“Choosey Lover” And “No, No, No”: 9 Songs You You Probably Didn’t Know Vince Herbert Wrote And Produced
For many people, when you think of Vince Herbert these days, you think of Tamar Braxton, or a Lady Gaga. He has steered the careers of both women and helped them obtain major success. But before he was doing that, he was a writer and producer for quite a few major talents during the ’90s. Here are 9 hits and deep cuts that Vince (then credited as Vincent Herbert or V.H.) has lent his talents to over the years.
There’s no denying that Hollywood’s biggest celebrities are also among some of its most beautiful. Toss a rock on a red carpet and you’re bound to hit one of the most gorgeous women you’ve ever seen. But don’t think these lovely ladies don’t have a little help in the beauty department. From expensive spa treatments to the latest in anti-aging technology, Hollywood starlets spare no expense in staying on top of the looks game. So as summer approaches, and Hollywood’s hottest start showing of their goods more than usual, we take a look at some of these off-the-wall beauty regimes.
No one could dispute that being a celebrity certainly comes with privileges, but there’s a downside to everything. Unfortunately, because these stars spend so much time in the limelight, they’ve been the target of negative criticism after being bullied because their weight.
Ke$ha doesn’t fit the stereotype of how the average singer/rapper is supposed to look. Born and raised in Los Angeles, the 27-year-old marches to the beat of her own drum, so when it was revealed that the “Die Young” rapper checked into rehab for an eating disorder earlier this year, fans were shocked. Even worse, her mother revealed that Ke$ha was bullied to lose weight by people within her own inner circle. Soon after checking in, Ke$sha released a statement: “I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself but I’ve found it hard to practice.” She continued that she was aiming “to learn to love myself again. Exactly as I am.”
In this day and age where celebs and everyday folks take to their social media pages to share every little detail of their lives, there are still some stars who like to keep their private lives very private.
Cassie and Diddy
Rumor had it Diddy and Cassie were dating well before they were ever photographed together. Caught up in a love triangle with Cassie and his children’s mother Kim Porter, Diddy snuck around with the “Me & U” singer showing up at the same events but making sure to never arrive or leave together. Recently the two have been more open about their relationship in public and on social media. Diddy has posted photos professing his love for Cassie and last month sparked rumors when he put up a picture of an engagement ring with the caption, “Baby do you like it? I just want to get you wat you Like!” he added. “I just wanna Mk you smile #takeDat!”

Beyoncé, Gaga, Nicki, Miley: Patti LaBelle Finally Identifies Which “Divas” Actually Deserve The Title
Diva is NOT the female version of a hustler anymore, guys. According to Patti LaBelle, a diva is either someone with at least 25 to 30 years in the game or a woman with real, undeniable talent.
Of course, Patti has made her distress clear in the last month or so over female performers being called “divas” so soon, and when so many can barely hold a note. And I can somewhat agree with her grievances, especially since every lineup for the VH1 Divas show since the golden days of Mary J Blige and Whitney, Aretha and Tina Turner, have been divas-in-training like Demi Lovato, Keri Hilson and Jordin Sparks.
On Watch What Happens Live, LaBelle was given a cow bell to ring when the image of a performer from today flashed on the screen and she didn’t agree that they were the divas people had pegged them as. I guess this was done to finally put some names and faces to who the modern-day divas are and who has falsely been labeled as one.
Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift were featured, but I’ll let you check out the video to see who she said was diva-worthy and who wasn’t. But LaBelle did reiterate her initial complaints when defining what a “diva” is:
“These heifers have to get on stage and show that they can perform. Not with 20 people up there with them. No.”
So what do you think of the women LaBelle believed were true divas? There are some surprises, right? Talk about it below.
These days not only can we watch celebrities in movies and on TV, buy their music, attend their concerts and follow them on social media, we can also study them in college. From Beyoncé to Michael Jackson – check out our list of celebs who’ve inspired college courses. Which courses would you take?
If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again. And you might want to try a new way to reach your goals. That’s exactly what these uber-famous folks did before they finally made it to the top. They were fired from media jobs, kicked out of talent competitions, and denied record deals left and right. Yet and still, they’re Academy Award winners, multi-million making moguls, and the big dogs in Hollywood. Here are 10 celebrities who tried, failed, tried again, and succeeded massively.
