Leona Lewis may have just opened herself up for a Twitter beatdown as a result of an interview with the UK’s Daily Star. During the chat with the tabloid, the singer let out a little known fact about Rihanna’s old hit, “We Found Love”: It was originally her song.

“I worked with Calvin and we recorded ‘We Found Love,’” she told them. “But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it.

“I didn’t commit to it because I wanted ‘Trouble’ to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna. It was the same version and production but mine’s better.”

See what I mean about the navy? It’s totally common for songs to get passed around among singers in the industry but that “mine’s better” quip may not sit to well with Rih Rih’s fans, nor the Bajan singer herself who has been known to check a person or 20 on her Twitter page. Plus, for Leona to allege that her version was better than the one that went on to snag the number 1 spot in 25 countries is saying quite a lot. For her part, Leona does seem to realize a lot of that has to do with the star power she doesn’t quite have.

“It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit [the song] was around the world but if I’d released it maybe it wouldn’t have done as well.,” she said. “There are so many songs I’ve recorded, only to hear other people singing them. It happens all the time.”

One thing that won’t happen is being able to judge whose version is in fact better because Leona said she’d never release her rendition because that would be “unprofessional.”

Without hearing Leona sing the song, I have to say letting Rihanna have the track was a good move. “We Found Love” (in a hopeless place nonetheless) is truly the story of her life and I really can’t imagine anyone else singing it. Rih Rih better thank her lucky stars though, this isn’t the first time a single meant for someone else brought her mega-success. The Huffington Post points out that “Umbrella,” which the singer came to be known for, was originally Britney Spears’ song, and her people even beat out Mary J. Blige in begging for the track. If she hadn’t gotten that, she may have been a “Pon de Replay” one hit wonder.

When most people think of the term “Blonde Bombshell,” images of silver screen goddesses such as Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow of yesteryear and even Scarlett Johannsen immediately come to mind. There is something about blonde hair that many people find fascinating, leading them to wonder “Do blondes REALLY have more fun?” and “Do gentleman prefer blondes?” as the movie by the same name would have us believe. Going blonde is not an easy feat to pull off for ANYONE who was not naturally born with flaxen strands, and it can be a particularly difficult color for women of color to pull off. Yet, there is a growing bevy of blonde beauties who are doing just that! Here’s a list of our favorite stars who have rocked out as blondes at one point or another and easily could give Goldilocks a well-worn run for her money any day of the week.

Although Bey has periodically drawn criticism from fans who have complained that she, at times, has been styled to look “too white,” she has rocked a variety of shades of blonde hair beautifully for the duration of her career. That’s exactly why she is a spokeswoman for Féria by L’Oréal.

I haven’t heard Leona Lewis sing in a very long time. In fact, I’ve actually only seen “The X Factor” winner strut her stuff on red carpets and in Cotton commercials over the past year or two. But when you dress like this, who cares what you’re “supposed” to be doing, right?

The singer hit up the Doha Tribeca Film Festival all the way in Doha, Qatar over the weekend, and while many attendees went for bright colors, she kept it plain, simple and fresh in a white blazer with a black collar, slim black dress pants and what probably is a simple black tank underneath. With her hair pulled back and some dainty teardrop earrings, Lewis set this outfit off with some statement making red pumps that gave her both height and a nice pop of color.

I totally think this outfit is fun, and I like that she went against the grain and wore a bright white (or even possibly cream) jacket after Labor Day. The fact that she went for slim pants and not big, wide-leg joints is also pretty fab, and the red shoes are fly. AND her makeup with the pink pout and the dark eyelids is very fun as well. I’m calling this look a “style to steal,” especially since I’m a fan of menswear pieces. But what do you think?
