Prepare To “Think Like A Man” Again: Sequel Gets Release Date And New (Unoriginal) Name

It was this month last year that Think Like A Man came out. With expectations all over the place, nobody knew what to expect (it’s a movie based off of Steve Harvey’s advice for goodness sake), but with such a large cast, we all hoped for the best. In the end of course, the movie beat expectations, got Steve Harvey a talk show, grossed more than $33 million during the opening weekend, going number one, and in the end, earned more than $100 million worldwide for a movie that only took $12 million to make. So you know what that means…sequel alert!
According to Shadow and Act, a sequel is in the works, and the title will be, Think Like A Man Too…how “fun.” Guess they took a cue from Tyler Perry and decided to keep it simple with “Too.” Anywho, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on May 30, 2014, and Will Packer is going to be behind the movie once again, as well as Steve Harvey of course as an executive producer.
The same writers are in the picture to make the storyline follow the lessons in Harvey’s book. But all I ask for the next movie is that they pass on all the over-the-top cameos they had in the last film (i.e., Chris Brown and a bunch of other singers who just happened to be in the ATL when the movie was shooting and decided to stop by). But otherwise, I’m sure it will be another hilarious and successful movie.
Are you excited? What do you hope for in the sequel?
‘Think Like a Man’ Part 2 Is Happening, Will You See It?
Hollywood cannot deny the box office success that was Think Like a Man, which is why they’re trying to create it with a sequel, The LA Times confirms.
Before the film even hit theaters, Will Packer was saying a sequel was already approved, but Screen Gems has just put out the official word on part deux, saying they have rehired Keith Merryman and David A. Newman to write the script.
Think Like a Man brought in $91 million in the United States alone after its opening in April, making it one of the year’s most profitable comedies thus far and also answering critic’s widely asked question of whether a film with a nearly all-black cast could perform well at the box office.
Beyond naming the screenplay writers, Screen Gems hasn’t let on about whether all of the actors from the first film will appear in the second. At the very least, I think most people are hoping Kevin Hart will reprise his role and considering he’s already on board for another flick from the studio, we’re pretty sure they recognize how he made the movie.
Nevertheless, for the success Think Like a Man had at the ticket counter, some women were less than enthused about part one, so given this news, will you see the sequel?

Oprah to Replace Whitney in Waiting to Exhale Sequel?
“Sparkle” wasn’t the only movie project Whitney Houston had lined up before her passing. The sequel to the 1995 classic “Waiting to Exhale” was also slated to be in the works, and Fox’s president says the movie will still go on without her.
Fox 2000 Pictures purchased the rights to the movie sequel from Terry McMillan after she published Getting to Happy in 2010, and President Elizabeth Gabler said there are no plans to cancel production in light of news of Whitney’s death.
“I don’t think she would want it to,” Elizabeth said in an interview with Vulture Monday afternoon. “It’s almost in her honor that we think to soldier on.”
Once the shock over Whitney’s sudden death passes, Elizabeth says discussions will begin about who would be an appropriate replacement for her character, and she mentioned that since Oprah Winfrey has done her share of acting and worked over time to promote the film, “it isn’t inconceivable” that she might have an interest in playing the part, although Elizabeth adds:
“We literally have not talked about anybody for that part. Forest [Whitaker], I know, is just … grieving. He’d been the one who was speaking with her, updating [Houston] on its progress.”
It’s hard for me to envision Oprah taking on that part for a number of reasons and it seems as though it may be best to try to cut Savannah out of the script as much as possible. But since it’s nearly 20 years after the original film debuted, maybe no one will mind the character change.
What do you think Fox should do about Whitney Houston’s character? If they replace her, who would be a good choice?

‘Think Like a Man’ Sequel Already Approved?
Steve Harvey’s “Think Like a Man” feature film, inspired by his similarly titled book, hasn’t even hit theaters yet and already a sequel has been approved, according to Rainforest Films’ Will Packer.
The movie producer tweeted that the president of Screen Gems was on Steve Harvey’s radio show yesterday morning and he announced that a sequel to the upcoming movie will happen.
Maybe the executive felt compelled to say something “big” for his radio cameo because it seems a little premature to announce a follow-up to a movie that hasn’t even been released yet. But then again, women went out in droves to buy the best-selling book, the team must expect people to do the same when the movie comes out this spring.
As long as there isn’t a silly cliffhanger at the end of the first movie, this could be good. What do you think?

Hollywood sure knows how to resurrect any and everything. If you were still watching your copy of The Best Man on DVD (or VHS for those old-school fans) or catching it everytime it popped up on BET (every other day), you’ll be happy–I’m assuming–to know that Malcolm D. Lee has signed on to bring you a sequel to 1999′s The Best Man. We’re hoping all the original stars will be back on board for the sequel, and according to Deadline, the idea for the sequel came after a cast reunion recently. Who knows, maybe this time Lance will confront Mia about her romp in the sack with Harper??? That would be extremely entertaining! This is one of my favorite black romantic comedies ever, so I’ll be positive and will most likely check out and support the sequel. NO BOOTLEG’S PLEASE!
What about you?
