Oh, Father: Sitcom Dads We’ve Grown To Love!
The role of a father has always provided sitcoms with a special kind of dynamic. They often serve as the comedic relief, the teacher of life lessons, and the support that the family needs. They are also almost always found to be the sitcoms favorite character. In celebration of Father’s Day, we’ve decided to highlight some of our favorite sitcom dads, both past and present.
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner: Snoop Dogg
The long haired, don’t care rapper has sold a family comedy project to NBC, which he plans on producing and starring in. Famed television writer and producer Don Reo will also be on hand helping out with the project, and his experience includes working on Everybody Hates Chris, Two and a Half Men, and ‘Til Death. While Snoop, aka, Calvin Broadus Jr., does a good amount of film work, this of course, isn’t his first foray into television. The rapper had the reality TV show Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood on E! in case you forgot, or just didn’t care to watch. Interesting to think of him trying to play a sitcom dad, a la Bill Cosby style. He reminds me more of someone’s crazy uncle. Anywho, can’t say I’m uber-excited to see what Snoop has to offer, but I’m just glad to see black folks making that money. No foolery though, please.
