‘I’d Rather Be Physically Cold Than Emotionally Cold:’ Rick Fox And His Young Girlfriend Call It Quits
Rick Fox and his girlfriend, actress Eliza Dushku have decided to throw in the towel after nearly five years of dating. It’s unclear if their split was amicable, but the “Bring It On” actress recently revealed that they decided to go their separate ways due to their conflicting desires to live on opposite coasts.
“Rick’s an LA guy and I’m a Boston girl,” the 33-year-old told The Boston Globe.
Apparently, Eliza could no longer tolerate the Los Angeles lifestyle. After leaving Rick, she decided to purchase a condo near her hometown in Massachusetts.
“Nobody in LA has a basement,” she said. “They all have the obligatory storage spaces in the Valley.”
As it turns out, basement-less houses aren’t the only thing that Eliza won’t miss about Los Angeles. She says she could do without the “emotionally cold” residents as well.
“I’d rather be a little physically cold here than emotionally cold in LA,” she said. “I missed my town and I missed my family.”
We’re not really sure if Eliza considers Rick to be one of those “emotionally cold” LA folks, but something seems especially cold about their breakup. Rick also confirmed their split this week during an appearance on “The View.”
“I’m single,” the “Hit The Floor” actor told Sherri Shepherd.
Rick vaguely spoke about marriage during his relationship with Eliza, but it’s unclear whether or not he ever had solid intentions of actually marrying her.
“You don’t go 20 months…without talking about marriage,” Rick told E! Online back in 2010. “I’ve been married before, so we definitely talk about the truth of what marriage is about. I’m not gunshy about marriage, even though I failed. I failed at it the first time, so my next opportunity will be one where I’ll be honestly more experienced and intelligent about it.”
Well, that’s that I suppose.

Back in the day, everybody had somebody they’d see in a movie or on television and say, “DAMN he’s fine!” Like the Idris Elbas and Lenny Kravitzs of today, in the ’90s and earlier we were fanning ourselves over these good looking guys. While some of our crushes didn’t blossom the way we thought they would, the good news is, these fellas just kept on looking good. Here are 14 fine men we used to crush on who managed to somehow stay delicious years (and a few kids) later.
Apparently being in a relationship with a beautiful and successful woman just isn’t enough for some men, perhaps even a lot of men depending on who you ask. Why can’t they be content with what they’ve got? We have no clue, but it’ quite strange considering many of these men cheat on women who they should probably be thanking their lucky stars ever even gave them the time of day to begin with. That’s certainly the case with these starlets below. Check out the women most entertainment stans were shocked to find were cheated on — and especially by these men.
Eric Benet had to have been all the way out his mind when he decided to cheat on ex-wife Halle Berry. She’s gorgeous, wealthy and talented – something you don’t find in just anybody. And considering Eric hadn’t recorded a hit in… forever, he probably should’ve thought twice before fudging up a relationship that seemingly benefited him more than her.
Hollywood has become so large and diverse that we oftentimes take for granted the fact that some of our favorite men were not made, born, or even bred in the US. Many come from England, others from Africa, some from the Caribbean, others from Continental Europe and still some from neighboring Canada. So let’s pause and take a closer look at some of the international fellas who are doing their thing all over the world. And really, when you get right down to it, what’s not to love about hot accents, exotic homelands, and multilingual abilities? I know, nothing. Click through!
Born Idrissa Akuna Elba in the East Ham district of London, England, Idris Elba is the son of a Sierra Leonean father and a Ghanaian mother. Taught to work hard, Elba mastered the art of DJ’ing while working for an uncle’s wedding DJ business, then working for himself on the London nightclub circuit. For a time, Elba followed in his father’s footsteps and took a job as a factory worker in an East London suburb. But Elba’s passion for music and, eventually, theater just wouldn’t quit, and by the mid 90’s he landed his first role on British TV. Since then, Elba has enjoyed massive success in British and American television, movies, and music, to all of our delight. We just love this fine, and somehow still single, man!
Love is blind. And, even if it wasn’t, it would welcome the differences that set people apart. Love acts independently of orientation, religious affiliation, gender, deformity, handicaps, weight, height, nationality and ethnicity. This sentiment is even shared in Hollywood. Some famous interracial couples are more popular than others, take for instance, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton, Iman and David Bowie, etc. So how about we direct some attention towards couples who are working in the background to keep their relationship working well? If you’re down, keep a-clickin’!
Essence Atkins & Jamie Mendez
Best known for her roles as Yvette Henderson on “Smart Guy,” Dee Dee Thorne on “Half & Half” and Suzanne Kingston-Persons on “Are We There Yet?,” Essence Atkins married Jamie Mendez in 2009 after meeting him online through Match.com. Hey, who said online dating couldn’t yield great results? The two welcomed a son, Varro Blair Mendez, into their lives on December 25, 2011.
So let’s see. We’ve done Barbadian folks, Haitian folks, Jamaican folks, Trinidadian folks and more, so what’s missing? The Bahamas of course! Many of our favorite actors and performers rep the country very hard, and some even own property there or represent as ambassadors. We’ve looked up a few and thought you’d like to know which black folks are Bahamian and how they’re tied to the country. Shall we proceed?
The child of a black Bahamian father and a white American mother, the “Breaker High” and “Girlfriends” star was born in Miami of all places, however, the actress was raised in Nassau. Coincidentally, it was her mother who moved the family to the Bahamas when she was a child, and it was for work purposes. During her time there, she even garnered a scholarship to the Nassau Civic Ballet Company when she was only three years old (uh, what was I doing at the age of three…?). Of course, since she and her family moved back to the US when she was eight, White has been back to the Bahamas on many different occasions. She even went with Caribbean Living a couple years ago and they documented her trip.
