“This Is Me”: Tamera Mowry-Housley Lets Her Curls Shine On “The Real,” Says Her Husband Prefers Her Natural
Tamera Mowry-Housley showcased her hair in its naturally curly state for today’s episode of “The Real,” and she looked gorgeous (but when doesn’t she?)!
The beauty talked about cutting her hair off after doing a lot of damage to it:
“Obviously I did something a little different today. I’m a little nervous. Growing up on TV on you guys saw my natural hair. I have naturally curly hair, but throughout the years I always straightened it, I blow-dryed it, I put a hot comb to it. And I went through this really, really rough stage, rough patch of my hair where I had to do the big chop. Which is basically chopping all of your damaged hair off and starting anew. I was a little nervous because not many people are used to seeing me like this. This is me.”
She also talked about what other people in her life think about her hair, and having to deal with strangers trying to touch it:
“My husband loves my hair like this. He would rather me wear my hair curly all day every day than to straighten it. And that makes me feel great. There is one thing that I don’t like sometimes about wearing my hair curly: everybody wants to touch it. They’re all up in your face and you’re like ‘ooooh, wait, nooooo!’ My husband’s friend, sorry Dan, I’m gonna call you out. I went to visit him at work and he saw my hair like this and he literally said, ‘Does your hair grow out of your head like that? No, no, no, no, I think it’s cool! I’ve just never seen anything like that.'”

Kicking off Hot Seat Week, a segment where each host on “The Real” will be undergoing a lie detector test to reveal some interesting secrets, Tamera Mowry-Housley confessed to something rather surprising. The former child actor admitted that sometimes she wishes she wasn’t a twin. Check out what she said during the segment:
Tamar Braxton: Tamera, do you ever wish you were not a twin?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yes.
Tamar Braxton: Really?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yeah… Sometimes you just want to be your own person, you know? People see you as two people and I had to fight for a really really long time, along with my sister, to tell people that, “You know, we’re individuals.”
Watch as Tamera gets super emotional about the struggle of being a twin and make sure you tune into “The Real” on Monday, November 17 to watch the full segment. What do you think of her reveal?
“Don’t Mess With My Nephew”: Tamera Mowry-Housley Claps Back At Internet Trolls Who Criticize Cree And Blue Ivy’s Hair
Earlier in the month we told you about Tia Mowry having to check people on her Instagram page because they were talking ill of her son, Cree. The actress put topknots in the boy’s hair for an outing and people criticized her and the child, claiming that the style was too feminine. Her response was this:
“I am proud to have a SON that embraces his natural hair :). Hair length does not define your sex. Last I checked a pen*s and a vag*na does. Pick up a book, educate yourself, and embrace cultures outside of your own and maybe you will see that there are PLENTY of MEN wearing top knots and MEN with long hair. Here’s a shout out to all the moms who have boys and girls with natural hair! Live ON!”
Well, Tamera Mowry-Housley arrived a the Fox 2014 Emmy Award Nominee Celebration in LA after the Emmy Awards and was asked about attacks on Cree, as well as comments people make about Blue Ivy and children’s hair in general. She didn’t seem to be aware of comments made about her nephew’s hair or that Tia responded to them, but when Hip Hollywood asked her about it, she was upset about it, as expected:
“She did? I do know that Tia always feels like maybe people are always talking about her son or something like that. Wow…his hair.
I think people need to leave children alone. Who does that? You know what, it tells you a lot about them, than what they’re talking about. If you’re really going to go online and talk about a kid, and talk about like Blue Ivy…don’t mess with my nephew…that just tells me a lot about your character. That is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard. Wow. People should be able to do whatever they want to do with their child.”

‘I Wanted To Spend Time Bonding With My Baby:’ Tamera Mowry-Housley Reveals It Took A Year To Shed The Baby Weight
Tamera Mowry-Housley recently flaunted her post-baby bikini body for In Touch Weekly and she looks amazing! Interestingly, she revealed that it was her first time rocking a bikini since her honeymoon back in 2011.
