‘Date For Your Priority, Not For Your Preference:’ Niecy Nash Offers Dating Advice For All The Single Ladies
Happily married funny lady Niecy Nash wants to help out the single ladies, so she’s offering some great (and realistic) dating advice in her new book, It’s Hard to Fight N*ked. During a recent interview with CocoaFab, the Soul Man actress revealed that she believes that her journey and relationship success could be helpful to other women, which is what helped to inspire her book.
“I feel like love is the thing we were created for, yet it’s the place we struggle the most. And I feel like if any of my experience, my stories, my failures, my successes could help the next woman in her journey, I feel like I owe that to women, you know, and men too, because I wanted the people that I love to have rich, full relationships and as I started helping them I decided to cast a wider net, Niecy revealed.
When asked what the ideal outcome would be for women who read her book, she responded:
“My intent is for you to get the relationship you deserve!”
Niecy was also sure to stress the “you are what you attract” philosophy.
“Well, there are multiple nuggets or items that you’d call takeaways in the book. It just depends on where you are in the love journey what is going to resonate with you. If you’re right at the beginning I would tell you to be what you want to see, because inevitably you are going to attract what you are. And so if a whole bunch of crazy people keep showing up then get up and look in the mirror and say, ‘Good morning, crazy!’ Because something ain’t right. And then if you’re a little further down the road and you’re prepared to go out and date, I would encourage you to date for your priority, not for your preference. And then if you’re a little further down the road I would probably tell you some things that you can do to keep your man out of the streets and in your sheets!”

Hey There Sugar Mama! 15 Women Who Bring Home (Almost) All The Bacon
Gone are the days when a man provided all of the financial support for his wife and children. Now, studies are showing that increasing numbers of us women are actually earning more (sometimes way more) than our boyfriends and husbands. And like all shifting societal norms, Hollywood is keeping right up with the trend. So, viva la sugar mama!
Oprah
With a net worth of $2.7 billion, Oprah would be hard pressed to find a man that she wouldn’t be a sugar mama to. So why stress about it? Oprah has been happily partnered with Stedman Graham since 1986 and neither of the two seems to be complaining. Plus he’s still got his own ends — maybe not $2.7 billion worth — but he’s not hurting.
Celebrities Who’ve Tragically Lost Loved Ones
Celebrities seemingly live the good life with millions of adoring fans and millions more in the bank. When tragedy strikes their lives and they unexpectedly lose a loved one, we are reminded that stars are human after all and mourn just like us.
Rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah suffered a personal loss during the early stages in her rap career. Back in 1992, the Newark native’s world was rocked when her older brother Lancelot was killed while riding the very same motorcycle his famous baby sister recently purchased for him. 20 years after his death, Queen Latifah, still struggles with her grief and said losing her brother “was like suffering an amputation.”
So Tragic: Man Who Murdered Niecy Nash’s Brother Stabs Wife To Death
Convicted killer Robert Lee Heard is certainly making the case for life sentences. The 35-year-old Louisiana man who killed the brother of actress Niecy Nash nearly 20 years ago and was convicted of attempted murder sometime thereafter, struck again this weekend when he stabbed his wife to death. TMZ broke down the story, reporting:
Robert Lee Heard was arrested Saturday in Shreveport, LA for allegedly stabbing and killing his 35-year-old wife Demetra Doyle Heard.
In 1993 a 16-year-old Heard was convicted of shooting and killing Nash’s brother, Michael Ensley, at a Reseda, CA high school. He was committed to a juvenile corrections facility until 2002.
Then in 2003, he was convicted of attempted first-degree murder and sent to prison … but was released in 2011. That is until this weekend … when police found his wife stabbed to death.
Nash tells TMZ … “No family should have to endure the loss of a loved one at the hands of a previously convicted violent criminal.”
Nash added,”I am deeply saddened to hear that the man who murdered my brother, Michael Ensley, has been charged with murder again.”
And Nash went on … saying “I grieve for every family who has been victimized by this heinous individual. My prayers and love go out to the family of Demetra Doyle Heard during this trying time.”
What’s even more twisted about this story, is according to KLFY News, the home where the stabbing occurred is the same house where another murderer, Gerald Bellard, beat Delores Wilkes to death just 18 months prior in March 2011. The murders are unrelated but an eerie coincidence for those in the neighborhood, like Anna Belle Godfrey, who lived next to the Heards.
“It just didn’t seem likely it would come to this,” she told the news station. “They was always together, riding around, seemed happy, you know?”

