It’s no secret that Katt Williams is grabbing news headlines these day for bizarre incidents. One is more likely to see news about Williams’ arrests more than his comedy routine and, according to his former personal assistant, the incidents “are getting stranger.”

“I was in court many a time with Katt,” said Brooks Jackson Colyar, who worked as Katt’s personal assistant from fall of 2012 to February 2015. “But from what I have been hearing lately the situations are strange… I am really worried about him. I don’t think the people around him are taking care of him like he deserves to be taken care of.”

Like Colyar, many don’t know what to do when someone they work with is seemingly spinning out of control. According to Linda F. Williams, COO and founder of Whose Apple Dynamic Coaching Services, “There are often progressive signs leading up to a psychotic episode. The signs can be subtle. Yet, in hindsight they become a trail of breadcrumbs leading straight to the event. Depending on the core problem, these can be dangerous. At the time that someone ‘loses it’ is not the time for untrained individuals to intervene.”

Even if you feel you know your co-worker well, you can never predict how that person will handle stress or a personal crisis. Colyar is finding that out as she searches for answers about Katt’s current behavior. Colyar, who joined Katt’s team after her marriage to comedian Michael Colyar suddenly fell apart, handled an array of things for Williams–and she not only worked out of his house, she lived there.

“This isn’t the person I got to know so well. I would never say anything against Williams–he saved my life after my divorce by giving me a job and support. So the things in the news are really worrying me. I have never really known Katt to use drugs–I lived with him. And I have had my own past experience with drugs and my ex used drugs, so I know what drug use looks like and I didn’t see any of that in Katt’s house or from Katt. Even at one point he was apparently diagnosed as being bipolar, and even then he did not rely on medication. He worked out, avoided stress, and ate right,” she said. “And since I lived and worked out of his home, I got to see the other side of Katt. But it is true that if Katt feels he’s been disrespected, well then that’s when a different Katt surfaces. But people are always trying to provoke him for monetary gains.”

Colyar, who is now producing her own female comedy tour of U.S. military bases, said her time working with Katt was “fantastic” and reconciling her experience with what’s she’s been reading now about the comedian is almost impossible. While Colyar is no longer working with Katt and is judging the current situation from the outside looking in, if you are working with someone who appears to be suffering a mental or emotional breakdown there are some things you can do.

“When a boss or co-worker is spiraling out of control, the first step is to help them get out of the spiral. Ask them to go on a walk with you,” advised stress reduction expert and coach Melissa Heisler, author of  From Type A to Type Me: How to Stop ‘Doing’ Life and Start Living It. “When we are in a stressful situation, our fight-or-flight limbic brain takes over. Unfortunately this is the part of the brain which runs on autopilot, resulting in cloudy thinking when it is engaged. By walking away from the situation, disengaging from it, we can deactivate our limbic brain. In doing so, we re-engage our conscious thinking mind, giving us the mental power to solve the stressful situation.”

In offering assistance, it’s important that you stay in control, Williams said. “Keep a calm demeanor and even-toned voice with the individual. The temptation will be to respond with commensurate emotion. Don’t do it. Calmly state that you wish to continue the discussion at a later time and remove yourself from the threat.”

If the situation is too tense for you to deal with, leave. Being around someone who is acting out of character can become dangerous. “Not all ‘losing it’ events are due to mental disorders. Yet, you are not likely to know whether it is or not,” Williams added. “Remove yourself as quickly and safely as possible from the situation and immediately report it to a person in authority. If you feel threatened report it.  Do not second guess it. The authorities will sort it out. If you feel uncertain about reporting such behaviors, just remember the life that might be saved in the long run.”

Heisler echoed that advice, saying “If those steps fail, protect yourself by walking away. If the situation is escalating and the other person has no intention of calming down, walk away. Emotional energy is contagious. Being around someone out of control can negatively affect your own mood and clarity. Remove yourself from a toxic situation.”

You also want to be sure you discuss and report the situation or your concerns with HR. “Immediately report it to the appropriate individuals — his or her supervisor, personnel, whomever your internal protocol identify as the appropriate contact. Follow up any verbally reported incidents in writing . Because many workplaces have a no-tolerance rule against workplace violence, these incidents must be reported.”

