Cassie Goes In On Twitter Critics: Eff A Blog, I’m Getting Mine

While everyone else was having a chill Labor Day cooking out, hanging with friends, and having a cocktail or two, Cassie was taking the time to get some angry things off of her chest. For some reason, Monday afternoon seemed to be the moment Diddy’s “girlfriend” had enough of the back talk about her seemingly one-sided relationship with the Bad Boy and her so-so career, so of course she decided to pop off about both — and the critics who have something to say about them — on Twitter (and Instagram because you know you gotta do both).

Last thing: F**K a blog & anyone that makes up bulls**t – you ain’t s**t. I never even give a thought to unvalidated s**t that gets posted online, but I’m tired of it. Been committed for a LONG time to someone and I am sooooo in LOVE with HIM! Continue to call me names that you don’t even know the definitions to and wait for this fall, #RockaByeBaby. I’m getting mine. Have a great f**kin day. This is dedicated to YOU :: http://bit.ly/ON2MRh – Please get YOUR thirsty a**es some water.

Umm, OK.

I don’t think anyone ever questioned Cassie’s commitment to Diddy, what we’ve all been trying to figure out is just how committed, if at all, he is to her. Sure, he laces her with bags of money and expensive vacays, but when you’re trying to pull a Beyonce and Jay-Z but look more like Ashanti and Nelly, people are going to talk.

Cassie’s rant didn’t stop the backlash either. One angry tweet got Cassie back in her feelings with a “shut the eff up” and the user was subsequently blocked for saying:

@CassieSuper Perhaps if you weren’t f**king your creepy old boss………. Poor that :( thinking the blogs or anybody for that matter cares that much about her outside of the weirdo f**king her old a** boss. Mod?? Go serve Diddy his Viagra and hush nasty child prostitute. You brought this all on yourself.  Gorl. You are fuming. Get off twitter and go suck Diddy’s wrinkly p*nis for a record that ain’t never coming out :(

That was a bit harsh, but not far from what most people think about Cassie. Someone should have told her shade comes with the biz.

What do you think about Cassie’s rant?

Cat Got Your Tongue? An Open Letter To People Who Act Like They Can’t Speak

July 13th, 2012 - By Clarke Gail Baines

Source: brotherswithnogame.com

Hello. How are you? And what the hell is your problem?

That is what I always want to say to you individuals who walk into the office of my job, the home of my mother (as a guest of a sibling or other family members), or who I KNOW I’ve met on a different occasion who probably remember me too, BUT DON’T SPEAK. No “Hello, I’m looking for…” no “Hey, how you doing?” and not even a doggone head nod that without words still shows you acknowledge those around you. Cat got your tongue?

Allow me to blow off some steam real quick. I don’t know about anybody else, but my mother always taught me that when you walk into other people’s homes, or anything that doesn’t belong to you and find yourself exposed to others, you should be ready and willing to throw a greeting someone’s way. And movies like Don’t Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood taught me, in simpler yet hood-complex terms, that fools need to make themselves known when they roll up in someone’s spot. Point. Blank. Period.

Yet and still, I’ve watched in awe as the friends of my nieces and nephews waltzed into my mother’s home on Thanksgiving evening and barely opened up their mouths as they made jokes that only my niece could hear. I’ve watched people with a false sense of entitlement walk into an office full of folks and just start waltzing around, staring into glass offices, looking for people like they own the place instead of simply saying, “Hi, sorry to bother you, but I’m looking for ___.” Instead, somebody has had to end up saying, sometimes in a hostile manner, “CAN I HELP YOU!?”

And who else has tried to smile, wave or say hello to someone they’ve worked with on a project, met at an event, know through mutual friends and more, only to have them play you like Boo Boo The Fool? My first full-time job and whole college experience was filled with moments where I would slave over a project with a classmate, joke about the most random of things in the process and get a good grade together,  only to have that individual pass me at the gym, walking on campus, or in a new class and pretend they hadn’t seen me before and didn’t know me from Adam. Sadly, I can count about one person (outside of the black people I worked with in Afro-American Literature classes only because of a lack of diversity) who actually made a conscious effort to greet me and talk like we were old friends outside of assignments. What’s more sad is, he’s become one of those Anti-Obama ranters who acts a damn fool on Facebook and make me wonder if I should delete them from my friends list quickly and quietly before November…And don’t get me started on the folks that sit next to you in cubicles but will see you on the street and be ready to walk in the opposite direction.

