“I Look Like The Bad Guy Right Now”: August Alsina Says 106 & Park “Played” Him, Speaks On His Behavior
“So you just go against the grain, and go against everything that I just…I just told y’all not to ask me that s**t when I got up in here.”Reaction to his response was mixed, with some thinking he behaved quite poorly, while others thought that it wasn’t a big deal, and that if he told people at the show he didn’t want to talk about it, they never should have asked him the question. But one person very bothered by his choice to curse on the show and embarrass Chante was former 106 & Park co-host, Rocsi Diaz. She took to Twitter to call Alsina out:
But since that whole thing happened, what does Alsina have to say? In an interview at Sway in the Morning late last week, he said that he basically was “played” by those at the show, and didn’t appreciate being made to look like the bad guy:“Let me go on record and say Keshia Chante did her job as a journalist. Any other Radio or TV personality or blogger would have asked to.” “2 even applaud how she was responded 2 is what’s wrong with our generation 2day. Also that language on @106andpark its not even necessary”
“I was played, man. Here’s the thing, I look like the bad guy right now because of how I’ve been portrayed. Really, people don’t know. First of all, let me say, I ain’t no b**ch, I ain’t no ho, I ain’t no pu**y, I ain’t no pushover–none of the above, so don’t play with me. Don’t lead me to believe something that it’s not. If you tell me we ain’t gon’ talk about this because I ask you–it’s different if…you lied right to my face! So don’t blindside me. So it’s like all of us [points to people in studio], we going to war with in this muthaf**ka with each other. We all on the same squad. And then as soon as we get out there and start bussin’ at ni**as, ya’ll just start shooting at me! So you gotta be prepared for me to bust back at you if you don’t kill me! And that’s what it is. I was played. Me and Stephen Hill, shout out to Stephen Hill over at BET–we had a real conversation and it’s love, but I don’t like the way I’ve been portrayed because I’m not a bad ni**a. What’s exhausting is for me to try and show you that I’m a good guy when I know who I am. It’s too exhausting, but I was played. If anybody feel like I disrespected her or whatever, it’s like, okay, cool, well f**k you too! Straight up! And that’s just what it is.”I couldn’t have said it more eloquently. What do you think of Alsina’s response to how he was treated at 106 & Park, and how he reacted to it on live television? Check out the interview, with the 106 & Park incident being spoken about at the 9:00 mark:
“I Just Told Y’all Not To Ask Me That Sh*t”: August Alsina Curses At 106 & Park Host, Rocsi Diaz Comes To Her Defense
Chante: “Is there any chance that two talented brothers will bury the hatchet?” Alsina: “So you just go against the grain, and go against everything that I just…I just told y’all not to ask me that s**t when I got up in here.”Things got tense after that.
Chante: “Fair enough. I think the girls wanna know. And you’ve spoken to– Alsina: “Testimony coming out, baby. Album in stores.” Chante: “You’ve spoken on radio stations and blogs and you’re on the show and fans want to know. So I’m just asking you what fans want to know. That’s it. If you don’t want to answer that’s fine.”After that, Chante was quite peeved by being cursed at on live television, as anyone would be. So by the time he introduced his new video a minute or two later, she walked off the stage. So who was in the wrong in this situation? The feedback has been mixed. But former 106 & Park co-host Rocsi Diaz, who now works for Entertainment Tonight, has spoken out, defending Chante and saying Alsina’s behavior was unnecessary on Twitter. Forgive the grammar issues, Twitter does only provide you with 140 characters…Alsina: “I won’t.” Chante: “All right, we move on.”
“Let me go on record and say Keshia Chante did her job as a journalist. Any other Radio or TV personality or blogger would have asked to.” “2 even applaud how she was responded 2 is what’s wrong with our generation 2day. Also that language on @106andpark its not even necessary” “She Be applauded for asking the hard question not being shut down”And when someone tried to say that she used to get cursed out by celebrities on the show too, Rosci shut that down, saying:
“SWEET HEART NEVER ON MY WATCH AND @TerrenceJ wouldn’t let it happen”What’s your excuse Bow Wow? Just kidding…but not really. I think Alsina has every right not to answer questions he’s not comfortable with (more celebrities need to do it actually), but to curse at the young woman? Not a good look in my opinion, especially as a new artist, and especially when you consider the fact that Alsina was the one who brought his issues with Trey Songz to light in the media. Once you bring it up, people are going to want to talk about it. In response, just say, “no comment,” and better yet, have your publicist send a memo in advance so things like this don’t happen. I agree that this new generation of young people can be too comfortable talking to people any kind of way these days, and it’s quite ridiculous, especially when you’re talking crazy on live television. But what do you think? Check out the awkward clip below and share your thoughts.
These single celebrity women have a lot going for them. They’re smart, Hot, beautiful, talented, and make their own money So why hasn’t anyone but a ring on it yet — assuming they want one?
