LOVE & HIP-HOP ATLANTA GETS HOT

“Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” has become one of the highest rated shows on VH1 because of all the ratchet ish that went down between the cast members. Steevie J, Joseline, and Mimi made this show what it is because of their confusing love triangle and some of the most unbelievable things happened right before our eyes that had nothing to do with love or hip-hop, just a group of people acting like they ain’t never been nowhere in front of the cameras. After watching just one episode, I can truly say I know how the saying “Where they do that at” came about. Welcome to Atlanta. Let’s do a quick recap to show you some of the craziest things that went down:

We love Bey, but Put a Ring On It gave a lot of thirsty chicks the wrong impression. Lots of women want to get married, but some celebrity women are so thirsty for a ring that they’re scaring men off. Nothing’s wrong with being upfront about what you want, all we’re saying is can you give him a chance to like it first so he can put a ring on it?!

What time is it, folks? Cute baby alert time of course! Time to take a look at the adorable children of some of our favorite folks based on what pictures these celebs decided to post via their social media. Because in Hollywood, your love isn’t real if you don’t post it on Instagram…kidding of course! Let’s proceed.

Aren’t Monica’s kids just too cute for school? Rodney Jr. (to the left) and Romelo (to the right), fitted caps in tow, posed it up for pictures recently. After Rodney did his gangsta-fied tilted cap pose, his little bro followed suit. As Monica put it: “❤Rocko & Romelo ❤ so funny My Baby Boy loves to emulate His Big Brother #FamilyForever#ChiTownBound

The boys were also snapped stunting in front of a Lambo and Ferrari before getting ready to head out with their mom. I’m digging that they tried to match their outfits to the cars. The serious face on both boys is too cute. Or am I getting the Tyra Banks-approved smize?

Rapper Game posted some cute pics of his kids recently. The above is of his son, King, wearing his dad’s jewels (which the rapper claim his son took while he was asleep), and the rest are pics of his first-born son Harlem and daughter, Cali Dream, as they went to Sea World and helped his baby girl celebrate her birthday at the San Diego Zoo. Check out all the cuteness below!

And the below picture is of Game back when he was a little guy. His kids are a spitting image, right? He was all innocent, you know, before the “b***hes” and “ho*s” and spitting on fans and stuff…

Kimbella of “Love and Hip Hop” posted pics of her kids this past week, and debuted her daughter for the world to see. Meet Little Miss Bella Monroe James. Sleeping beauty, indeed!

And father and son got all cute in a few candid shots. Big Juelz (aka, LaRon…lol) and baby Juelz.

Lastly, Nick and Mariah released more photos of their fast growing twins, Monroe and Moroccan (aka, Dem Babies). Via their website, we collected images of the tots dressed to impress (including Monroe in her mother’s shirt, which looked like a baby gown), and daddy showing Roc some love.

It’s a Girl for Kimbella and Juelz Santana!

Just a week after her BFF Yandy gave birth to a little boy, “Love & Hip-Hop’s” Kimbella welcomed a baby girl into the world with rapper Juelz Santana Saturday night. The 7-pound, 3-ounce baby girl is the second child the couple has together but both parents have children from previous relationships—Kimbella, a son named Leandro, and Juelz, Juelz, Jr.

Though the status of the couple’s relationship was up in the air at the time Season 2 of “Love & Hip-Hop” ended, it appears Juelz plans to be a stand-up father even if his on-again/off-again relationship with Kimbella doesn’t work out. After the birth of their daughter, he tweeted the pic above along with a quote from Nas’ song “Daughters,” writing:

“U won’t ever need no n***a for s*** cuz daddy got you.”

Looks like there will be two new bambinos on LHH next season—congrats!

Awwwww! We love showing off the cutest celeb babies. While relaxing on the beach with mom (“Love and Hip Hop’s Kimbella) and dad (Juelz Santana of course), little Juelz Jr. soaked up the sun, fell asleep while sitting up (SOOOOO cute) and opted out of delicious baby food and treats for sand. That’s okay though, we’ll just hope they stopped that immediately after the adorable picture was taken. And we haven’t seen Kimbella in so long, so it’s nice to see her actually getting to have family time with her man. And she looks great preggers! And the father and son time picture is too cute for words. Check out more of lil’ man below (and above) in all his cute-ness as he’s gotten bigger.

