In 2013, Meagan Good was tackling one of the biggest roles of her career, starring in the NBC drama, Deception alongside Laz Alonso and veteran actor Victor Garber. But after one season of Good’s character trying to solve the murder of her best friend, the show was cancelled four months after it premiered. The ratings weren’t there and neither was the following, so it was back to focusing on the sequel to Think Like A Man for Good, taking on a co-starring role in the Anchorman sequel, and doling out relationship advice with her husband, DeVon Franklin. But Good is getting another chance to star in her own show for NBC, and this time she’s delving into the science fiction realm.
According to Shadow and Act, NBC has given the green-light to the sci-fi drama pilot called Babylon Fields about a town in New York where the dead are coming back to life, and coming back stronger than the living. Good will play Dr. Janine Beltran, and she will seek to find out if the town’s former residents who are coming back to life are what’s next in human evolution, (and try to figure out how to deal with such a creepy return). For me, this premise isn’t blowing my mind, but on paper, neither did The Walking Dead, and now it’s one of my favorites, so this could be a good one too. Either way, I’m glad to see Good getting new opportunities out here.
Do you think you’ll check out the show if it’s officially picked up by NBC? Or do you think the idea has already been done?
The last few sightings we’ve had of Meagan Good, the 32-year-old was surprisingly covered up. But if you thought that meant the actress had a change of heart about her consistently revealing apparel, think again. On the latest episode of Wendy Williams, Meagan Good defends her love for all things low cut and makes no apologies for her revealing red carpet dresses. She told Wendy:
“Unfortunately a lot of the backlash has come from the christian community and there’s no me and them; there’s only us. We’re all apart of the same community and at the end of the day, for me, I grew up in this business as a little girl, I’ve been walking the red carpet since I was 13, so what I may view as appropriate or OK, someone else may feel differently and I think that’s OK. We’re all different.”
I’m pretty sure I can almost already guess the response from the Christian community which would be, yes, we’re all different, but we’re all worshiping the same God who lays out the same guidelines for all of us. But as Meagan already told us before, until God convicts her — not the flock — she won’t be changing anything about the way she dresses.
Check out more of Meagan’s interview in the video clip below as she talks about her new role in “Anchorman 2″ and whether babies are on the way for her and hubby Devon Franklin. What do you think?
Not every woman is interested in dropping her last name after marriage or even taking their husband’s name at all and quite a few leading ladies had no problem keeping their maiden name entirely. There was no hyphenation or dropping of anything, because the name they were born with was perfectly fine. Unlike these women who kept their husband’s last name after divorce, these women didn’t bother making the change to begin with.
The diva of all divas, Diana Ross, has been married twice and kept her last name during both marriages. She married music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein in 1971, which led to divorce in 1977. She remarried billionaire shipping magnate Arne Naess, Jr. in 1986 and divorced in 2000. The last name Ross rings bells across the world so it makes perfect sense that she hasn’t changed it.
How She Nabbed The Role In The Anchorman Sequel:
“It was the strangest thing, because I was in New York and I was filming Deception. I heard that they were officially going into making Anchorman 2. I got the script and the sides and just said to myself, “OK, I’ll just send in my audition tape and see what happens.” I got a call about a week later; they were like, “Do you think you can come to New York to do a chemistry read with Will?” And I was like, “Do you mean will I walk on foot right now from Atlanta? Because if so, then yes.” [Laughs.]I got in, did the chemistry read, it went amazing. Will was very sweet and supportive; I kind of beat him up in the audition, and threw him around the room a little, and he let me. About a week later, they called me and say, “Hey, you got the part!” And I just was blown away, and so appreciative. I started thanking God immediately. I know there were a lot of people up for it, and I know it was all God. I just feel like…I was just excited. I was over the moon.”
