These Promoters (And Gangsters) Keep Holding Him Back: Rick Ross Cancels Tour
Over the last few weeks, Rick Ross has been the subject of hip-hop news after videos surfaced of members of the Gangster Disciple gang threatening Ross. Apparently, they’re still upset because Ross shouted out Larry Hoover, one of the founders of the, one his “BMF” track. Well more recently, a North Carolina chapter of the gang allegedly sent death threats and released their own video to Ross and the MMG camp and now, two of the North Carolina dates on the second leg of the tour have been canceled, immediately prompting people to believe it was done so as a direct results of the threats.
However, MMG reps have released a statement and none of it had to do, as expected, with any gangs:
“Rick Ross has been engaging in a tour which commenced November 2 and was initially scheduled to continue until December 2. However, the tour was extended until December 16. Unfortunately, the tour promoter abruptly cancelled the Greensboro and Charlotte, NC, dates. Rick Ross completed the first leg of the tour without incident and eagerly anticipated performing the balance of the dates, but due to apparent lack of organization and communication on the part of tour promoter, the remaining shows of the tour will be canceled.”
So perhaps the promoters were fearful of possible violence at the concerts and wanted to avoid it by canceling the shows. It appears the problem is that the promoters canceled everything so suddenly that it didn’t allow for MMG to pick up the pieces and immediately do “damage control” with fans and venues.
Ross also reached out to allhiphop.com and sent a message to fans: “I want to apologize to all of my fans who I missed performing for due to the cancellations and want to let them know that I will get back to their cities. I enjoyed my experience with my little bros Wale and Meek Mill and I’m ready to get back in the studio to make good music.”
This is certainly an unfortunate situation as sales for the remaining shows in MS, TN, TX, CA, MI and NY were doing fairly well.
I guess gang dudes don’t get over anything because that song is beyond old at this point. Let the man make his money while the fans enjoy a show.
That’s Not Yo Baby Daddy — Or Anybody Else’s! Men Who Have Managed To Stay Baby Free In The Rap Game
A few things are just a given in the rap game: money, cars, chains, groupies, baby mamas, and, of course, a kid or two,or three, or four— except for these rappers it’s not. Breaking the overly fertile, be fruitful and multiply like Abraham and ‘dem stereotype that characterizes most rappers these days, these rhyme spitters have managed to not let the groupie love go to their head — or to at least remember to wrap it up every time they decide to get it in with the chick who makes her way from the concert to the hotel lobby to the hotel room.
We can’t help but appreciate these guys who know sprinkling their seed, and their hard-earned money in the form of child support payments, all across the globe is not a good look. Here are nine rappers who are most definitely not the father!
Mr. Rack City Racking Up A Huge Bill!
Perhaps all the non-entertainers of the world who manage money well should be come entertainment accountants.
According to TMZ, rapper Tyga is latest person to make news (well, entertainment news) for an unpaid bill. As per usual, Tyga has not paid rent on a mansion he signed a lease on in Malibu and is now being sued. As it stands, he owes $16,000…for ONE MONTH of unpaid rent. For $16,000 per month, he should probably have bought a house. But back to the story.
The owner or representative for the house, Gholamreza Rezai, filed the suit against Tygas and his music company for the back rent as well as unspecified damages. Rezai said Tyga just signed the one year lease in June but then told him he wanted to move out by the end of September because he had no privacy and fans kept showing up at his front door. However, Rezai wasn’t really into the idea of entertaining a discussion on lease termination and told Tyga he needed to pay September’s rent.
According to Rezai, not only did Tyga not pay September’s rent but he also didn’t move out at the end of the month and is still living there. I guess you have to love those renter’s rights, huh? If that’s the case, you have to wonder why if Tyga is just living there out of spite since he said he doesn’t feel safe.
Along with Rezai’s request for the back pay and damages, he also wants Tyga to be forced, by the courts, to move out.