I’m not asking for a “HEY GIRL HEY!” or something over-the-top, stereotypical or something that requires me to divulge everything that has happened in my life since I last saw you, but Lawd knows I hate trying to be the bigger person to say hello to a phony baloney individual who tried to walk past me with their head down on the sly like our eyes didn’t meet. Nor do I appreciate having to ask a guest who they are when they are walking up into my ish, or place of work. I know technology has made a few folks scary about having human interaction and you’d prefer to text me “hello,” but lack of home training also lends itself as a reason why anyone would find this behavior okay. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t speak, but it sure as hell is rude. Please, do better.

You Played Yourself: Miami Fire Captain Demoted After Trayvon Martin Rant on Facebook

May 15th, 2012 - By Victoria Uwumarogie

Depending on what the case is, if you ask our Facebook followers if a person should get in trouble with their employers for things they say on their personal Facebook pages, a majority often say no. But I’m sure when folks read what former fire captain Brian Beckmann had to say on his account, a few people will rethink their stance for at least a moment.

In his social media post, Beckmann called out prosecutor Angela Corey (who charged George Zimmerman with second-degree murder for killing Trayvon Martin) for her choice to seek second-degree murder charges on Zimmerman, as well as the parents of “urban youth” for being welfare folks who can’t take care of their responsibilities. In his opinion of course.

“I and my co-workers could rewrite the book on whether our urban youths are victims of racist profiling or products of their failed, sh–bag, ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents, but like Mrs. Corey, we speak only the truth.”

If that wasn’t enough, Beckmann finished his rant by saying, “They’re just misunderstood little church-going angels and the ghetto hoodie look doesn’t have anything to do with why people wonder if they’re about to get jacked by a thug.”

Though he thought himself to be mighty slick, according to The Miami Herald, someone took a screenshot of the post and sent it to Beckmann’s bosses. The folks at human resources agreed that his comments were not only inappropriate, but very unacceptable. It was decided on Monday that he would be punished for his words and be demoted back to a firefighter. Why? Well, because even though his Facebook has nothing to do with his work, by spouting a whole lot of nonsense and involving his co-workers in his post (“I and my co-workers…”), he shook the confidence of the public as someone who is supposed to be in charge. His disciplinary action report said this:

“While the opinion posted may have been personal, as a captain with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, it greatly disrupted the public’s confidence in our entire organization as a result of the reference to ‘my co-workers.’”

When you put it like that, it does make some sense. But Beckmann doesn’t think so, and an appeal has already been filed to get the demotion overturned. In the meantime, until the appeal process can begin and end, Beckmann will be on administrative leave and his return is pending a completed psychological evaluation and diversity training. Yeah. I’m sure that will go a long way…In a response to the fire chief, Beckmann said, “I promise that I will try harder than ever to be a decent and professional public servant to the citizens of Miami-Dade County.”

Not sure why Beckmann felt the need to try and pull the “urban youths who are products of their failed environment and crappy parents” in reference to the Martin case. Trayvon’s parents aren’t on welfare, and he was killed while trying to navigate the gated community his father lived in. And for the umpteenth time, can people stop playing stupid and fess up to the fact that EVERYBODY owns at least one hoodie!? Can we please stop acting like a hooded sweater is all the excuse someone needs to feel intimidated and open fire on someone not posing a threat to them? It’s tired at this point, and we all know the real reason Trayvon was targeted by George Zimmerman.

No need for me to do my own rant, so I’ll just wrap it up by asking you this: Do you think his department made the right decision to demote him? I mean, the man still has his job, but they just didn’t see him fit for a leadership role. Was that a good decision, or in your mind, were they wrong and is this just another case of free speech being attacked?

Florida Student Goes on Violent Rant Against White People in Discussion on Evolution

March 22nd, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

A bizarre situation erupted in a Florida Atlantic University classroom a couple of days ago during a discussion on evolution. Professor Stephen Kajiura had been discussing female selection among peacocks when Jonatha Carr interrupted the lesson and began asking racially-charged questions, like why does evolution kill black people?

When the professor couldn’t answer her unexpected question, Jonatha became enraged and started yelling at the professor and other students in the class, and even threatened them.

“She became increasingly belligerent,” Professor Kajiura told the University Press. “It was at this point, a highly emotionally charged individual who was no longer capable of responding rationally. She was threatening to kill both me and the students in the class.”

After several minutes of getting in other students faces, calling them the n-word, and seemingly slapping one of the white male students, a school official entered the classroom and attempted to get Johnica to leave. Their interaction turned into a violent altercation and police had to carry the student into the back of a squad car, at which time a Taser was reportedly used to subdue her.

