Everyone knows Hollywood has a narrow definition of what makes someone a star, that’s why most entertainers end up selling some part of their soul — or at least stepping up their physical appearance — to make it big in Tinseltown. Here’s a look at some of the biggest celebs who changed to get put on.
Kerry Washington has played in tons of movies before her hit role in “Scandal.” However, if it wasn’t for her stepping up her fashion game she may not be as big as she is right now. She recently told Glamour magazine:
“There were a couple of actresses whom I felt were having the upper hand career wise-because they knew how to work that red carpet. I was like, ‘I’m missing a really important tool. So I sort of developed a new character: Red-Carpet Kerry. And I researched her like any other character.”
Famous people do everything bigger and celebrity engagement rings are no exception! Beyonce said “Put a ring on it” and the fellas lined up, with their wallets of course. Engagements are a symbol of love and commitment, but they can be costly, ranging from $70,000 to $5 million if you’re a celebrity. Check out 15 celebs who literally have million dollar homes on their ring fingers.
Future knew what he was doing when he chose a beautiful 15-carat emerald cut diamond ring by Avianne & Co for Ciara. Yes, she had the birthday celebration that many girls dream of. Her man got on one knee in front of everyone to pop the question with a three-stone cut ring made of flawless diamonds with a price tag of $1 million to 1.5 million.
We all knew that Big Sean and Glee star Naya Rivera were madly in love, but we certainly did not suspect that marriage was just around the corner. But apparently, the Detroit rapper realized that he found his good thing and didn’t want to risk letting it get away— so he put a ring on it! The 26-year-old actress’s reps have reportedly confirmed to Just Jared that the love birds are definitely engaged.
If you recall, the couple began their six-month relationship after connecting on Twitter.
“I had followed him and he sent me a little message like, ‘I’m a fan.’ I tweeted that I followed him, I was trying to get his attention,” Naya told Access Hollywood.
“We went to dinner and the rest is history.”
Though we may not have seen the proposal coming, it appears that Naya did. Back in September when asked if she saw marriage and babies in she and Sean’s future, she responded:
Sean has also been pretty vocal about his love for Naya.
“Me and Naya is a great thing. She’s awesome. She takes care of me, man. Let me tell you a story about her. Let me tell you a story about Naya Rivera, aight? My grandma used to make me birthday cakes every year, on my birthday, once a year. My favorite pound cake, grandma’s recipe. She had a stroke 10 years ago and couldn’t make it anymore, right? Naya hit my mom up and got the recipe. Couple parts of the recipe were missing, she filled them in, made this cake from scratch for me. And she surprised me with it one day, man.”
Congrats to the lovely couple!

I don’t know what it is about famous couples today, but they sure like to try and prove to the world that they’re in love with over-the-top and uber-sexual photoshoots. The-Dream and Christina Milian did it (that’s dunzo), Evelyn Lozado and Chad Johnson did it (we know how that ended), and the list goes on and on. But despite all that evidence which would tell any star in their right mind to keep their relationship under wraps, rapper Big Sean and Naya Rivera decided to lose their shirts and their inhibitions for a photoshoot with Terry Richardson. Yes, the same photographer who was able to get Miley Cyrus to flip upside down and twerk that thing for the camera. With Naya in her cut-off top showing major boob and Big Sean sans shirt showing off his juicy pectorals (kidding!), the two definitely let it all hang out. Literally.
Check out more images of the two trying to get you (and his ex Ashley I presume) to take their relationship seriously on the next page…
We’ve all come across some ridiculous commercials that make us laugh, stop and watch, or want to throw the TV out the window. The worst part? We can’t seem to get their annoying taglines or jingles out of our heads. And as much as we hate to admit it, it’s good marketing. Check out some TV’s most annoyingly memorable commercials over the past couple of years.
Despite dropping a cosgining verse on girlfriend Naya Rivera’s diss track aimed towards his exes, Big Sean maintains his love and respect for his ex-girlfriend Ashley. During a recent interview with Necole Bitchie, the 25-year-old rapper discussed parting ways with his longtime sweetheart and finding love in Naya.
On catching heat over his break-up with Ashley:
“A lot of people criticized me or whatever. I’ve known her since I was 16 years old. A lot of the people criticizing me, I wanna ask, ‘Are y’all motherf***ers still with the same person that you was with when you was 15 or 16 years old?’ Me and her grew up. We didn’t always live in the same place and things got hard.”
“She graduated school and didn’t really like LA and she wanted to move to New York. And I’m like, ‘No man, you should be with me.’ Then it was just like, ‘Well, we can make it work long distance.’ For me, it was a little too hard. I feel like that’s just one of the reasons why it didn’t work. I don’t have anything but love for her.
On how he feels about Ashley:
“No matter what, I got love for her and I’m pretty sure she has love for me. That’s always going to be there and that’s why I made sure I kept that song on this album after I did it and after we broke up. She deserves a beautiful song for her because without her, I wouldn’t be where I am period. She deserves 10 songs like that honestly.”
