Before announcing to the public that he is gay, NBA athlete Jason Collins was engaged to be married to his college sweetheart, former WNBA player Carolyn Moos. The two were together for eight years before Jason called off the wedding in 2009, leaving Carolyn heartbroken and confused as to why the relationship ended. The truth wouldn’t be revealed to her until years later — just a few days before Jason publicly announced his homosexuality in Sports Illustrated.

In this clip from his interview with Oprah for “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” Jason opens up about being engaged to Carolyn while struggling with his sexuality, explaining that he was still working through several different emotional stages that prevented him from accepting the truth about himself.

“At that point, I hadn’t reached acceptance in myself yet,” Jason tells Oprah in the clip. “Being in the closet… it really is going through the 12 steps of denial and shame and anger and all of that. I hadn’t reached acceptance yet.”

Oprah Winfrey sits down with Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda and her adopted African-American daughter Mary Williams for their first-ever interview together on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” airing Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.

Williams grew up in Oakland as a member of the Black Panther Party, as chronicled in her recently released memoir The Lost Daughter. Williams was one of six children raised by a single mother after Mary’s father was sent to prison. At age 13, Mary was invited to attend the Laurel Springs Children’s Camp run by Jane Fonda and her then-husband, Tom Hayden. There, her bond with Jane grew strong. One year later, Jane invited Mary to live with her in Santa Monica, California.

Oprah To Ask Chelsea Handler About Her ‘Thing’ For Black Men On ‘Next Chapter’

Oprah has chosen a rather interesting subject for her next “Oprah’s Next Chapter” special. After a slew of popular interviews from Lance Armstrong to Cissy Houston and Beyonce, O decided to mix things up a bit by sitting down with the controversial Chelsea Handler. Most know her as a late-night talk show host on E!, others only know of her relationship with 50 Cent, and almost anyone who has seen just 5 minutes of her show certainly knows she has a thing for black males — black male rappers to be specific.

Well, Oprah appears to be peeling the top back on her hardly subtle obsession during next week’s interview, and she’ll specifically ask about 50 Cent and let Chelsea set the record straight — whatever that means. Oprah also plans to ask Chelsea about her talk show, her new boyfriend, millionare André Balazs, who, surprisingly, happens to not be black, her difficult relationship with her father, and how getting a DUI at 21 launched her stand-up career.

Can’t say this special will be one on most of our radars but maybe Oprah will call Chelsea out on the carpet the way she does her guests. What do you think? The interview airs March 10 at 9. Will you watch?

The Wayans Got Next On ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter!’

I cannot even imagine how hilarious next Sunday’s episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” is going to be. Oprah, who has finally realized Black talent is where it’s at, is going to have the entire Wayans clan on her show in a couple Sundays. That means, Kenan, Kim, Shawn, Marlon, and even Damien, Craig, and Damon Jr. — the second generation of the funny family.

We already saw in person how hilarious Marlon is when he came into the office and was all types of inappropriate, and Oprah said she laughed so hard it hurt when she was interviewing everyone at once. The episode, which airs March 3 at 9, is expected to be hilariously candid as the crew talks about mixing family and business and we cannot wait to see it.

Watch the video below as Oprah recaps her experience during the sit down, plus check out a couple of preview shots on the next pages. Will you be watching?

“Bey Day” is soon upon us. As international superstar, Beyoncé Knowles- Carter prepares for the airing of her HBO autobiographical documentary, Beyonce: Life Is But A Dream, in addition to her exclusive Oprah’s Next Chapter interview, which will air a mere one hour prior to the premiere of her documentary, more tantalizing tidbits from the highly anticipated interview leak into the media. In the latest news bit, Bey gushes to Oprah about how much she cherishes her relationship with husband, Jay-Z, as well as what it was like returning to work after giving birth to Blue Ivy, reports Necole Bitchie. Peep a few excerpts from the interview below.

On her love for hubby, Jay-Z:

“I would not be the woman I am, if I did not go home to that man. And it just gives me such a foundation. [He has helped me] On so many levels. We were friends first, for a year and half. Before we went on any date, on the phone for a year and a half. And that foundation is so important in a relationship. And just to have someone that you just like, is so important. And someone that is honest.”

On returning to work after giving birth:

“I did a show three months after giving birth, which was crazy. I had clearly never given birth, and I didn’t know that I would gain 60 pounds—57 pounds. I feel so fortunate to do my job. I love my job. I love singing. I love the way it feels.”

On things she had to endure to get where she is today:

“My life is a journey. … I had to go through my miscarriage, I believe I had to go through owning my company and managing myself … ultimately your independence comes from knowing who you are and you being happy with yourself.”

Check out a brief clip of the interview on the next page. Will you be watching Bey on Oprah’s Next Chapter and the premiere of her documentary when they air tomorrow?

What ‘Chu Say Boo? Caption This Pic Of Oprah And Bey Having A Moment

We already know it doesn’t take much to get Oprah excited, but it’s not often that we see Beyonce with so much emotion off-stage when she’s not poppin’ and droppin’ it. That’s what makes this candid shot of the two all the more interesting as we wait in anticipation of Oprah’s Next Chapter special with King Bey this Saturday.

I have an inkling Beyonce might have shared her “aha moment” — one of Oprah’s favorite things in the whole wide world — with the media mogul, but Instagrammers have already come up with some much more hilarious explanations for what’s being said here, like, “they thought they would have a new single by now!” We’re pretty sure you all can come up with some dialogue that’s just as funny to go along with this candid, so caption this photo and tell us what’s really going on.

Will We Finally Get To See Blue Ivy? Beyoncé To Appear On ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’

If you’re a person who becomes slightly nauseated at the thought of King Bey making headlines even more than she already does, brace yourself. First, it was that amazing Super Bowl halftime show performance. Then, it was the dramatized announcement of her world tour, “The Mrs. Carter Show”. And now, according to a recent announcement on Oprah.com, Blue Ivy’s mama will be appearing on an exclusive episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter.

“Oprah goes one-on-one with Grammy-winning artist Beyoncé Knowles in her first sit-down interview since the biggest performance of the year at the big game,” the website reads.

While the announcement doesn’t give away much and leaves question marks in most of our minds, it gives enough to reel us in. The exclusive interview is set to air Saturday, February 16th at 8/7c, which is ironically the same say that her HBO documentary is set to air.

2013 is certainly looking like Bey’s year, as Vogue‘s March 2013 cover was somehow leaked and King Bey is on the cover looking as fabulous as ever. This seems pretty fitting as the March issue is also the Power 2013 issue, and we all know Mrs. Knowles-Carter has been making some major power moves lately. In the issue, Bey discusses her babygirl Blue Ivy and how much being a mom has changed her. Check out some of the interview’s highlights.

On her relationship with Blue Ivy:

“She’s my road dog. She’s my homey, my best friend. I felt very maternal around eight months.  And I thought I couldn’t become any more until I saw the baby. . . . But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain. . . . We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.
I feel like I have something that has grounded me so much more.  Family has always been important. I’ve always had my mother and my father and my husband. But it’s just. . . . Life is so much more than. . . It’s not defined by any of this.”

On her desire for another child:

“When I was younger, there were moments where I said, ‘I’m not going to have children.’ And then moments when I wanted four. And now I definitely want another, but I don’t know when.”

Wonder if we’ll get a glimpse of that fab mommy-daughter relationship Bey is talking about in her Oprah interview.
