 2008 and Tamera married Adam Housley in May of last year. They both say their marriages are off-limits on their reality show.

According to Sister2Sister:

After witnessing several reality show marriages fall apart, the sisters are also careful about how much of their married life is depicted on the show.

“We’re both married, and our husbands, they come in and out, but my sister and I, we’re very private about our relationships with our husbands, and we want to stay married,” Tia said.

“There’s just something that seems to happen with people when they expose too much of their marriage,“ they said.

Sounds like these two agree on everything.

Is It a Boy? Girl? Twins? Tamera Reveals What She’s Having

June 13th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

I won’t keep you in suspense long. From the mouth of the mommy-to-be herself, who recently had a chat with In Touch about her pregnancy, she told the magazine:

“I’m having a baby boy! We’re so thrilled.”

This news makes the Mowry offspring tally 2-0 boys. On the 28th of this month, Tia’s son Cree will turn 1 years old and Tamera says it’s been helpful having her nephew around to help prepare her for her own son, particularly when it comes to changing diapers. She told the mag:

“I’ve been practicing on him!”

By fall, Tamera’s little blue bundle will be here. The expecting newlywed just hit the five-month mark of her pregnancy, but she’s already begun decorating the nursery. It should come as no surprise that the design will be fit for a little man.

“It’s going to have a sports theme,” she revealed.

In other Sister Sister twin news, the second season of Tia and Tamera’s reality show on the Style network also premiered Monday, June 11 so there may be some pre/early pregnancy behind-the-scenes goodness to catch there.