Hot In Herreee! Nelly’s Tour Bus Found With Drugs And A Weapon But He Says “It Wasn’t Me!”
Rappers and their entourages…I just don’t know what to say.
On Thursday night, Nelly’s tour bus (there’s a joke in there somewhere) was stopped at a very well-known checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas and the cops found probably more than they even expected. During the routine check, the cops found and seized one .45 caliber pistol, 36 baggies of heroine and about 10 pounds of weed. Yes, this is true.
Nelly and his entire crew were detained but ultimately, one of the security guards, Brian Keith Jones, said everything belonged to him. He was officially placed under arrest and everyone else, including Nelly, were free to go.
Early Friday morning at about 2am, Nelly went on a mini-rant on Twitter saying, “I’m not gone front I’m MAD as Hell about this sh#t!!2have some1 who works 4u n who u call a friend 4 ova 10years jeopardize ur life WTF?…That being said he was not only an employee but he was fam some1 who protected my life 4many years! No excuses for wad he did!!!!… My heart goes out to his fam and is kids!!!!” (Everyone understand that? Okay.)
Now, I’m confused as to why this security guard would bring bags of heroine on the bus of a superstar (yes, he’s still famous) and not tell the bus driver that he needed to take a different route? I mean, artists like Fiona Apple, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson have all found themselves in trouble at this checkpoint. Further, why would you put the person you’re supposed to be protecting at risk for being arrested? This is all quite weird but hopefully, Nelly will make better decisions about his employees.
By the way, Nelly was in Atlanta Friday night hosting his “alleged” boo Ashanti’s birthday party and celebrating with her so seems like all is well.
Rappers and entourages…when will they ever learn?
Rappers Beefing and Guns (Allegedly) Popping? Oh Yes, It’s The BET Hip Hop Awards!
This is why we can’t let some rappers get more famous than a few spins on the radio, some videos and some tours.
There was a fight last night in Atlanta during the taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards. This time the culprits were Young Jeezy and Rick Ross who are continuing some silly beef that started last year. The quick backstory is that Ross, if you’ll remember (or if you ever cared), had a song out called “BMF.” Jeezy had an affiliation with the actual BMF (Black Mafia Family) crew and I believe he was a little offended by Ross naming a song after them. He threw some musical jabs at Ross, Ross threw some jabs back and so, here we are.
Some kind of way Jeezy and Ross crossed paths backstage while the show was going on. From what was gathered through Funkmaster Flex’s Twitter account, there were words exchanged which quickly turned into…pushing and shoving. I’m don’t at all condone grown men fighting but if you feel inclined to do something, perhaps you should just go with a punch versus some schoolyard pushing. But, I digress. The details actually get a little fuzzy at this point but the Atlanta Police Department, who was called to the scene, say there were no arrests, no injuries and no gunshots involved in the altercation. Speaking of guns, however, All Hip-Hop reports that rappers Gunplay and 50 Cent had a hand in this entire fiasco. To add insult to injury, the fight happened during the tribute to the late Chris Lighty.
This is really ridiculous. Has a year gone by where the BET Hip Hop Awards has fully taped without something stupid like this happening? Is it a prerequisite that some rapper(s) must agree to embarrass the industry in this way? These are men pushing 40 years old fighting over things that mean…nothing. Sure, the people in charge at BET should have done a much better job at making sure the two rappers (and their entourages because you know the entourages are more foolish than the artist) never crossed paths. However, it is up to these grown men to accept that they just don’t like each other and keep it moving. Don’t even acknowledge each other.
Some people just don’t deserve the spotlight. They have no idea what to do with it.

Have Rappers Gone From Repping The Disenfranchised To Repping The Upper Crust?
From Black Voices
Super rapper Jay-Z and his recent comments regarding the Occupy movement are a great example of the unfortunate shift within the Hip-Hop culture from representing the poor and disenfranchised to essentially shunning them. In a New York Times Magazine profile the Jiggaman had this to say about the Occupy movement.
“What’s the thing on the wall, what are you fighting for? I’m not going to a park and picnic, I have no idea what to do, I don’t know what the fight is about. What do we want, do you know?”
Clearly Jay-Z is intelligent enough to know that the basic premise behind the Occupy movement is the disproportionate distribution of wealth in America and the excessive greed by Wall Street bankers, which is the primary catalyst for this country’s economic woes, particularly the growing poor class, both working and not. Not to mention that Jay-Z’s Rockafella clothing line began producing ‘Occupy Wall Street’ shirts and refused to donate any of the profits to the movement he was stealing from. The king of Hip-Hop is also the king of what’s wrong with Hip-Hop.

Where Are They Now? 11 Singers and Rappers Who Didn’t Blow Up Like We Thought They Would…
We’ve talked many a time about people we used to jam to in the music industry who didn’t go as far and become as big of staples in said industry as we thought they would. To put it less than nicely, they fell off. It could have been that their sound just wasn’t all that, or that their look wasn’t HOT enough (no crotch shots, no love) for the mainstream, but you won’t find these people with near as many fans as say a Drake or a Rihanna has today. Not to say that they didn’t have their share of success, but c’mon, where are they now?

Amerie
After Amerie dropped her debut album, All I Have, the future looked incredibly bright for the Korean and African American singer. She had a different look, a different voice, and a great personality. And once she dropped “One Thing,” the lead single for her second album (Touch), which hit number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, I assumed more and more doors were going to open for the singer. But while she had Beyonce’s producers for her second album, she didn’t have Bey’s success. Though Touch did reach gold status, it wasn’t enough for her label, Columbia Records. She was dropped in 2007. Since then, Amerie released another album, In Love and War, which didn’t sell well at all thanks to a lack of radio support. She has hopes to release a new album, under the name Ameriie, and she’s given herself a big makeover by chopping off her hair and slimming down her nose.
