Every bride should have her day exactly as she wants it. But some should take a few classes in etiquette before dreaming up the big day, or at least leave things up to a trusted event planner. These couples either shocked, offended or just disappointed when they said their “I do’s.”

Throwback Photo of The Day: Nicole Richie Gets “Toddlers & Tiaras” Fresh With Brenda Harvey Richie

I don’t know what’s in the water, but it seems that this is the week for celebrities to post pictures of themselves as tiny tots. Yesterday was Tia and Tamera Mowry, today it’s Nicole Richie and her mother, Brenda Harvey Richie. In case you weren’t aware, Brenda (I can only think of “The Boondocks” when I think of her…) and Lionel Richie provided a home for Nicole when her parents (her father is actually Sheila E’s brother) came into hard financial times. They later adopted her and dressed her up in all kinds of interesting ensembles (see the blue “Toddlers & Tiaras”-esque dress below, circa 1985. Her words: “is it too late to audition for Toddlers & Tiaras? NR 1985!“). Nicole and Brenda decided to post a few pics from Nicole’s childhood recently, and it’s clear that someone was fashion savvy early on.

Nicole Richie has been dubbed the queen of “boho chic” and has found a way to transform her effortless yet sophisticated sense of style into a lucrative fashion business. The adopted daughter of legendary singer Lionel Richie, who has a net worth of about $4 million, has appeared in ads for Bongo jeans and Jimmy Choo, which no doubt fueled her interest in the business of fashion even further. Richie’s first fashion accessories line, House of Harlow 1960, named for her daughter, is a nod to the vibrant colors and geometric jewelry and shoes that were a vital part of 60s style. The line was launched in 2009, along with Nicole Richie’s Winter Kate collection (also named after her daughter), which features the over-sized blouses, maxi skirts and dress shorts that are staples in bohemian wardrobes. Richie also created a line of maternity clothing for Pea in the Pod, and modeled the clothing during her own pregnancies.

In February of this year, the fashion mogul introduced the Nicole Richie Collection for QVC; the prices for clothing begin at about $75, making the outfits more affordable to the general public. According to Richie, she wanted this line to give women something fabulous to wear at a moment’s notice, at a budget-friendly price. With the power of QVC behind the line, the Nicole Richie Collection has a great chance for success–much like the designer’s other ventures.

Looking to update your wardrobe this fall? These beautiful pieces from Nicole Richie’s accessory and clothing lines will help you pull off the easy-going, refined style you’re going for.

Bonjou! 8 Famous Folks You Might Not Have Known Were Creole

Let me be clear in saying, I’m talking Louisiana Creole descent. Sorry if you clicked and were looking for one of the many other kinds. But where was I?

Frenchcreole.com identifies Creole people as a broad cultural group of people of all races who share a French or Spanish background. No matter how you come to the conclusion that one is Creole (and please, let’s not get into the colorstruck aspects of it all), there are many people who identify as such, and they speak a wide variety of languages. In our random travels through the Internet (or da Intanetz as we like to call it), we were surprised to find a number of celebrities who are of the Louisiana Creole heritage. If you’re nosey like us, you probably want to know who. Check it out.

Sheila E.

Sheila Escovedo is hands down one of the coolest people to ever pick up a set of drumsticks and go to town on the drums, and if you didn’t know, she’s also of Mexican and Louisiana Creole heritage. Her father, famous drummer Pete Escovedo, is Mexican-American, while her mother, Juanita Escovedo (formerly Gardere), is French and black. I’ve been a fan since homegirl showed up in Krush Groove and dropped The Glamorous Life, but I can say that I didn’t know she was Creole…

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Nicole Richie Making “Fashion Star” Rounds In Colorful Ensembles

If you need to know anything about Nicole Richie, aside from the fact that Lionel Richie is her father, it’s that the girl can dress. Maybe that’s why she was picked to be part of the new NBC show, Fashion Star, which debuted last night. While making the media rounds to promote the show, Richie threw on some bright colors and gave us some fierce-ness all over NYC and L.A. Check out her outfits and tell us if the girl’s looks are steal-worthy, or if she should stop.

While hitting up the show “Extra” with host Mario Lopez on March 9 in L.A., Richie wore this short gold dress with a caftan-like neckline, an embroidered belt, and and some fierce, open-toe, snakeskin heels. The dress was cute and scandalous at the same time thanks to it being above-the-knee. Love the red lip, but the choppy hair? Not so much…Good work with the bangs though! Not too crazy about the look, but I wouldn’t be so quick to say stop…

"Nicole Richie Promoting 'Fashion Star'"

Nicole Richie, designer and reality show veteran, will mentor 14 undiscovered designers alongside Jessica Simpson and John Varvatos in the upcoming NBC reality fashion competition, Fashion Star hosted by Elle Macpherson. Each week, the contestants create looks based on a theme and buyers for major retail stores - Caprice Willard, (Macy’s), Nicole Christie (H&M) and Terron E. Schaefer (Saks Fifth Avenue) – judge the best outfits.

The winning looks are available to purchase in store and online the very next day. The designers that fail to impress the buyers are up for elimination. The ultimate winner of the competition is set to receive a multi-million dollar prize to launch their collections in Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

As told to WWD, Nicole says “I am looking forward to having women and men across America not only getting to know these incredibly talented designers but also getting to buy their designs, it’s something that has never been done before.”

Can’t wait until the March 13th premiere of Fashion Star to see more Nicole?