Talk about the come up of a lifetime! Jennifer Hudson, once a Disney Cruise Lines singer, auditioned for American Idol in 2004. This was the same season that brought us Fantasia Barrino, and while we assumed the two women would be singing against each other in the final two or maybe three, Hudson was voted off seventh, just two weeks after receiving the highest votes for her performance of Elton John’s “The Circle of Life.”
Of course, most American Idol contestants who don’t win are usually rarely heard from again, but Hudson would go on to have the most success of any contestant who didn’t take home the title. She of course won an Academy Award for her work in Dreamgirls, has released two albums and just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Winning!
Sometimes an artist takes the stage and blows everyone away with a great performance. And sometimes, the performance is overshadowed by an embarrassing outfit blunder. Hey, it happens to the best of them. Check out the worst celebrity performance outfits ever.
After living in the shadows of her big sister Toni Braxton, and then her other sisters, Tamar has finally stepped into the spotlight all on her own. The “Love and War” singer took to the stage at the 2013 Soul Train Awards in a risqué outfit and immediately there was a backlash on social networks. Many believed the sheer outfit, complete with black sequins to cover up her goodies, was a distraction from her singing ability. Not one to let the criticism keep her down, Braxton responded to the flack via twitter: “I’m NOT on the red carpet & if u like my performance & outfit thank u if not pray 4 me.”
They’re international, baby!
It’s no surprise Mrs. Sasha Fierce and her equally ferocious husband have taken the world by storm landing on Forbes’ 2013 list of the World’s Highest-Paid Musicians. Beyonce took ninth place in a tie with country singer Kenny Chesney, while Jay Z landed in the 18th spot. The wife and husband duo earned $53 million and $42 million this year, respectively.
Beyoncé snapped back with a quickness after the birth of Blue Ivy and launched the Mrs. Carter World Tour, an homage to her husband. She grabbed $2 million in every city she performed in and let’s not forget the steady flow of cash she collects from her old hits. The sultry songstress, endearingly called “Queen Bey” by fans, also accumulated her wealth through endorsement deals with Pepsi and H&M.
Her husband, making $11 million less than his wife, made his 2013 fortune with his keen eye for business. His ventures with Armand de Brignac champagne, D’Ussé cognac, and his Roc Nation management firm helped place him on Forbes’ coveted list.
Jay Z’s bad girl protégé, Rihanna, sits right on top of her mentor in 16th place. The Bajan beauty pulled in $43 million in 2013. With the release of her seventh album, Unapologetic, and dishing out hit-after-hit, like Diamonds and Stay, Rihanna’s rockstar persona continues to rake in the dough.
Dr. Dre, Jay Z’s former partner in rhyme, ranked 20th along with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, earning $40 million. Diddy outdid them all, and even his former lover, Jennifer Lopez who’s in 15th place, and ranked 12th on the list. Hip-hop’s richest artist earned himself $50 million in 2013 thanks to his Ciroc vodka deal, Bad Boy label, Sean John clothing line, and marketing firm Blue Flame. That $50 million might grow exponentially if Diddy’s new TV network, Revolt, takes off.
As for the top three richest musicians of the world, the honor go to Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Bon Jovi, who reaped in $125, $80, and $79 million, respectively.
To come up with their list, Forbes looked at the musicians’ income between June 1st of 2012 and June 1st of this year, taking into account concert ticket sales, royalties for recorded music and publishing, merchandise sales, endorsement deals, and other business ventures. Their data sources included the RIAA, Pollstar, Nielsen SoundScan, attorneys, managers, and even many of the artists as well.
It’s really hard to know where to begin with this performance from Saturday Night Live. Let’s start with Gaga’s hair: it looked like the blonde version of the wig Gina wore after her head got stuck in the headboard of the Nefertiti 2000 on Martin. Then, and most shockingly, the performance between Lady Gaga & R. Kelly was so awkward that it was laughable.
This is the first time Gaga has performed “Do What You Want,” her second single and since she was the musical guest on SNL, it seemed appropriate that she invite the Kellz to perform it with her since he’s featured on the song. But before we could even get to him popping up onstage, we had to deal with Gaga getting reacquainted with her crotch area.
Then, R. Kelly came out for his verse and there was a lot pf her jumping up on him, him carrying her while singing, bending over so he could give her a tap on the booty. Granted, the song is about a man doing what he wants to her body so the point was seemingly to give us a performance that lived up to the lyrics.
But then…but THEN, Gaga laid down on her back and R. Kelly hovered over her doing push ups, essentially simulating sex. IT was actually more funny that I think it was supposed to be.
Anyway, do yourself a favor and watch the clip from last night.
