No, you’re not crazy. You have seen this fine specimen before, because Will Demps has been making waves on and off the football field for years now. From being the ultimate eye candy as LeToya Luckett’s love interest in “Torn,” to making big moves as a former Baltimore Raven, New York Giant and Houston Texan. But since 2009, Demps has been a free agent in the league. And while some people (who won’t be named) would prefer to jump on reality TV or “Dr. Phil,” Demps has decided to get more involved in business, opening his own chain of Wet Willies on the West Coast. The Korean and Puerto Rican hottie is smart, can speak Korean and Spanish, and is HOT! What more could a girl ask for? Check out all the sexiness he has to offer in this slideshow, you won’t be sorry!

Ex-DC Member LaTavia Roberson Opens up About Kelly Rowland & Mathew Knowles

October 4th, 2011 - By Victoria Uwumarogie
Share to Twitter Email This

Well, we know where Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett have been. Wondering what happened to LaTavia Roberson? No?? Well, get over it because we’re going to fill you in on her and what she had to say about Mathew Knowles as a sneaky and hard manager during her DC days. In an interview with the UK newspaper The Daily Mirror, Roberson uncovered what early Destiny’s Child days were like, and it included some very stern tutelage from Mathew.

“Matthew did not mince his words and it can be tough to take that kind of criticism when you are a little girl. We would try not to let it break us. But Kelly [Rowland] was the sensitive one, and sometimes she would go to her room and cry…We worked really hard. It was rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. It would be the four of us and he was like a drill sergeant. When summertime came he would start a camp at his house in Houston.”

Roberson says that in retrospect, all their hard work damn near cost them their childhood:

He would make us wake up early in the morning and take us to Herman Park. There was a three-and-a-half mile track and we would sing while we jogged around it. Then we would go to the house and rehearse. That’s what our days consisted of, seven days a week. Looking back, working that hard did cost us our childhood. But at the time we were just focused on living out our dreams.”

And as they got older and their popularity increased around The Writings on the Wall days, LaTavia and LeToya started feeling like something wasn’t right about their management under Mathew Knowles. Not only were some things done unfairly, but B’s pops did a lot of talking out the side of his mouth:

“Things seemed unfair. Beyoncé and Kelly had cars. I’m not saying pay checks were any different, but Matthew used to say a lot of crazy things like, ‘Y’all should be glad I’m giving you money.’ “We were happy for Matthew to stay on as manager, but we wanted another manager to work with him.”

So the two girls wrote a letter voicing their issues with the way things were being handled. Bad idea. Mathew wasn’t too happy with the girl’s concerns and axed them. Both LaTavia and LeToya, 18 at the time, were kicked out and didn’t know their departure wasn’t 100 percent done and confirmed until they watched the “Say My Name” video. A song they worked on, but a video without either of them in it. To this day, because of all they went through after the fact (Roberson became addicted to alcohol, did a short stint in jail because of a failed drug test, and went through rehab), Roberson says she only has one regret about the whole situation:

“My one regret is that I should have spoken to Beyoncé and Kelly before I sent the letter. That is the one thing I would have done different. I would have gone to my sisters and discussed it with them. After that, we didn’t speak for many years…I am convinced that if it was not for Matthew Knowles we would still be together as a band.”

Wow, talk about drama. I can kind of feel her pain, but at the same time, LeToya got back on her feet and has been pretty successful without Destiny’s Child, so…nevermind, let me be nice. Good luck LaTavia!