“It’s the first time I’ve been in a bikini since my honeymoon,” said Tamera. “I feel great!”
As you may know, the “Sister, Sister” actress married Fox News correspondent Adam Housley in a 2011 ceremony. Just one year later the couple welcomed their first child, Aden. Weighing in at 127 pounds, the new mom revealed that it took her an entire year to shed the baby weight, but adds that she’s proud that she lost it at her own pace.
“I want to punch them in the face!” she joked about fellow Hollywood moms who are able to miraculously dispose of those baby pounds in mere weeks.
“I wanted to spend time bonding with my baby,” she adds, “not killing myself at the gym.”
As a result, Tamera decided to nurse baby Aden for seven months and once that period was over, she cut her 1,700-calorie-a-day diet by 500 calories and began to “kick it into gear” by hitting the gym 5 times per week.
Check out Tamera’s full body-after-baby spread in the latest issue of In Touch Weekly.
No, this is not an advertisement for the latest curly pudding product on the market — though it very well could be.
While scoping out pics from Tia and Tamer’s Ebony magazine photo shoot on the twin sisters’ Instagram pages yesterday we came across this photo that was just too cute not to share. Tamera posted the family candid with the hilarious caption: “This is what happens when four people try to take a selfie. Aden doesn’t get it” but we’re not mad at the little cutie. If anything, we’re jealous of all these gorgeous, natural ringlets in one shot.
Though Tia chopped off her long locks a while ago, Tamera only made the big chop a few months ago and is still getting used to her new short look. The new ‘do is turning out to be a good look for her, though, based on another photo she posted online, and we have to say we agree.
Truth be told, the only thing better than one TWA is four, so caption this pic of the Mowry’s showing off their curly q’s and tell us what you think.
Tia And Tamera Cover Ebony; Tamera Speaks On Expectation To Marry A Black Man, But Ending Up With Adam
Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley are the newest covergirls for the May 2014 issue of Ebony. Since May is the month of Mother’s Day, the twins, along with other bold and brave mothers, are celebrated. This also includes Sybrina Fulton and Lucia McBath, the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis. The ladies look amazing! In the interview, Tamera actually touches upon the interracial relationship criticism she has faced, and her thoughts as a young girl that she would marry a black man. Obviously, life had other ideas:
“Honestly, growing up, I [just] knew I was going to marry a Black man. But, as I grew up, I learned to just be open. I just wanted to be with someone who was confident around me and who I felt comfortable being myself with.”
And though we don’t have all the details on their interview as of yet, we’re hoping they’ll touch on their hopes for a Sister, Sister movie, which Tia recently said she would love to do:
“Omgosh, I would love to do Tia and Tamera go to Paris or to see where are they now,” the “Instant Mom” star gushed to OK! “Maybe one of them’s married one’s not, one of them’s extremely successful and the other one’s struggling and she has to help the one who’s struggling. One of them has a family, the other one doesn’t.”
We’d love to see that happen too! But until then, share your thoughts on their colorful cover below. The ladies also shared some exclusive shots from the shoot on their Instagram, and they’re giving us all types of fierce!
‘They Just Need To Get Over It:’ Tamera Mowry Strikes Back At People Who Have Issues With Her Interracial Marriage
In January actress Tamera Mowry-Housley appeared on an episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” alongside her twin sister Tia Mowry-Hardict. In the interview, Tamera opened up about some of the harsh comments people have been sending her on social media sites like Instagram and Twitter regarding her interracial marriage to Fox News corespondent Adam Housley.
“It’s so weird,” she recently told Bethenny Frankel during a TV appearance. “I think maybe because social media is what it is right now. I have a Twitter account and people feel like they can just come to it and say whatever but I’ve learned to love my block button.”
Like her younger brother, Taj Mowry, Tamera also discussed social media users who attack her for having white friends.
“Please, they don’t even know me. They don’t know my friends. Honestly, who cares?”
In addition to ignoring rude commenters, Tamera says she combats the negativity by focusing on the positive.
