Model-turned-restaurateur-turned-popular lifestyle entrepreneur and TV host Barbara Smith has just inked a deal with the world’s largest radio broadcaster, Sirius XM Radio. She’s teamed up with Dan Gasby (“Thank You Dan”), her husband and business partner to launch the “The B. Smith and Thank You Dan” show.
The show, which had its debut Monday, will be a daily, three-hour show hosted by the husband-and-wife team, on SiriusXM Urban View, formerly The Power, channel 128. The show will offer listeners information on healthy living, food, entertaining, succeeding in business, as well as secrets to a successful relationship.
“B. Smith has inspired so many by breaking new ground time and time again. Today we are thrilled that ‘The B. Smith and ‘Thank You Dan’ Show’ will bring B. Smith and Dan to radio for the first time, with a brand-new format that creates an on-air environment as welcoming and intimate as their home, and as inspirational and motivating as their life,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SiriusXM in a press release.
B. Smith, one of the first black models to grace the cover of a national women’s magazine and now CEO of B. Smith Enterprises added, “While I will be spicing up the airways with conversation about food, fashion, fun and how to do it all with style, expect Dan to be full of surprises. Our interests range from politics to the state of small businesses and the need for mentorship of people of diverse cultures. But, we’ll also keep it fun and even comment on who said what on The Voice last night.”
B. Smith is the first African-American woman to have a national lifestyle brand, to be named to the board of directors of the Culinary Institute of America, and to have a nationally syndicated television lifestyle show. Gasby is also chairman of B. Smith Enterprises.

Things got a little racial recently when Ron Bennington interviewed comedian and former CNN host D.L. Hughley on SiriusXM’s “Unmasked” and the two discussed the president.
Hughley was on the show to promote his new book, “I Want You to Shut The F**k Up: How the Audacity of Dopes is Ruining America,” and had a lot to say about Obama’s measured image during the election. Specifically, how he’s handling his opponents’ attacks.
The comedian said he thought that President Obama reacts to criticism intellectually, which makes him “closer to being a white kid.”
“I should say he responds like an intellect,” Hughley immediately corrected.
See how else D.L. tried to fix his statement on the president and listen to the full audio on BlackVoices.com.
