Last night, VH1 and Mona Scott-Young held a premiere screening of “Love & Hip-Hop New York” and we were there to catch all the ratchetness as it unfolded. I wish I could say some of the things we witnessed was just for the cameras but it wasn’t — most times they weren’t even rolling. That means what you see of these people when the third season premieres Monday night at 8pm is absolutely who they are in real-life — skin-tight dresses, drunken slurs, ragged weaves, stank attitudes and all. Though next week we’ll show you all our exclusive one-on-one chats with the cast members, we couldn’t wait to bust out the classic moments and insider info we peeped last night. Oh and here’s the super trailer in case you need a debriefing before you dig in. Happy ratchetry!

While some men avoid the “M” word like the plague, others are simply waiting for the right time to pop the question. After all, this will probably be the most important question he asks in his life, so he’ll want to make sure he’s ready and that the timing is right. If you think he’s acting weird, or that he might not ever propose at all, let’s try to decipher his behavior by finding clues that he’s finally going to put a ring on it.

Say what you want about Amber Rose, Wiz Khalifa is making an honest woman out of Kanye’s old girl. Rumors about these two being engaged and even married have made their way through the blogosphere plenty of times, but today Wiz gave the official word that he put a ring on it.

Less than an hour ago, Wiz tweeted “She said Yes!!!” along with an instagram of Amber Rose’s left hand sporting a nice-sized rock on her ring finger. These two have been tonguing each other down in public for long enough that most of us we saw this coming—sorta kinda.

There’s no telling what these young lovebirds have in store for the wedding ceremony, but best wishes to them as they prepare to jump the broom! Is it safe to assume Ye’s gonna put his reaction in a song?

Just Kidding…Halle’s Not Getting Married

Somebody’s got some ‘splainin to do because according to TMZ, everybody jumped the gun about Halle Berry getting married to French actor Oliver Martinez.

The emerald ring she’s been wearing on her ring finger is the problem. Oliver bought it for Halle, but according to sources, it is by no means a symbol of their engagement. (Sigh.)

That doesn’t mean it could never happen. The sources added that Halle and Olivier are in a “committed relationship” and marriage “could be in the cards,” but as of right now? It ain’t happenin’. Let’s not forget US Magazine had their own sources who said the couple was going to make it official, though, so let’s see who gets the final word.  As long as they’re happy and still together that’s all that really matters.

Are you hoping Halle and Oliver tie the knot?

When Proposing by Mail Goes Wrong…

July 7th, 2011 - By Victoria Uwumarogie

You would think a man that could afford a $76,600 engagement ring would be able to find a way to propose to his girl in person. A romantic proposal by boat, plane, train or something snazzy, but at least memorable.

But somehow, Dallas Cowboy football star Roy E. Williams thought it was a good idea to propose to his girlfriend at the time, Brooke Daniels, a former Miss Texas USA, with the help of the U.S. Postal Service. He sent this extremely expensive piece of jewelry to her through the mail, along with a recorded proposal message. A signed affidavit provided by the Odessa American, signed by Williams, also claims that he sent along $5,000 to help her pay for school and dental bills, and provided a baseball for her brother. While he assumed all would be good and gravy, he was incorrect. The former beauty queen declined the brothas marriage proposal in February, and as of this moment, he still hasn’t received the ring back–through the mail how it was sent or nothing! At one point, Williams said in the affidavit that Daniels claimed she lost the ring, but according to her father, Michael Daniels, he says he has it and will try to return it to avoid legal action, though he claims the Cowboys’ wide receiver told his daughter to keep the ring. According to the Odessa American, papa Daniels said:

“I want to wash my hands of it,” Michael Daniels said. “It’s just a hassle. I’ll take care of my daughter. I don’t need him.”

No matter what Williams said post the engagement snafu, he now just wants the ring back. And according to Fox Sports Southwest, in Texas, engagement rings are classified as conditional gifts. So if one person breaks off the engagement, the ring goes to the other person (if the man breaks off the engagement, he loses claim to the ring. But there was no engagement agreement whatsoever…so is it just me, or should homegirl quit playing and give that ring back? She’s wrong for pretending that it shouldn’t have been returned immediately (to halt confusion or playing with his emotions at least), but what was HE thinking? Proposal by mail? Really Roy? You couldn’t have waited until your next visit to see her and get on one knee? Now that’s a no no.

Would you ever say yes to a proposal from the man you love if done by mail?
