Barely-there color is right on trend for this fall and winter when it comes to manis and pedis. Hues that compliment your natural skin tone but still make your manicure look sophisticated and put-together belong in your cosmetic bag this season. This is especially the case if you want to rock the rich tones of autumn like hunter green or ruby red, or want to get on board with the fall neon trend when it comes to clothing. While they may not all be our kinds of “nude” necessarily, whether your complexion is the color of caramel, latte, or cocoa, there are a number of polish shades that will definitely make your nails stand out–in a demure, chic kind of way.
I didn’t become a makeup artist because I like to play by the rules. I would have been a lawyer if that was the case. All too often women become confined by “rules.” Well, enough is enough! Here is my guide to breaking all the “rules” of makeup minus the guilt of being a bad girl.
Makeup should be fun. Give yourself permission to play with color, texture and placement. Bottomline: confidence is the single most beautiful thing you can wear. When trying out a new makeup idea, notice how it makes you feel. Do you feel sexier? Adventurous? Channel that feeling throughout your night and see what a difference it makes.
With all the separation that still sticks around when it comes to being a black person of a fairer complexion or one with darker skin, it’s about time we have a conversation about what skin color means to black people these days. Not since Spike Lee’s School Daze has the obvious sensitive topic about the differences (are there really any?) and animosity between light and dark skin black folks been so thoroughly evaluated, so our friends at Uptown Magazine decided to tackle it. They interviewed five movers and shakers in the black professional world, including TV host Marc Lamont Hill, editorial consultant Michaela Angela Davis, TV personality Bevy Smith, Daily Beast writer Allison Samuels, and media attorney Julian Riley. All players were asked to evaluate the way they perceive the range of black complexions, and how it has defined them or shaped their experiences. It also helps that their shades vary as much as their opinions. Veeeeery interesting responses people!

Sunglasses in the summer are almost as vital of an accessory as your handbag. Hence the reason they come in all different shapes and sizes; and of course we all know, sometimes the bigger the bolder!
In addition to the popular brands like Gucci, Marc Jacobs, and Carrera, there are other brands that are just as stylish at only a fraction of the price.