R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (Cedric The Entertainer) was living the high life in Las Vegas at the top of the music charts when he got “the calling” and decided to relocate to St. Louis with his family to become a preacher in his father’s church. Niecy Nash: My Kids Cut Up ‘Whether Cameras are There or Not’
From EurWeb.com
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to the children of Niecy Nash.
Viewers get a huge weekly dose of her three children Dominic, Donielle, and Dia on TLC’s “Leave it to Niecy,” and it became quite apparent early in the season that funny runs in the family.
“Let me tell you something. I’m a funny girl, and I gave birth to what? Funny. I can’t help it,” says Nash. “It just is what it is, and my kids have been around my antics so long, it kind of rubs off a little bit. So when it comes to what you see, you only see what is really manifesting in our lives at the time.”
The reality series – which airs Sundays at 10 on TLC and reruns on OWN – so far has Niecy’s kids offering their dry wit on such activities as going unplugged for a weekend, eating healthy meals and participating in their mother’s new Christmas traditions.
“My house is full of antics, mayhem, foolishness, carrying on, cutting up, shucking and jiving, and I have that whether cameras are there or not,” says Nash. “Our youngest just had us up with her shenanigans and hijinks all night. So, it’s all the time, even off camera.”

Last year, TLC followed Niecy Nash down the aisle in a two-hour wedding ceremony special that aired in June, now the network is back to see how the comedienne/actress and her new hubby Jay Tucker are adjusting to life as newlyweds with a blended family in a new series called “Leave It to Niecy.”
The show will take viewers right inside Niecy’s home to see how she balances her Hollywood schedule, her teenage daughters, and her opinionated mother—we know how that goes. Jay, on the other hand, who’s an electrical engineer, will be adjusting to living in a household of mostly women, besides his son, Jay, and parenting girls for the first time.
From the preview, this looks like it could be a great wholesome show. Plus, Niecy is crazy so there are bound to be tons of laughs. Check out the sneak peak for the series which debuts March 25 at 10p on TLC.

Niecy Nash & Cedric the Entertainer to Star in TV Land Pilot
Well how great is this!? Two very funny, very hardworking black actors could be getting their own show, together, on TV Land. Yes, on TV Land, not TBS nor BET, thank you very much.
The former star of Reno 911 and former host of The Clean House will play the wife to funnyman Cedric the Entertainer’s Reverend Boyce for the upcoming pilot or the as yet to be titled show. The pilot is said to be a spinoff of the popular show, Hot in Cleveland, which stars Betty White. According to Deadline, Reverend Boyce will make the move back home to St. Louis to work and will deal with the expectations of his congregation vs. his very wild and hilarious past which keeps trying to pop up. Production is to start at the beginning of December. If the pilot is well received, the two could have the show picked up by TV Land and more episode could be ordered for your viewing pleasure! The script of the pilot has been written by Cedric the Entertainer and Hot in Cleveland creator Suzanne Martin.
Sounds good to me! Reminds me of the show Amen from the early ’90s (LOVED THAT!). If you’re not a big fan of Niecy Nash, you should become one, because homegirl is funny! I’ve been a fan since her crazy Reno 911 days and I can attest to that. And we all know that Cedric is too funny for his own good, so if this pilot gets picked up, you know what you will need to do: support with your views!
