As I was reading through the comments on last week’s post, “Real Men Like Real Hair – Why Weaves Don’t Work,” I noticed an old conversation come back up. A brother who goes by the screen name MrHealingHands chimed in his thoughts on women who don’t upkeep their weaves. No biggie, because in essence I wrote the same thing in my post.

I’ve spent a good majority of my adult life trying not to have a baby mama. Not because I don’t want children, I just don’t want children with a woman that’s not my wife. See, when you do the wife and kids thing, that’s generally something planned and thought out. Even if it’s not, you’re married so having kids isn’t really that big of a deal because it’s expected at some point.

Blame Yourselves for Being Single!

With all due respect, I feel sorry for Black women. It seems like every time I turn around there’s some new article or TV special about how most successful sisters are destined to be alone. There are all these statistics about how many brothers are currently incarcerated, uneducated or unemployed, leaving slim picking for the average Black woman, who’s holding out for Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome.