Actress Sanaa Lathan has been a Hollywood staple since the late ’90s. While she has maintained consistent work since leaving the theater world behind and relocating to L.A., Nathan has kept her private life mostly private. The 42-year-old Best Man Holiday star dated football player Adewale Ogunyele for a few years but other than that, Lathan has kept her dating life to herself. A few months ago, she shared a photo of herself and San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick out together on a romantic dinner date. No word on if the two are a couple or if it was just dinner with a friend.

Many of these radio personalities or DJs have expanded their brands and can be seen on TV or have moved to the bif time in radio and have syndicated shows. They made radio fun and kept us yearning for more. Some of them, of course, have us wondering, “Where are they now?” So while the internet has certainly changed the course of radio, one thing is for sure: it can never replace the mark these people left behind in traditional radio.
106 & PARK” is undergoing exciting changes. Angela Simmons will continue to guest host until the end of the summer. Bow Wow aka “Mr. 106 & Park” will continue as the lead host; Miss. Mykie, Paigion and Shorty Da Prince will no longer remain on the show. BET Networks is happy to have worked with these bright, young stars and will continue to support them and their upcoming endeavors. When I found out that they were going to try and revamp things with Bow Wow and Simmons (they must have realized that Bow Wow and his ex-girlfriends bring a lot of attention to the show, i.e., his uncomfortable interview with Ciara not too long ago), I had to roll my eyes. Please BET, let this show go already. While the network has made positive strides in its programming as of recent, anytime I flip past 106 & Park they’re showing videos by artists no one has ever heard about over the age of 12, as teenagers sit behind the hosts looking bored and tired. And that’s the way the audience feels at home. There’s no connection to the hosts. While I think Angela Simmons and Bow Wow are interesting people separately, I’m personally tired of seeing famous faces get jobs over more qualified people just because they supposedly have a following. Really, what grown woman is still crushing on Bow Wow!? And if we can keep it really real, the era for the music video countdown show is dead. Especially when the same video you want folks to spend their high text message rates on to vote for can be viewed for free.99 on YouTube. It was a good idea at a time when you could watch artists make their videos on the network, and back when world premieres took place mainly on the show, but in the hours that one would wait to watch 106 & Park now, you could watch the video and many more on your phone. Plus, the Z-list celebrities they get to come on the show aren’t enough to get anybody to watch. While 106 & Park might have at one time beaten MTV’s TRL during its heyday, and jump started some thriving careers (except for Free…girl, where are you!?), they need to make like TRL and all the other video countdown predecessors and be done already. It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s just a waste of good re-run and original programming space. Just saying.
‘It Was An Important Wake Up Call To Take Care Of Myself:” Rocsi Diaz On Passing Out At The Billboard Music Awards
Entertainment Tonight correspondent Rocsi Diaz looked beautiful on the blue carpet at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday evening. But, unfortunately, 29-year-old Honduran-born television personality is not making headlines for her chic outfit or her interesting interviews this year. Instead, people are discussing the frightening health scare that she experienced as she worked the blue carpet.
Rocsi was able to score great interviews with a couple of celebs before she was overcome by the Las Vegas heat and passed out. Paramedics rushed to and she was able to shake it off and get back to work. According to Global Grind, she even nabbed an interview with Nicki Minaj after her fainting episode.
In a statement released to the YBF, Diaz expressed that she was thankful that her peers rushed to her side to help her.
“I’m really thankful for everyone that dropped everything to help me yesterday. Shaun Robinson actually left her position on the carpet to run to my side, thanks for being there, girl! I also apologize for cutting Miley’s interview short, she must have been so confused, but I didn’t want to faint on her!”
An additional statement was also released through her publicist.
“It was a scary, humbling and embarrassing moment and an important wake up call to take better care of myself while on the road”
We’re glad she’s okay!
Before we all took a break to chomp down on Turkey (or whatever it is that your familia eats in your home on Thanksgiving), fashionistas were trying to be seen on the red carpet at the 40th annual American Music Awards in Los Angeles this past Sunday. From sheer dresses to ensembles with a bright sheen, everybody did something different that turned heads. Now were the heads turning for good or bad reasons? Let’s take a look at four of the looks that caught my eye and figure it out!
Miss Kerry Ba-by (just kidding) arrived to the awards show rocking a very unique sheer Stella McCartney dress covered in floral details. Underneath the long-sleeved dress she wore a white slip and accessorized with coral pointed toe pumps and a small yellow clutch.
Though, per the usual, I would love if Kerry wore more form-fitting ensembles, once again, she does look great. The dress is a gorgeous color and the hair with the tucked curls is fab as well. Nice touch with the coral heels by the way. I would steal this and rock it any day!