And in other cute kid alerts, we couldn’t pass up on the chance to show off the very photogenic Violet Nash, the baby girl of Christina Milian and The-Dream. We’ve been saying since her birth that she she looks exactly like The-Dream, and she’s MAD adorable! If you’ve ever seen her out with mom (or just look at the above picture), you’ll know that she has a lot of personality and some big ‘ol cheeks we’d love to pinch! Check her out in all her smiling glory and as she quenches her thirst.

Cutest. Kids. Ever. Or at least, the cutest we’ve seen since yesterday!

By now we have all seen the season finale of Love & Hip-Hop. Plus now that the reunion is set for Monday Feb 6th , I can’t help but recap the show’s most controversial moments. Chrissy, Emily, Yandy and Olivia may not be the best female role models but we can definitely learn from their continuous on-screen drama – good or bad…

Do We Ignore Mommy Issues?

January 10th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

On last week’s episode of “Love and Hip Hop” Kimbella hinted that she had mommy issues that accounted for a lot of the choices she made when it came to men; and on last night’s show, she confronted her mother about the example she set for her growing up and the effect that has on her as a mother now.

I can’t lie, it was difficult to feel bad for Kimbella, mostly because she’s such an unsympathetic character. I really wasn’t trying to hear how Kimbella’s mother sticking it out with her cheating father led to her posing nearly naked in black men’s magazines, but after a while I thought, if we can blame daddy issues for the reason strippers are on the pole, why can’t Kimbella’s mommy issues account for at least some of the dysfunction in her life?

In my own personal experience, I’ve always said the presence of my mother had a much greater effect on me than the absence of my father. It’s just sheer math. I was around my mother much more and that was my primary example—luckily, for me, it was a positive one. When I wrote about Kelly Rowland wanting to reconnect with her father, a few commenters brought up the idea that society is much harder on deadbeat mothers than they are absentee fathers, but I don’t think that’s always the case. Sure, the women in headline-grabbing stories who abuse their children in some way or even take their child’s life are crucified by the media and the public, but what about the everyday mother who just isn’t setting the best example? There’s a lot of sympathy for her. Her inability to be “the perfect mother” is usually excused by the fact that she had to work so much to provide for her family, or she was walked out on, or she never got over a bad relationship.

That dynamic was evident with Kimbella and her mother. Her mom said her husband liked to gamble so she had to make a living but Kimbella still blamed her mother for investing more time in her father than in helping her develop as a young woman, particularly when it came to relationships. My inclination was to roll my eyes, but again, if an absent father can explain why women get in bad relationships, why can’t the bad example set by a mother?

Reactions on Twitter showed a lot other people weren’t buying Kimbella’s terrible mother excuse for her bad choices either. And while I’m also skeptical of people who reduce all of their poor decisions in life to the lack of a male role model, I think society is much less inclined to believe that a poor female role model could have just as much of an effect.

There’s also more of a sense of guilt attached to admitting your mother may not have done everything right. There’s nothing novel about not having a father. You’re more likely to get a surprised reaction if you say you grew up in a two-parent household than if you were to say “I hate my father,” or “my dad wasn’t ish,” but mamas? People don’t like to talk about their mothers, especially if they did try their hardest under harsh circumstances and you still feel they failed you in some way. It’s not easy to admit the anger you hold inside about some of your mother’s poor choices and it definitely isn’t easy to talk to your mother about where she may have gone wrong despite having the best intentions.

Granted, there is seemingly a large difference between trying your best and failing and not trying at all—which is what seems to be the case with a lot of fathers. But I think the very shortcomings that plague mothers are the same ones that affect fathers—the parents just react differently. For men, it’s easier to run and escape the situation while women are typically more adept at figuring out some sort of way to make it work as best they can. This doesn’t excuse the male behavior but I think it explains it in some ways. Even as I watched the show with my own mother last night, she said Kimbella couldn’t keep holding on to all that anger about her mother and she needed to let it go, but I wondered if my mom would feel the same way if Kimbella was talking about her father.

