New York was filled with PRIDE this weekend as a result of the New York Senate passing a bill that will allow same sex marriage. New York will be the sixth, and largest, state in the union to adopt gay marriage which will take effect on July 24, 2011.

Although New York is a late bloomer in allowing gay marriage, it still reigns as a huge feat considering the state’s size and its international stature. Plus it’s well-known reputation as the birthplace of the gay rights movement with the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village in 1969 makes this law even more historical.