Give ATL A Run For Their Money: The Has-Beens and B-List Celebs Who Should Be On Love & Hip Hop New York
“Love and Hip Hop” is an amazing show, mainly because it brings together women of all socio-economic backgrounds (cubicle-dwellers, hoodrats, executives) to bear witness to the intriguing of lives of rappers and the women who love them. After the show’s second season and the drama that went down between Chrissy “Iron Fist” Lampkin and producer Mona Scott-Young, it’s doubtful that the Jones clan will be back in the spotlight under the “Love & Hip Hop” banner. If this show, which gave the world Mama Jones and her “PumKash,” lives past the 3rd season, it should cast the following women to spice up prime time TV with their boughetto shenanigans and hold down the L&HH brand.
On how she got her start in the entertainment industryBy “friends”, does she mean friends with benefits? Love may be blind, but the rest of us aren’t. Nearly ever gossip blog in the country has posted photos of her and 51-year-old Eddie Murphy together. What does she mean she’s never been on a beach with him before? She was photographed joining him on his annual family trip to Maui. Unless she’s the new nanny at Eddie Murphy’s Daddy Daycare, then she just told a blatant lie. Maybe the BET party was a lapse in PR judgment and they’ve suddenly decided to keep their budding relationship under wraps. Good luck with that. Follow Alissa on Twitter @AlissaInPink
I was a radio personality when I first started. I interned for a local television/radio station in New Orleans, Louisiana. That’s kind of how I got my feel docuing tapes, labeling them and going into the library. I started on-air in Dallas and worked my way from Dallas to Boston and Boston to Chicago. I was the Mid Day Mami. On what inspired her to try out for 106 and Park
You know it’s really funny! A good friend of mine, his name is Ludacris, famous rapper turned actor now, he would always tell me, ‘Rosci you don’t have a face for radio’. When the opportunity came, BET was doing a national search as they’re doing now for the new host of 106 & Park, and he told me I should go do it. If it wasn’t for his inspiration, I probably would have never got in that line and thought that I could do it. He doesn’t even know that to this day. I’ve never been like ‘Thank you for giving me the courage.”On if she had to change her look for the job
I did. I was a sweat pants girl. I had every Adidas track suit, Rocawear track suit and Air Force Ones known to man. I was a tomboy and I remember for my audition for 106 & Park, [that] was probably the first pair of heels I actually went and got. I got some crazy outrageous boots because I knew Free liked shoes but I was such a tomboy and BET totally turned me into a girly girl. I was just transformed. You embody such a feminine womanly role model role on the show. The way you carry yourself and the way you dress, I try to implement good tasteful dressing on the show. I don’t always get it right –we’ve had some bombs but we try to keep it classy. On her plans after she leaves BET 106 and Park
Well, I’m still going out for other hosting opportunities as well. I think that in this day and age of Hollywood and entertainment you kind of have to be a multi hyphenate. I love radio, I love television, hosting, and acting is just a new chapter in my life. So is DJing as well. I think when you see people like Nick Cannon and Jamie Foxx, they just do so much that you have to be able to do other things as well. Acting is one of them. I just finished two films in the last year and I’ve totaled four already. [Acting is] one of those dreams that you never think that would become reality but I just did another movie with Lynn Whitfield and she’s amazing. It’s like I’m doing a movie with Lynn Whitfield, Oh my gosh this really can happen! On meeting Eddie Murphy
Terrence J and I were fortunate to have Eddie Murphy on the show for the first time BET ever had him on the network. He’s been in the entertainment business for over 30 years now so having him on the show for the first time, it was pretty amazing. It was a lot of fun too. They did this whole skit with ‘Coming To America’ dancers. They came out and had rose petals going down the stairs and I’ll never forget his face when the curtain came up and he was like, “what’s going on?” It was like the most confusing face he’s ever had. He’s a lot of fun. On if she’s been on a yacht with Eddie Murphy
A yacht? I’ve never been on a yacht with Eddie Murphy. [On a beach?] I’ve gone to beaches but I’ve never been on a beach with Eddie before. [...] We’re friends.

After weeks of being snapped grabbing coffee together, going on vacations together with Eddie’s kids and more, Eddie Murphy and Rocsi Diaz made their first “red carpet” appearance together for Debra Lee’s Pre-BET Awards celebration in Los Angeles on Saturday. They were holding hands and each other as cameras flashed away and Rocsi cheesed it up for the camera. People have been throwing shade online saying that they are a hot mess of a couple, but in all their photos taken by the paps, they seem to have good chemistry and are into each other. But in these photos, they seem uncomfortable, him for sure. Anywho, this is their first real appearance together as an official couple, even though Rocsi kept saying the two were anything but that when inquiring minds wanted to know. Don’t know why these celebs like to play coy and then come out on the red carpet pretending like folks didn’t already know what was going on. Just do you, boo boo. Do you! Check out a few more pics and tell us if you’re seeing the chemistry or not. Body language does tell a lot, and Eddie is looking like a deer in headlights. But then again, this is his first time publicly taking a woman out in front of the camera in years…*Kanye shrug*
Well, all right. What do you think?
