‘Blended Families Are Never Easy:’ Jada Pinkett-Smith Offers Advice On Accepting A Man’s Children In Open Letter
Back when Jada and Will Smith tied the knot, she realized that not only was she gaining a husband, but also a son, whom she would have to love and cherish as if he were her own. She recognized that with that child, came his mother, Will’s ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher and she knew that for the benefit of everyone in that family, she would have to form a decent relationship with Sheree. The actress posted a tough love, open letter to her Facebook page, addressing that very subject. She doesn’t exactly say who the letter is intended for, but it seems that anyone going through a similar experience can benefit from it. Check out the letter below.
“A Letter to a Friend:
Blended families are NEVER easy, but here’s why I don’t have a lot of sympathy for your situation because… we CHOOSE them. When I married Will, I knew Trey was part of the package…Period! If I didn’t want that…I needed to marry someone else. Then I learned if I am going to love Trey…I had to learn to love the most important person in the world to him…his mother. And the two of us may not have always LIKED each other… but we have learned to LOVE each other.I can’t support any actions that keep a man from his children of a previous marriage. These are the situations that separate the women from the girls. Your behavior is that of an insecure child who needs to recognize her own weaknesses that MUST be strengthened to take on the task at hand. We can’t say we love our man and then come in between him and his children. THAT’S selfishness…NOT love. WOMAN UP… I’ve been there…I know. My blended family made me a giant… Taught me so much about love, commitment and it has been the biggest ego death to date. It’s time you let your blended family make you the giant you truly are.”

Keenan Ivory Wayans Ex-Wife Added To Renewed Second Season Of “Hollywood Exes”
Good news! “Hollywood Exes” is coming back for a second season and they’re bringing a new cast member with them, Keenan Ivory Wayans’ ex-wife, Daphne. A couple of months ago, we reported that the mother of Keenan’s five children, whom he was married to for three or four years, was vying for a chance to join the cast, and according to a press release on VH1′s blog, she succeeded.
The announcement says all five women, Nicole Murphy, Mayte Garcia, Jessica Canseco, Sheree Fletcher, and Andrea Kelly, will be returning for the renewed season in 2013 along with Daphne who is a longtime friend of Nicole and Sheree.
“Daphne will join the rest of the ladies as they continue to step out of the long shadows cast by their famous exes and support each other on the next stages of their lives,” the site says.
Though “Hollywood Exes” didn’t quite put up “Love & Hip-Hop” numbers on VH1, with an average of 1.5 million viewers, the ladies proved that people like to watch classy women as well, and you don’t have to act a you know what to be entertaining. I’m sure Andrea Kelly’s hilarious sayings kept people coming back for more too.
Are you looking forward to season 2?

So What Does Will Smith Think About His Ex-Wife Getting a Reality Show?
A lot of people have been feeling some type of way about the idea of women becoming famous because of who they divorced with all of the attention on VH1′s new show, “Hollywood Exes,” but the most important question is how do the exes feel about these women getting a show because of them.
From the pilot episode, we could see Jose Canseco is still somewhat involved with his ex, which is why he was on the show, so it’s not surprising he doesn’t have a problem with the arrangement, but so far Sheree Fletcher is the only one who has acknowledged her ex-hubby, Will Smith’s, stake in this whole thing. In an interview with Vibe she spoke on involving Will in her decision to join the show and what his reaction was. When they asked her whether she had to get Will’s approval, she said:
“Absolutely, because he is an ex. I didn’t need Will’s permission to do the show; there was nothing that I needed to sign in order to do the show. You know, our son is 19 [years old], so out of respect, of course I told him that this was what I was considering doing. I actually told him when I signed. When I said, ‘Look, this is what I’m going to do,’ he gave me his blessing to have a good time.”
Sheree’s situation is a little interesting because she’s not just an ex, she’s also the wife of Terrell Fletcher, the Sr. Pastor of San Diego’s City of Hope International Church, which means she also needed his approval. She told Vibe:
“He was skeptical at first because of the nature of reality, as was I, but he’s great. You’ll see him in the show. He makes quite a few appearances with me. He’s super supportive and totally on board.”
In this day and age when everybody tries to claim the camera is playing tricks on us and what we’re seeing is really production magic and not real actions, it’s amazing anyone still takes a chance having every minute of their lives videotaped like this. Sheree says for her, the decision to join the cast wasn’t about her trying to be famous but to have fun while also building her brand.
“It looked like it would be a lot of fun,” she said of her choice to be a part of the show. “It was reality but it was a ‘different color of the rainbow.’ They wanted to show women in a more positive light and women coming together and being supportive and encouraging one another, a kind of a sorority type of thing. So that kind of piqued my interest. As a business women, I thought it’d be great in terms of exposure of my brand.
Women coming together in a more positive light is exactly the message she says she wants viewers to take away from the show too.
“First and foremost, women can come together and do something great. We can disagree respectfully. I want people to know that women need women. We really do, and I want women to be encouraged. Like I said, you’ve got five women who are business owners and I’m hoping that that would inspire somebody to step out and start their own thing. I think that we’re very relatable. I think that women will connect to us. We’re women just like anybody else. It doesn’t matter who our exes were. I mean, obviously, we went through our divorce in a public, major way, but at the end of the day, we’re women and we can connect and relate on so many other levels. I’m hoping that women will relate and be encouraged.”
We’ll have to see how that comes across on the first real episode tonight at 9pm. Do you think it was cool of Will to give Sheree his blessing?

Reality TV Trailer Sneak Peak: ‘Hollywood Exes’
There’s a whole new set of wives coming to VH1—ex-wives to be exact. We’ve told you a few details about the new series “Hollywood Exes” which will follow the former spouses of some big name Hollywood entertainers and now we’ve got a first look at some of the issues the women will be dealing with when the show debuts later this month.
The series stars Nicole Murphy (Eddie Murphy), Jessica Canseco (Jose Canseco), Sheree Fletcher (Will Smith), Mayte Garcia (Prince), and Andrea Kelly (R. Kelly), and the good thing is that the women are friends in real life. The best thing is that there wasn’t even a hint of a fight in the series promo which means the reality show already has a leg-up on the other productions on the network.
VH1 may finally be trying to balance out some of the craziness by showing women who are mature in age and behavior getting along and bonding over failed marriages to top men in the entertainment biz. It definitely looks like something that could be worth a watch if you’re not opposed to being all up in other people’s business.
The series premieres June 27 at 9pm. Check out the promo trailer and tell us what you think. Will you watch?

Ex-Wives of Will Smith and Eddie Murphy Starring in Reality Show
VH1 may finally have a reality show lined up that doesn’t feature cat fight for days. The network is reportedly getting ready to begin filming for a new series titled “The Ex-List” starring Eddie Murphy’s former wife, Nicole, and Will Smith’s ex, Sheree.
Nicole has always been classy when seen in public and is probably doing the show for the money, with no plans to ruin her image. I’m guessing her financial struggle after being conned out of $7 million by her former financial manager, as well as her relationship with fiance an NFL commentator Michael Strahan, will be the center of her plot.
Will Smith’s ex-wife Sheree has also been in the no-drama zone, often appearing with Will, Jada, and the kids to show blended families can work. She’s also a pastor’s wife and goes by Mrs. Fletcher so hopefully it’s safe to assume she won’t call any women out of their names or toss a drink their way.
There’s no word yet on who else will star in the series since Wendy Williams spilled the beans on her show yesterday but taping is expected to begin in March. I’m actually a little excited about this one.
Will you tune in?