On Her Character, Linda Jackson:
“Linda Jackson is Ron Burgundy’s boss. She is one of the first black women to be the head of a news station like that, and a network like that. It’s very interesting, because this takes place at the end of ‘70s and the beginning of the ‘80s, so he’s never seen anything like that. Initially, I just think he’s an idiot; I don’t care for him, they’re at odds with each other. During the duration of the film, she realizes that she’s finally met her equal in this crazy, silly guy. That is kind of the turning point where she starts to go, “This is the one who will stand up to me, and will tell me what he thinks, and will do all the intimidating things I tell him to do—maybe there’s something there.”
On Trying To Branch Out From The Sex Kitten Roles:
“When I got into my 20s, I was fighting for people to see that the little girl from Friday and Eve’s Bayou wasn’t a little girl anymore. That’s why my career took the “sexy” turn. By my mid-20s, it had backfired. I was always playing the sexy roles. It was hard for me to be taken seriously as a good actress. I had to fight my way out of that box that people put me in.”
Why She Is Happiest Now Compared To In Her 20s:
“I’m just now getting into my 30s, and this is the best I’ve ever felt inside and the best I’ve ever looked. I’m so ready. It’s like reliving your 20s but so much better, with a stronger sense of who you are and who you’re not. Because of that, I’ve never felt sexier. It’s a whole new kind of “sexy” turn for me.”I was a big fan of Anchorman, so I definitely plan on checking out the sequel and supporting Good. But as for how she can be taken more seriously as an actress…well, I’ll be nice and let you give her that advice. Check out more images from the shoot on the next page and share your thoughts below.
“My relationship with God is tight. I don’t think God is concerned with those kind of things. If he ever was to say, ‘Don’t dress like that,’ then I wouldn’t do it. But I don’t feel that in my spirit, so I don’t feel convicted about it.”So when she stepped out last night for the GQ Men of the Year party with her sister La’Myia, she confidently wore a revealing black dress. As you can see, it was another low-cut one, but this time around, her chest was on display because the top of it was also sheer. There are photos where it looks like she put on pasties, but in the images from Getty at the event, it’s hard to tell if she is because her ni**les were protruding a great deal. And you know people had a lot to say about the look:
And this is meant to be a reflection of the church… A pastors wife should not dress so revealing, what pastor even want his wife to be a sexual fantasy of so many men all over the world. People is taking this come as you are quote from the bible and making it their own. That quote actually means to come with all your sins, big or small, poor or rich, weak or strong and God will help show you the way. Not come dressed as a sl@t, leaving little to imagination. “The never ending need for attention and look at me attitude of some celebrities is pathetic…I’m disappointed in her husband for choosing to marry a woman who is completely opposite of what his faith and belief system should be, unless he’s trying to catch a part on Preachers Of LA. wow, is that the preacher’s wife… with all her titis out like that? good for us.I love her but she can still be s*xy and a preacher’s wife without alla dat. C’mon now Megandag. its like shes having hollyweird withdrawal and is doing whatever she can to get some attention when she does get in the mix. that dress is totally inappropriate for the lifestyle SHE purports to have.I wonder why Meagan feels the need to show off her nips in an effort to look good/s*xy or whatever. I just don’t get it. She must know that this ‘look’ just looks sl*tty or attention seeking. She says one thing & does another.
Hollywood “it” couple, Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin, are not the least bit shy when it comes to discussing their decision to practice patience in dating and wait for marriage. The happily married couple are now seeking to encourage others to embrace “the wait” in a new book that they are co-writing.
“It’s that waiting period where we really get the most anxiety and the most frustration, so we’re gonna be writing a book that will address that, and we believe it will be very helpful,” DeVon told Sister 2 Sister.
Though the book, which has been titled The Wait, will address waiting for true love, DeVon says that it will also address other crucial waiting periods in life.
“It’ll be called ‘The Wait.’ And it’s all about how you handle the waiting period in life… from the relationship wait to the marriage wait to the career wait.”
The Wait is set to hit bookshelves in 2014. We’re sure the book will offer tons of spiritual advice, since waiting on God seems to be the common message offered by the newlyweds.
“Keep God first. Make sure that the person you hook up with is someone that you feel in your spirit is right for you,” Meagan told HipHollywood over the summer. “Sometimes you think that you want somebody and then you find out that’s not what you really want and you’re stuck and you just gotta get out. So yes, seek God’s face on who you’re with.”