“I’m just choosing to see the positive side of it. We have more people loving on us than hating on us and we are choosing to focus on that now.”
While she did find a way to cope with it all, “The Real” host admits that it doesn’t take away the sting of the hateful comments she receives.
“My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is a very handsome white man,” she explained. “I was actually hurt because my parents had experienced it way back in the day and I was hurt because we as a community have come so far and we fight against it all the time. I was hurt that people still felt that way but the opposite way, you see what I’m saying? So if anything, I was devastated, hurt, and like I said I’m just going to pray and look at the positive.”
Well, at least she’s not allowing it to get the best of her anymore.

During her appearance last week on Oprah’s “Where Are They Now?” series, actress Tamera Mowry-Housley shed quite a few tears over the hate being spewed at her due to her interracial marriage to Fox News correspondent Adam Housley.
“I’ve never experienced so much hate, ever, in my life,” the new mom told Oprah.
“White man’s whore,” she recalled the words of one vicious Internet commenter. “Back in the day, you cost $300, but now, you’re giving it away for free.”
The most hurtful comment, however, was one involving her twin sister, Tia Mowry-Hardict.
“They say, ‘Oh, Tia’s a true black woman because she married a black man,’” she recalled. “Oh – I’m less of a black person because I married white?”
Having grown up in an biracial family, she revealed that the harsh words were even more difficult to swallow.
“My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family,” she said.
TV Newser recently caught up with Adam, who also opened up about the harsh criticism he’s been forced to endure due to people’s narrow views on race and relationships.
“The fact that in this day and age, we get attacked for our interracial relationship is beyond sad,” the Fox News Anchor complained. “It is pathetic. Yes I am white. Yes she is half black. Marrying a white man does not erase her color and marrying a woman who is half black does not mean I am blinded.”
Adam went on say that it’s disturbing that people don’t “know better” by now.
“The problem isn’t pigmentation,” said Adam.”The problem is backwards, bigoted thoughts from people who should know better.”
It’s terrible to think that interracial relationships are still such a huge problem for people in 2014.
Big choppers of the world have a new national member to add to their crew. Yesterday Tamera Mowry-Housley showed off her new ‘do on Instagram and it’s definitely a big switch. Posting the photo, Tamera wrote:
Love my big chop…love my curl doctor @shaiamiel You did it again
@shaiamiel is Shai Amiel, owner of Capella Salon in Studio City, CA, who literally goes by the name “Curl Doctor” and who showed off Tamera’s big chop on her own Instagram account.
Before the big reveal, Tamera hinted this move was coming when she sent out this tweet while at the salon, but no one knew such a drastic change was in the works.

We’ve gotten so used to seeing Tamera with long flowing locks so this look will definitely take a little time to get used to. We can’t wait to see how she styles it on “The Real.” What do you think about Tamera’s big chop?
They may be done with reality TV, but the Mowry twins seem to be nowhere near done with allowing the public into their private worlds. Both Tia and Tamera will be starring in an upcoming episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” According to a preview recently released by OWN, the sisters will open up about “the shocking racism they have faced on the Internet.” It also looks like their adorable son’s Cree and Aden will also be making a couple of cameo’s on the show, which seems to bring out Tamera’s soft side.
“See, this is where I get emotional,” Tamera said in the preview, fighting back tears.
The ladies will also be discussing “the ups and downs of early stardom” and highlighting their new lives as entrepreneurs and moms.
“Identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry have stuck together over the years—first on the television sitcom Sister, Sister and later on their reality show Tia & Tamera,” the episode’s description reads. “Now, they’ve branched out into business, marketing natural and healthy products for new mothers like themselves. Take a peek inside their company headquarters.”
The new episode will also feature actor Ralph Macchio from 80s movie “The Karate Kid,” Peter Scolari from “Bosom Buddies” and musician Kenny Scolari. Oh, and in case you’re wondering what they all have in common, according to OWN, “they were big stars early in their lives, yet all have had career dry spells that they’ve had to overcome.” The new episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” is scheduled to air Friday, Jan. 10 at 8/7c.
