If you follow Beyoncé on Instagram, you may have seen her ask her followers and fans to submit video questions about her self titled album under the hashtag #AskBeyonce. Well, she finally answered those questions in a release party and screening promoting the album on Saturday at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She addressed how she was able to keep everything secret, the trepidation she felt before releasing it and how she was able to be so sexually expressive on this record. Check out a few highlights and then watch the entire 11 min conference in the video below.

“I just got off the stage, it was 11:30 once I took off. I had a glass of wine and my cousin Angie was like, ‘Girl, are you alright?’ because I was talking to myself and I was terrified. I was so scared. I had already envisioned the worst things that could happen. I’m like ‘People, are going to hate it! Why didn’t I say anything?’ Audience gasps and what not.—No, it’s just things that we all go through. It’s just human.—And I was just really nervous because this was a huge risk. And when I landed I saw it actually live on iTunes and you’re waiting for the first comment. The next morning I just was… starts dancing and smiling. Thank you Lord.”

Her personal life and being so sexually expressive

“You know I’ve always been very generous on the stage. I took all of my pain, all of my joy and I performed, I used it in my performance. But I’m very private, I’m very respectful. And it just took me no longer being someone’s child, you know? Once I became a mother, I felt like I could tear down those fourth walls. I just felt like it was time. I completely feel liberated and I felt like I could no longer create my art for other people. So I just felt like it was time.”

Carnival Cruise CEO: We’re Trying to Make Everyone Comfortable On That Stranded And Disgusting Ship

In an attempt to do a little damage control, Gerry Cahill, the CEO of the cruise company Carnival, said in a news conference yesterday that they’re doing what they can to make passengers aboard the ship stranded in the Gulf of Mexico as comfortable as possible.

“No one here from Carnival is happy about the conditions on board the ship,” quotes USA Today. “We obviously are very, very sorry about what is taking place.”

Conditions on the ship have been deteriorating, and the media has been there to report it. I’ve heard the TODAY show report on the status of the passengers on the boat (it’s called the Triumph), each morning this week, with people reporting toilets that don’t flush and high temperatures because of a lack of A/C, which make certain rooms without windows hot and stuffy.

USA Today continues:

Passengers on the 102,000-ton ship who have been able to reach relatives and news outlets have described overflowing toilets and a stench so bad that it was making some passengers sick.

“There’s water and feces all over the floor,” one of the passengers told her husband, Brian Nutt, in a call from the ship on Monday. “The whole ship stinks extremely badly.”

There are concerns that people can become sick as a result of the conditions.

The ship became stranded on Sunday after a fire knocked out its systems. A couple of passengers in need of medical attention have been evacuated. Mobile phone service has been intermittent. And fresh water and certain supplies have been delivered to the ship. Otherwise, passengers are waiting while Triumph is towed to Mobile, AL. It’s expected to reach the dock on Thursday. About 1,500 rooms in Mobile and New Orleans have been reserved for the rescued passengers. CNN says chartered flights will take passengers to Houston the following day in order to head home. There are about 4,000 people on board, including the crew.

Carnival has cancelled the next dozen trips on the Triumph.

NRA Calls For Armed Guards at Schools Nationwide, Gets Little Support

A protester, dressed as the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre, outside of today’s press conference.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) held its awaited press conference today, suggesting a new program that would put an armed guard at “every school” nationwide.

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” said Wayne LaPierre, the organization’s EVP. He reprimanded the media, saying that it had “demonized gun owners,” blamed violent video games, and criticized politicians for seeking stronger gun control laws.

“Politicians pass laws for gun free school zones, they issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them. And, in doing so, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk,” LaPierre also said in his remarks, which you can read in full here.

The NRA is calling for the creation of the National School Shield, which would train armed security guards.

The NRA had stayed noticeably quiet following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT last Friday that killed 26 people, including 20 children ages six and seven. Indeed, the NRA blamed everything except guns for the tragedy.

Moreover, the group is being taken to task on Twitter and in the media for its inability to secure its own press conference. Protesters interrupted the event not once, but twice.

“Even while the N.R.A. was offering to help schools better protect themselves, it proved unable to guard its own media event from protesters,” writes The New York Times.

Gun sales have gone up in the wake of the horror, with concerned parents even investing in backpack armor for their children. The President has pledged to put a gun control proposal before Congress next month, with a task force led by VP Joe Biden expected to also look at secondary issues surrounding gun violence, like the state of mental health treatment in this country. Many people, including some in Washington who were previously staunch supporters of the NRA and its agenda, have come out in favor of some changes to tighten up the laws.

Criticism of the NRA’s proposal today came swiftly and furiously. For those who’ve never been supporters of the NRA (and those who don’t believe every person in the US should be armed to the teeth, which includes many gun owners), the speech landed somewhere on the spectrum between “out-of-touch” and “insane.”

Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg (NJ) is quoted on the ABC News site: “It is beyond belief that following the Newtown tragedy, the National Rifle Association’s leaders want to fill our communities with guns and arm more Americans.”

Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy (CT) tweeted, “Walking out of another funeral and was handed the NRA transcript. The most revolting, tone deaf statement I’ve ever seen.”

Even Michael Steele, the former RNC chairman, said, “I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that our country now is talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms,” on MSNBC today. “What does that say about us? I do not believe that is where the American people want to go,” he added. (via Politico)

The press conference was shocking, given that this was supposed to be a response to a mass killing that left small children dead in their school. More guns are the answer? Unbelievable. And indefensible as evidenced by the NRA’s refusal to take questions… at a press conference. What do you think?

Dear Jen, I Know Your Feelings (And Your Face) Are Hurt But It’s Not This Serious

I’ve been riding with Jennifer Williams pretty tough on this season of “Basketball Wives.” She’s been able to hold it down as a lady despite shenanigans with Evelyn every time they come across each other—and in spite of the reaction most of us would have coming across a chick that bonkers. But today, Jen has thrown me for a bit of a loop because not only is she filing a lawsuit against Evelyn’s assistant Nia Crooks, who we saw slap her up on Monday night’s episode, she’s also holding a press conference to make the announcement. What is this, the inauguration?

I will hand it to Jen for keeping her word. In February, she told the Breakfast Club that she won’t hit anybody physically on camera but she will hit them with a lawsuit, which is exactly what she’s doing tomorrow, but what’s with all the pomp and circumstance? Tomorrow at 11 am we’re all supposed to anxiously tune in to listen to her civil attorney, Sanford Rubenstein Esq, address the civil lawsuit filed in New York County Supreme Court and then turn around and hear her criminal attorney, Sabrina Puglisi, talk about the status of the criminal complaint filed by Jennifer in the state of Florida. Why? We already know what this is about—not a bruised cheek more like a bruised ego.

Speaking of bruises, the assault and battery charge seems a bit extreme as well. Technically, Jen was assaulted when Nia walked up on her and popped her in the face but, I don’t know, something about it just rubs me the wrong way. Call me ratchet it you like but instead of sitting there and taking that smack like she didn’t see it coming, Jen needed to let Nia know not to ever lay hands on her again by giving her a taste of her own medicine. I know she doesn’t want to fight on camera, but I wouldn’t want to get disrespected and punked like that on camera either, and if Nia really doesn’t have anything worth suing her for like Jenn said during the altercation, again I find myself asking, what is this all about?

I’m sure part of this whole fiasco is to excite her storyline on “Basketball Wives,” and I understand how important it is to be a mother f***ing factor on the show, but I liked how she was ignoring the BS and handling most of the drama on the low. I think she should have done the same thing with this situation. File your papers (if you must), talk about it during your next media appearance, but don’t hype up this foolishness for no reason—unless she’s about to sue er’body. There was that interesting conversation about all of the ladies getting notices that Jen would take legal action if things got out of hand during taping. Now if she drops news tomorrow that she’s taking everybody down then I take everything I said back because that is definitely press conference worthy. And if that is the case, I just hope Jen thoroughly understands the phrase biting the hand that feeds you because if she tries to take Shaunie and VH1 down, it’s game over for her and her BBW legacies and I’m pretty sure that lip gloss line she’s working on will not pay her bougie bills. I’d also like to suggest a kickboxing class during her downtime.

Here’s a clip from the fight that led up to Jen’s lawsuit. Do you think she’s doing too much filing criminal and civil lawsuits against Nia or is it a smart move?

Rihanna Catches a Serious ‘Tude When Asked About Ashton Kutcher Rumors

I don’t know if you heard the rumors that Rihanna and Ashton Kutcher supposedly have a thang going on but last week TMZ reported Rih Rih was creeping to his house way past midnight, i.e. there was a booty call in their midst.

Well yesterday one bold reporter decided to ask Rihanna about that rumor during a press conference in London to promote her new movie, “Battleship,” and all I know is the look on Rihanna’s face when the reporter asked if Ashton would be coming to London to visit her was absolutely priceless, as was her response:

“Wow, how disappointing was that question,” she said. [Pause for side-eye, flaring of the nostrils, and shaking of the head]

“I’m happy and I’m single, if that’s what you’re really asking.” [Insert subtle eye roll]

So was that a no?

To be fair, Rihanna seemed like she wasn’t in the mood for any type of questions at the press event but that reporter clearly set her off. It does Rihanna no justice to simply relay her reaction so check out the video here and see for yourself. What do you think about her response?

President Obama Says If He Had a Son He’d Look Like Trayvon Martin

Source: clutchmagonline

Well, some of us got our wish. Just yesterday we were wondering why President Barack Obama hadn’t made a statement about the murder of Trayvon Martin. While some argued that this was a matter the president shouldn’t speak on, others cited the fact that he reached out to Sandra Fluke after Rush Limbaugh called her “sl*t.” Up until yesterday the White House had remained silent.

But just this morning the President hosted a press conference in which he cautiously and thoughtfully addressed the ongoing case.

The president said, “I think  all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen.”

But he said his main message was for Trayvon’s parents.