“Don’t do it for any other reason than love,” DeVon chimed in.
“Yes, because you are stuck with them… forever,” Meagan added.
So, will you be grabbing a copy of The Wait when it goes on sale next year?

Though summer just ended, you have a reason to look forward to next summer. And it’s not just because of the warm weather and the opportunity to walk the streets half-dressed. You should get excited because Halle Berry is coming to CBS to star in the new drama Extant.
Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios will produce the 13-episode drama. Berry will star as an astronaut who comes home after a year by herself in space, and upon her return, she tries to bond with her husband and son again, but what she goes through in space and at home will for some reason lead to some “history-changing events.”
Yeah, I don’t really get the plot that much either, but I’m sure it will all make sense when the show premieres next summer. Berry issued a statement about her excitement to do the show, saying the following:
“I’m always on the lookout for amazing roles, and when you see material that contains this strong of auspices, nuance and complexity, it compels me to run toward it no matter the medium. For five months a year I’ll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder of the year I’ll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one.”
Steven Spielberg also shared his thoughts on the show’s development and having Berry in the starring role:
“There’s only one Halle Berry, and we are incredibly honored that she has chosen Extant to expand her illustrious career. As she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.”
This is really big news, as another black woman will be leading a cast on network television. Hopefully Berry will have more success than Meagan Good did with Deception on NBC (that wasn’t a bad show!) and that her fan base will tune in. We sure will! This has definitely been a good year for Halle, from her pregnancy, to her marriage, getting her anti-paparazzi bill made into a law, and now news of a new TV opportunity. Congrats, lady!
Meagan Good Says Church Folk Expect Her To Walk Around In Turtlenecks Because She’s A Minister’s Wife
32-year-old actress Meagan Good’s clothing selections has been a hot topic of conversation ever since she showed up to this year’s BET Awards show rocking a rather revealing gown with a navel-plunging neckline. While the alluring ensemble probably wouldn’t have been such a big deal if it were worn by another celebrity, the newly married Think Like A Man actress caught a lot of heat from the Christian community. During a recent interview with VLAD TV, Meagan expressed that she believes people have unrealistic expectations about the kind of clothing she should wear as a minister’s wife.
“Some people feel like I should wear a turtleneck or something but that’s not who I am. If that’s not what God tells me to do then I’m not going to do that to make other people comfortable.”
She went on to say that she is the voice of young women who are often “misjudged” because of their attire.
“I’m comfortable with me, I love me. And I feel like I speak to girls and women that are like me…That are often misjudged and often looked down or talked about because people don’t get their heart or their spirit based off something as small as what they might choose to wear that day.”
“…I try to be love and light to them, I try to do what I can to build God’s kingdom and reach people that I immediately connect with because we are similar,” she continued.
Meagan also revealed that she was shocked by people’s reactions to her 2013 BET Awards dress and that they compared it to the infamous Versace dress worn by J.Lo to the Grammys in 2000.
“I was shocked that people cared so much. I guess it’s because I’m married to a minister.”
“I see it. I get it. I definitely didn’t think that when I got it because hers was super plunging like right down to the… Ummm, I thought she looked beautiful. I get the comparison, I just don’t think it was quite as extreme.”

Following the tragic death of “Rizzoli & Isles” star Lee Thompson Young, the question of child stardom and its effects has once again surfaced. Except this time, the conversation has taken somewhat of a different turn, considering the fact that Young, who rose to stardom in the ‘90s on the Disney Channel’s “The Famous Jett Jackson,” seemed unlike many of the more destructive child stars of today. After the show ended, Young continued acting on television and in movies and even graduated from the University of Southern California with Honors. He also wrote his first screenplay in 2007.
Young’s tale reminds us of the hard truth that we may never know the depths of these former child stars’ innermost struggles, but there are many who have successfully avoided or overcome those battles to become successfyl adults in the industry, Like Lee Thompson Young, these child stars’ professional lives have been clean, drama-free, and accurate representations of their multitudinous talents. Check out which stars made the list.
