Hot in Harlow, Cute in Kate: The Best Pieces From Nicole Richie’s Fashion Empire

celebrityclothingline.com
Nicole Richie has been dubbed the queen of “boho chic” and has found a way to transform her effortless yet sophisticated sense of style into a lucrative fashion business. The adopted daughter of legendary singer Lionel Richie, who has a net worth of about $4 million, has appeared in ads for Bongo jeans and Jimmy Choo, which no doubt fueled her interest in the business of fashion even further. Richie’s first fashion accessories line, House of Harlow 1960, named for her daughter, is a nod to the vibrant colors and geometric jewelry and shoes that were a vital part of 60s style. The line was launched in 2009, along with Nicole Richie’s Winter Kate collection (also named after her daughter), which features the over-sized blouses, maxi skirts and dress shorts that are staples in bohemian wardrobes. Richie also created a line of maternity clothing for Pea in the Pod, and modeled the clothing during her own pregnancies.
In February of this year, the fashion mogul introduced the Nicole Richie Collection for QVC; the prices for clothing begin at about $75, making the outfits more affordable to the general public. According to Richie, she wanted this line to give women something fabulous to wear at a moment’s notice, at a budget-friendly price. With the power of QVC behind the line, the Nicole Richie Collection has a great chance for success–much like the designer’s other ventures.

Is there anything Jennifer Hudson can’t do? The 30-year-old singer, Oscar winner, author, and Weight Watcher’s spokesperson has a number of successes under her belt and now she’s setting her sights on a new venture: fashion.
Woman’s Wear Daily reports the newly minted fashion designer will introduce the Jennifer Hudson Collection for QVC in September.
Recently, Jennifer famously lost 80 pounds on Weight Watchers and dropped from a size 16 to a size 6. She told WWD that her new line will feature clothes for those sizes and in between:
“I feel like I represent every woman. I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I’ve been a big girl and now whatever this is, the average size, whatever you want to call it. But I wanted the clothes to be where any girl could wear it — no matter what size you are — and you could feel comfortable in it.”
The line is being touted as “affordable”, but that’s a relative term considering a purchase will set you back $75 for a sheer maxiskirt, 74.50 for a bodycon dress and $50 for a pair of leggings. The most expensive of the 14-piece line is a $170 coat.
The designs are inspired by Jennifer’s own style. And if you thought you had a lot of clothes, this celeb says she owns 300 pairs of leggings!
”I’m the legging queen. What I love about a legging is, again, it’s a piece you can dress up or down and it’s still comfortable.”
Woman’s Wear Daily reports that QVC is excited about the line. Doug Howe, QVC’s executive vice president of merchandising, planning and sales, says: ”[Jennifer] has this great Cinderella story, an aspiration for different women. We don’t overtly go out to target someone who is Hispanic or African-American. We never look at it that way. It all starts with the person’s story and product. That dictates who buys it.”
Are you excited to hear about Jennifer’s clothing line? Will you be wearing her designs?