On his track titled, “Ashley:”
“It’s not just a tribute to her. I’m just telling the different stories we had and people will be able to relate to it in their own love lives. Everybody has their… you know, for me, it’s Ashley. “
On messing up during their relationship:
“I messed up a lot. We would just go through things that young people do. I made mistakes, she made mistakes. At least I’m man enough to admit it.”

A few days ago we told you about Glee star Naya Rivera’s struggle track, “Sorry,” in which she makes a feeble attempt to call out her rapper boyfriend Big Sean’s ex-girlfriends, letting them know that she’s the new woman in his life. In case you blinked and missed it, a portion of the song’s lyrics read:
“I don’t really know much about ya. But it’s clear you know my name. So I guess all I can tell ya is that I don’t have much to say. If you used to be the one well I don’t know s**t about it (I don’t know s**t about it). But I know you mad about it. He loves the way I put it down. Starstruck on what he found. You wishin’ that it played out different. Yeah I know it sucks girl. I’m so… Sorry, I’m not sorry.”
As if that weren’t messy enough, homegirl went on to call the exes out by name.
“Amber, Brytni, Tiffany, Sorry he belongs to me /Heather, Ashley, Stephanie it just wasn’t meant to be, Sorry!”
It can certainly be assumed that the seemingly unnecessary track didn’t sit well with the ladies being called out, but only one has publicly responded so far. Sean’s ex, Brytni Sarpy, a model and actress hailing from Southern California, recently took to her Twitter page to respond to the song.
Do you think Brytni should have even taken the time out to respond to Naya?
See what happens when you give someone some shine in a “different” world?
Naya Rivera is a pretty woman, a working actor on Glee and rapper Big Sean’s new girlfriend. They actually make a really cute couple and people are here for their adorable relationship.
And now, Naya seems to be feeling herself.
The track recently debuted on Power 106 in Los Angeles and right from the first verse, Naya is going in about who she is to her man and who the ex can no longer be:
I don’t really know much about ya
But it’s clear you know my name
So I guess all I can tell ya
Is that I don’t have much to say
If you used to be the one
Well I don’t know s**t about it (I don’t know s**t about it)
But I know you mad about it
He loves the way I put it down
Starstruck on what he found
You wishin’ that it played out different
Yeah I know it sucks girl
Sorry, I’m not sorry
Her boo, Sean, makes an appearance on the song dropping a pretty decent verse for what is supposed to be a pop song. As the song, begins to fade, Naya starts naming the women Sean has dated or slept with, including Ashley who was his longtime girlfriend and Brytni who, according to our girl Necole Bitchie, was a woman he apparently dated this year. She did not take too kindly to the song an responded with some tweets of her own.
Oh Naya, let’s keep it cute boo. The song sounds like something straight from the 90s and not necessarily in a good way so to add insult to injury by calling people out is just unnecessary.
Listen for yourself…pass or play (yes, it is a radio rip)?
K. Foxx and Serena Williams
Some were surprised by news of rapper Big Sean and actress Naya Rivera’s coupledom, especially since just one year ago the G.O.O.D. Music artist revealed that although he split from his longtime girlfriend Ashley, they were “still in each other’s lives” and “probably will get back together” because they’re “just figuring it out.” While Sean and Ashley’s reunion may not be happening anytime soon, the rapper still appears to have his ex on the brain as he continues to put out music inspired by their relationship. But what does his new lady think of all of this? Well, according to Sean, she isn’t fazed by it. Check out a few hightlights from his interview with Philly 107.9 below.
On meeting his girlfriend Naya Rivera:
“Someone told me that she thought I was cute, and I thought she was fine and [so] I was like lets make this happen. The first thing that happened was she followed me on twitter and I followed her back and I was like ‘Whats up?’ and she was like ‘Whats up?”
“I like everything about her. I like her family. […] She’s into hip hop. She likes rap, she likes all sorts of music. She be knowing rap.”
On whether or not being faithful is a challenge:
“It hasn’t been hard at all. I was talking to her [the other day] and I was like, ‘ Do you trust me?’ and she was like ‘Yeah, I trust you. I know you ain’t stupid.’ She’s cool though. Away from all of that other stuff too and when you vibe with someone as a person and they relieve stress from you and it’s fun to be around them, that’s the kind of person you need to be around.”
On putting out music about his ex:
“My old girlfriend, I met her when I was 15 and I started dating her when I was 18. […] So you know when you’re young and you go through [things] and you start growing up, you learn a few things.”
“The song about Ashley with Miguel on it, is strictly about her. [Beware] is kinda like I got some inspiration from a couple situations and just made a story with it.”
On if he’s still in love with Ashley:
“No, but I still love her though. I got love for her deeply. She’s my homie.”
On how Naya feels about him writing songs inspired by Ashley:
“My new girlfriend thinks it’s dope. She does her own thing. she’s professional, she writes music and she’s on that show Glee, so she understands. She’s got songs about her old relationship.”
