Cicely: Hi, Damon. What do you hear as the biggest relationship complaint from professional black women and what do you say in response?

DY: The biggest compliant seems to be that there aren’t enough available men. And, while I think people tend to be hyperbolic when discussing that — saying Isht like there’s 37 women for every male black midget or something — it is a real issue.
My response is that a self-defeatist attitude won’t get them anywhere. I mean, the numbers probably weren’t in her favor when getting into college or getting a job, but she didn’t let them deter her then. Why should dating/relationships/marriage be any different?