Because it was pretty clear Johnica’s outburst was not simply fueled by rage, the young woman was taken to a hospital for involuntary examination under the Florida Mental Health Act. Still, the Dean of Students took immediate action against the student and she has now been expelled.

Check out the video recorded by one of the students in the classroom here. Do you think expulsion is fair if Johnica was having some sort of mental breakdown?

Ouch! Evelyn Tells Jennifer She’ll Never be a White Girl

January 27th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

It’s not enough that the stars of “Basketball Wives” can’t be in each other’s presence for more than five minutes without drinks being thrown, but Evelyn and Jennifer have managed to keep the bi-coastal drama going strong even when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Last night, Evelyn went on a nasty Twitter rant after hearing about Jennifer’s Sister 2 Sister interview. She told the magazine the basis of the beef is Evelyn’s jealousy because she’s friends with Nene Leakes (odd) and Mashonda:

“I feel like it’s all coming from a place of hurt, and she’s turning it into anger. Why do you care who I’m friends with? Like, that’s ridiculous. I live in New York. You live in Miami. I don’t care who you hang out with. I’m kinda over it because I just feel like I’m at a point at my life where I’m trying to get rid of negative energy. To me, I feel like it’s something so minuscule. It’s not like I slept with Chad. It’s not something irreparable. It’s something stupid that you’re mad over. If you really are mad because I have other friends, I think that’s completely ridiculous.”

As comes as no surprise, Evelyn didn’t let that get far at all. She went in on Jennifer immediately when she tweeted:

“So @iamjennifer thinks I’m MADD that’s she’s hanging out with @NeNeLeakes ??? B**** pls! Interview coming soon…. #ItsOnContacts”

“Tired of this heffa constantly running her mouth to remain relevant! @iamjennifer Let’s talk boo! You will never WIN!”

“@iamjennifer No matter how long u walk around with those purple contacts, u will never be a white girl! #InsecureA**”

It’s kind of bad when a non-black woman has to check your blackness. But Chad stepped in and did a little checking of his own and that shut Evelyn up for the night.

“The man has spoken***DROPS MIC*** RT @ochocinco: @EvelynLozada Do not send another tweet out if it’s not positive.”

Maybe Chad isn’t as bad as he seems. Somebody needs to step in and tell these two public beef is not cute.

Do you think it’s time for Evelyn and Jennifer to make up or should they just go their separate ways quietly?

Gabrielle Union Goes on Education Twitter Rant

January 20th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

I’ve never been a fan of Gabrielle Union, but I’m really starting to like the actress more and more.

On Twitter she dropped some knowledge on parenting and education yesterday that’s not typical of her Hollywood peers. Here’s what she tweeted:

“When a parent can tell me their childs fave basketball player/rapper/actor but doesn’t know the name of their kids teacher #RAGE.”

“Great ur kid wants to model…but is she a MODEL STUDENT?! We’ve gotta get serious about education! #RAGE.”

“You can’t blame the kids if the adults are the ones distracted from what’s truly important…education is key!”

“It takes a village…even if u don’t have kids or urs are grown, sometimes its just a word, gesture, lil effort 2 show kids the way #education.”

“Looks fade, money runs dry, fame leaves, entourage moves on 2 stuck some1 else dry…Education is forever.”

Of course people threw a few speculative responses at her, but she handled them well, letting the twitterverse know, number one, she was the one tweeting: “What assistant?! I do things 4 myself darlin.”

And number two, she has the credentials to back up her rant: “Sociology degree from UCLA paid 4 w/ student loans & job at the book store.”

I also love that she shut down rumors that she paid for D Wade’s lavish 30th birthday party last week:

I WAS NOT responsible 4 the car or party, I’m on a blk actress budget! #education

I never thought I’d say this, but I actually wouldn’t mind seeing more of her now. These are the type of actresses that need publicity.

Are you a fan of Gabrielle Union? What do you think about what she had to say about parenting and education?

Woman in Protective Custody After Racist Train Rant

December 2nd, 2011 - By Brande Victorian

In this day and age it ought to be a given that if you act a fool in public, someone will record you and expose your foolishness to the world on YouTube.  That’s exactly what happened to Emma West, a woman in the UK who, with her 4-year-old child in lap, went off about black people on a public train, telling them they weren’t British because they’re black and that they should go back to their own country.

Death threats were sent to the woman after the video, “My Tram Experience,” was shot by Kelly Hollingsworth and posted online, and police say they had no choice but to lock her up “for her own protection” as “there is a serious risk of her being injured in revenge attack by the public,” Metro.co.uk reported.

