Deion Sanders Serves Wife Pilar with Divorce Papers
Yet another union chronicled on reality television has gone by the wayside. Former football and baseball superstar Deion Sanders has filed for divorce from his model/actress wife Pilar Sanders. You might recall that the couple had a reality show a couple years back on the Oxygen network. Pilar was also a castmember on Football Wives, Shaunie O’Neal’s gridiron version of her popular Basketball Wives series.
In a Hello Beautiful exclusive, Pilar said she was shocked by the whole thing:
It’s unfortunate that my husband decided to take this course of action…I’m surprised and hurt… As I said to my children, we must take a minute breath and Trust God.
Head over to Hello Beautiful to see what Pilar has been up to lately on the business front outside of reality television. Since she’ll be a single mom soon, she has to keep that income flowing in (beyond child support) and set a good example for her children in terms of being a confident, independent woman.
Are you surprised by this split?

Spike Lee and Soledad O’Brien Speak on Diversity and Adversity
This year’s AdColor Awards were held at the swanky Beverly Hilton out on the left coast and Madame Noire’s very own Victoria Audele was there to capture it all. AdColor is an organization devoted to honoring and uplifting people of color who work in advertising, marketing and media. George Lopez and Spike Lee were among this year’s honorees and a few other familiar faces graced the red carpet such as Soledad O’Brien, our friend in our heads.
Check out what Spike had to say about diversity in America and Soledad’s thoughts on how adversity builds character.
Basketball Wives LA: Jackie Christie on her Marriage, her Style & Reality Show Drama
One of the things that makes Basketball Wives LA a little different than the Miami version is that there are more actual NBA wives on the show and Jackie Christie is one of them. She and her husband Doug Christie have been married for 16 years and she sees herself as a mentor of sorts to the other ladies on the show…well, maybe not to Tanya (“Who the BLEEP are you?”), but she does have some interesting life experiences to share and she sat down with Madame Noire to do just that.
Find out who she says are her real friends on the show, which Miami cast members she like and how she deals with groupies. Jackie keeps it 100, so you know…
“Don’t Ask Me That!” Questions Your Child Might Ask at the Exact Wrong Moment
Our children know us better than we know ourselves. Unless we are psychotic or capricious, they know what makes us mad, happy, satisfied and downright disgusted. They also know how to push our buttons, and have memories like elephants for stuff we would rather they’d forget. Ironically, they can’t seem to remember to take out the trash, change their underwear, bring all their books to school, so they call you in the middle of the day to just drop everything and deliver them.
Years back, I remember asking my mother a very inappropriate question, “Did you and Daddy have sex before you got married?” She paused and said something that burned a hole in my memory: “I needed to try what I was buying.” With that mental picture emblazoned in my mind like a thousand not-so-splendid suns, in retrospect, I wish I’d never asked.
Now with four kids of my own, I know my daughter might feel, at some point, comfortable enough to ask the same question. Saying I was a virgin won’t fly; she was born before I met my husband. It won’t work on the others, either.
Since I’ll be faced with the same dilemmas, I’ve prepared a quick-and-dirty list of possible questions and good answers to shut things down before they know too much.
Your To-Do List By 30
Sometimes when I think of a to-do-list I immediately get bogged down in having to have tangible items that I’m locked into. And while that may work for some, it doesn’t necessarily work for me. When I was 25, I was a law student at Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. As far as my to-do list, I was going to be an attorney by age 27, work for a few years but ultimately I wanted to start my own non-profit and also a media company. I’m 28, I have 1 year of law school under my belt – not going back anytime soon and that’s that. But what about those other dreams, my other passions; did I have the mindset to achieve them?
For this list I want to tap into our passions and mindset more than a specific, tangible item. I’m not saying you don’t need measurable goals, you can think all day but with no action you’ll be 35 and still no closer to your dreams. We probably need a bit of both lists to get to that greater good that will truly make us happy but let’s get started with transforming our minds.
The Big Relationship Question: Where Is This Going?
So you have a new boo. Break out the champagne and call all your girls! Finally you’ve met someone you like, and more importantly, who seems to reciprocate the feeling. Unlike some of your last ‘situations’, you want to ensure that you’re not wasting time hoping for something to manifest out of nothing. Basically, you don’t want to wait around for a man who is either not interested in a commitment or not interested in you.
You don’t want to get serious about someone who isn’t serious about you, or worse, serious about someone else. Many times the signs are there, they just may be hidden behind the strong desire of wanting to be in a relationship or the serious energy put into trying to make Mr. Right out of someone who is Mr. All Wrong.
While every relationship is different, most are made up of similar components. There are no guidelines etched in stone when it comes to relationships, but there are things to consider when deciding if someone is in to for the long-haul.
There are things we should know and have experienced within the first month, three months, and couple of years. Consider the things listed in these phases if you’re asking yourself, ‘Where is this going?’
Of course these phases aren’t for the ‘friends with benefits’ or the ‘occasional flingers’.
Is This What Little Bey/Jay Would Look Like?
Jay-Z took his preggers wife on babymoon/b-day trip to Venice and the pair then headed over to Croatia to hang out on a yacht and live the good life. Beyoncé showed off her baby bump in a white kini. Too cute.
Wondering what the future (current?) superstar might look like? Forensic portrait artist Dr. D’Lynn Waldron has an idea. Check out the pic below of how he thinks a mini Bey might look. The big sparkly earrings?? Comedy.
Head over to the homie Necole Bitchie to see what a little boy Jigga might look like and more pics of Bey in her bikini.
A Passionate Love Affair…In Your Head
You have a man and you love him. He’s good to you and you can’t imagine life without him right now. But of course you are only human and you still have eyes, so you most certainly notice that man on the train who knows how to hang a suit and gosh darn it if the waiter at your favorite lunch spot doesn’t have the sexiest smile you’ve ever seen. Alas, you’re a faithful woman though. You’d never cheat…in real life.
A lot of us have a “friend in our heads” like First Lady Michelle Obama or Oprah, but do you have a “boyfriend in your head” too? Do you have intricate and elaborate sexual and/or relationship fantasies about a man in your life who is not your husband or boyfriend? Do tell and check out this piece from Salon about a woman’s steamy in-her-head-only love affair with the father of her son’s friend.
Is it okay to “go all the way” if it’s just in your head? When would such a situation become a problem?

TI Released from Prison, Lands a Book Deal & a Reality Show
Yesterday, TI walked out the Arkansas prison he’s been residing in for the past 11 months. The self-proclaimed King of the South was popped by one-time last year not too long after he got married to long-time girlfriend Tiny and also not too long after he got out prison from his previous arrest.
This young husband and father is not out of the woods yet though, he still has to reside at a halfway house until the end of the month. But unless something crazy happens (you never know with this guy), he’s basically a free man….well at least he won’t be in a prison cell. TI is already jumping right into new business ventures. He has a novel coming out this fall called Power and Beauty that’s about two ATL friends who become intertwined in the drug game. TI also has yet another reality show coming out too called King of the South that will debut this December.
Head over to Necole Bitchie for more deets on TI’s release and his new show. Do you think TI will stay out of jail from now on?
