The Red Flags: Things to NOT Tolerate On the Job
By Blair Bedford

If you have ever watched the movie The Devil Wears Prada, you might have finished the movie thinking that such behaviors on the job are a part of the normal work experience. Uh, I don’t think so. From demanding supervisors to noisy co-workers, we have all had our share of experiences in the workplace that were not-so ideal or comfortable, but we were able to tolerate it to get to where we wanted to be in our careers. I’m convinced that most problems in relationships stem from a series of communicative missteps. Both men and women fail to communicate their expectations in a relationship effectively; just exactly what it is that they want from their other half. Several years ago I read the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success; one major lesson for me was the notion that we should love freely without expectations. When we place unrealistic expectations on our partners we are damaging the free flowing energy of our relationships. But that’s another conversation altogether.
The number 1 killer of relationships outside of infidelities and money problems is what I like to call ‘a case of the bad days.’
You know the bad days don’t you? When your lover is in a mood and they “expect” you to know that, understand it and put up with their flaky ways for the day, weeks even! I am most certain that if at the start of a relationship a man told his potential girlfriend, “hey listen, there are going to be days where I’m in a funk and there’s nothing you can do about it. But rather than leave me alone, I want you to come deeper into me, be my whipping board for the week.” In the very beginning! No one in their right mind would stick around for that Okie doke, but after we have time invested, that’s exactly the type of situations we end up in. For the good days outweigh the bad, right?