West was also referred for psychiatric evaluation, but patriotic organizations like British First say “Locking this feisty English mother up in jail only reinforces the suspicion that if you are British then you are a second class citizen in your own country,” according to its website.

West will appear in court again on Tuesday.

Do you think police should have locked this woman up, even if it is her for her own safety? After watching the video, do you think she needed to be referred for a psych eval?

Tyrese Kicked Off Radio Station for Speaking Against Liquor Stores Near Schools

September 29th, 2011 - By Victoria Uwumarogie
Share to Twitter Email This

Well look who decided to have a “Fight the Power” moment and speak out against something? No, not Kanye for the billionth time, but R&B singer Tyrese. Can’t say I saw that one coming…

According to the singer, and our friends over at TMZ, Tyrese went on WJKS KISS 101.7 in Delaware to promote his new album (what new album?). Tyrese allegedly saw a liquor store near a school on the way to the station, and once on air, decided to make a passionate plea for people in the Delaware community to do something about it. The audio from the interview released finds the singer saying, “Get them cats out of here … selling alcohol right across from your kids school, homie — put the pressure on them homie … you know how to put pressure on dudes selling in your hood.” I’m guessing the owner of the show wasn’t feeling his out of the blue activism, because when they went to commercial, Tyrese was asked to hit the road. According to TMZ, the owner confirmed that he felt as though Tyrese was “disrespecting the Delaware community.”

Per the usual, Tyrese took to his Twitter page to let his followers know what happened and how backwards the situation was. He summed it up by saying, “If you don’t STAND for something.. You will damn near fall for Anything.” It’s so interesting the things Tyrese seems to get riled up about these days. Remember when he went in on Kim Kardashian for not “supporting” La La Anthony and her show “La La’s Full Court Wedding” like he felt she should have? Couldn’t get behind that one. But I definitely understand where he’s coming from this time around. Alcohol around the kids? Not the best look. But I must say, I’m thinking he must have dropped an F bomb or something because kicking someone off of a radio show for having an honest opinion about something that does the affect the community, just doesn’t seem like the normal procedure…

But what do you think? Read more about the incident at TMZ.com.

Angry Much? Serena Williams Calls Umpire a “Loser” During U.S. Open Match

September 12th, 2011 - By Victoria Uwumarogie
Share to Twitter Email This

Was anybody else extremely shocked by the fact that Serena Williams didn’t win the U.S. Open finals match against Samantha Stosur on Sunday? I had been following William’s matches during the tournament and became more and more enthralled with her play after watching her wax the floor with most of her opponents during the tourney. But on Sunday, she lost 6-3 and 6-2 to Stosur, and I don’t want to call her a sore loser, but she sure wasn’t a pleasant one.

Granted, Serena didn’t flip out on Stosur during the match or after, rather, she kind of had an out-of-body experience with the match umpire, Eva Asderaki. Williams is known for screaming “c’mon” from time to time when she’s succeeded in getting a great shot during the match or when she successfully gets a point after a tough back and forth with her opponent. After saying it and sending forth a fiery shot that Stosur wasn’t able to hit back, umpire Asderaki ruled that Williams shouted with the intent to disrupt her opponent. It was a call many didn’t agree with, but none more than Williams. Confusing Asderaki with the umpire she infamously threatened at the U.S. Open two years earlier, Williams said, “Aren’t you the one that screwed me over last time? Yeah, you are. Seriously, you have it out for me. I promise you, that’s not cool, that’s totally not cool. I truly despise you.” Williams later went on to call Asderaki a “hater” during a break from play and during commercials, and the rant got worse:

“If you ever see me walking down the hallway, look the other way, cause your out of control. You’re out of control. You’re a hater, you’re just unattractive inside. Who would do such a thing? And I never complain. Wow, what a loser. I get a code violation because I express myself, we’re in America last time I checked. Can I get a water? Or am I going to get violated for a water? Really, don’t even look at me. I promise you, don’t look at me because I am not the one. Don’t look my way.”

And unfortunately for Asderaki, she was not the umpire who allegedly “screwed” Serena over before. The two women look nothing alike by the way. When Williams was confronted about that and her remarks, she said she couldn’t even remember what she said, it was just that intense out on the court. However, she offered up no apology to the umpire, or for her anger. I love Serena, but man oh man, she’s got to work on that mouth! To check out video of the whole incident, click HERE.

But what do you think? Did she go too far with her rant?