Do you think people have more sympathy for less-than-ideal mothers than they do fathers? Do you think it’s harder for people to admit they wish they had a better mother than a better father?

Lesson Learned? Erica Mena Says VH1 Fight Ruined Her Career

December 28th, 2011 - By Brande Victorian
Share to Twitter Email This

First Kimbella was the reason Erica Mena couldn’t get any work—you know, because “booty” models like her mess things up for “real” models by doing videos and shoots for free—now Erica says VH1  has ruined her career.

She claims her fight with Kimbella, which aired on Monday’s episode, has thrown a major wrench in her modeling career. But it’s not her fault, of course, she says the network misrepresented her by painting her in a bad light and making Kimbella look like a saint. Erica says:

“My whole image in my career is now affected by this. I wanted them to pull this clip because I don’t want to show this side of me.”

Unless VH1 photoshopped her throwing a drink back at Kimbella and grabbing her hair, there’s no misrepresentation. This may not be her best side but it’s still her side; and If VH1 is the culprit behind the “Love and Hip Hop” fight then who’s to blame for this fight between her and her boyfriend when she punches and kicks him in the face? I see only one common denominator here. Well, perhaps two. She seems like the type of girl to turn angry after one too many cocktails and try to play innocent the next morning.

I don’t know why these girls keep agreeing to hang around women they already know they don’t like. If you put yourself in that situation, you’re walking into the lion’s den and should expect something to pop off sooner or later–although I’d also like Yandy to stop trying to make everyone into one big happy family. Let this be a lesson to future women wanting to take the Reality TV route. Fifteen minutes of fame isn’t worth the price you pay in the long run.

Check out the fight here and tell us who you think is in the wrong. Did VH1 misrepresent Erica or is she just not owning up to her mistakes?

Fabolous on Love and Hip Hop: I Am Not the Bad Guy

December 2nd, 2011 - By Brande Victorian

Fabolous’s rep with women has pretty much been in the trash since Emily let us in on his indiscretions throughout their nine years together on Love and Hip Hop. Despite the allegations, rumors, and even the facts of their “relationship,” Fab still says he’s not the bad guy and, if anything, it’s the producers of the reality show who don’t care about Emily.

Here’s a few snippets from his interview on the Angie Martinez show yesterday:

Thoughts on Love and Hip Hop

It’s just not my cup of tea. It’s just one-side of what’s going on. I don’t bash it but I’m not really in support of it either. I don’t think it depicts me the way I am; it just depicts a one-sided version of what’s really going on.

Feelings about Kimbella being added to the cast

That’s how you know the producers of that show… I wouldn’t say that they don’t care about Emily but they’re there to make entertaining television. If they can dig up a girl from four years ago who can make an interesting twist in an episode of their show then guess what, they’ll do it. Where did she come from?

On whether he’s the bad guy

I’m not. From their depiction of what I am, I can see why people would think that but I’m also not going to bash the show and get into a verbal back and forth with my son’s mother over some people who really don’t know me and they don’t change anything in my life.

Are you and Emily in a good place?

I think so; I think we have a great relationship as far as being a mother and father or woman and man or whatever our situation is without a title. I think we’re in a good space communicating. She’s traveled with me for my birthday; she hadn’t really did much traveling with me at all but I thought it was a time where we could hang out and get to re-getting to know each other. Now we’re at different ages; I’ve known her for years and now we have a son together; her daughter’s older. It’s a different situation so it’s kind of like regrouping but the show is entertainment, so they’re not going to show that.

Well, it’s clear Emily’s not keeping her distance despite moving out of Fab’s place. Read the rest of the transcript on NecoleBitchie.com or listen to the interview on Angie Martinez.

Do you think Fab is right about the producers of the show digging up Kimbella and adding her to the cast? Do you still think he’s the bad guy?