Added Williams, “These are touchy situations. When a person is irrational, even the kindest gesture can result in a bad outcome. The best thing you can do to help that individual is to report the incident to the appropriate supervisory authorities. De-escalation of an event takes training and skill. Once the blowup occurs, it is best to safely remove yourself from the situation and keep very calm in doing so.  Depending on the root of it, professional intervention might be required.”

According to Colyar, it is her concern that has compelled her to speak out when it comes to Katt. “I am a very private person and I would never want to say anything to upset Katt because he was so good to me. He saved my life! I want to keep my friendship with him intact. But I am hoping that by me talking out someone around him will step up and start taking control of the situation and make sure he is sleeping and being cared for.” If she could talk to Katt directly, Colyar said “I [would] tell him whatever he needs, I am here. I love and care for him. I will always be here for him when he needs. Katt is worth saving, and I just hope this happens.”

Sherri Shepherd Recounts Time Katt Williams Stood Her Up On A Date: “I Sat There All Day And Waited, And Waited, And Waited”

Who knew that Katt Williams and Sherri Shepherd dated back in the day?!

Well, actually, they were supposed to date, but they didn’t because Williams stood Shepherd up.

Shepherd shared a very interesting story while co-hosting “The Real” recently. She talked about the time she got all dolled up and spent all kinds of money for a date with Williams, only for the stand-up comedian to leave her hanging. She was so mad that she was tempted to pull a Jazmine Sullivan and bust the windows out of his car. Make that cars: all eight of them. It all started when the women talked about horrible dates in their past.

“There was another comic, his name I should not mention because he’s huge now. This was just a date. He asked me if I wanted to go golfing. I don’t golf. So I went out and bought a whole set of clubs. I bought the little sun visor. I bought a special golf wig. I bought the shoes, everything. He confirmed and everything. I sat there all day and waited, and waited, and waited. So I called my girl, Niecy Nash, she was working on Reno 911. I said, ‘We going over there, I’m going to bust all the windows out of all eight of his cars!’

He stood me up, so she came over and we got in the car and she was like, ‘Diva do you really want to? It’s bad publicity!’ I was like, ‘Any publicity is good publicity. We about to climb over the gated community fence and we’re going to tear up his gate!’ So we got there. Here’s the problem with trying to get over gated community walls: They’re too high. I think I got arthritis in my knee cause I tried to jump over the wall and it wouldn’t work. Niecy and I, we ended up going back for drinks.”

Eventually, Shepherd told the ladies who this date disser was (they incorrectly guessed Eddie Murphy, Tommy Davidson, Tracy Morgan and even Chris Tucker), to which Tamar Braxton responded, “You let Katt stand you up?!” So Shepherd continued with her story:

“He said he was going to have the plane pick me up and take me golfing! I got stood up. I took the clubs back, I took the golfing outfit back, I took the visor back. He acted like he didn’t stand me up! I said, ‘What happened?’ He was like, ‘I didn’t stand you up! I didn’t stand you up!’ He said it just like that!”

Clearly Shepherd hasn’t had the best luck with men, but then again, who has?

Hazel-E Finally Found A Man Willing To Claim Her In Public, And It’s Katt Williams: “She Is A Beautiful Person”

If you watched this season of “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood,” you know that Hazel-E spent the entire season being treated awfully by just about every person she thought was a friend. No one hurt her more it seems than rapper Yung Berg. While she clearly cared for him, he treated her as just his plaything, even after she broke down crying in his face, asking him to “ride for me” the way she consistently was down for him. At some point, he just became cruel, dissing the song she wrote about him and then giving it away, taking random women to events he declined to attend with her and eventually, going into a relationship with someone she thought she could trust–Masika Tucker.

Some people have called Hazel-E delusional, others have felt sorry for her. Wherever you stand, I think we can agree that she needs to find someone who will treat her a lot better.

Well, she just might have found that person, and it’s funnyman Katt Williams of all people…

In a chat with Sister 2 Sister at his comedy show in Cincinnati, both Hazel-E and Williams revealed their fondness for each other. As expected, Williams makes the reality star laugh…and blush:

“We met through a mutual acquaintance at an event at The London Hotel in Hollywood. Our relationship has been official for a few weeks. It’s still new, exciting and refreshing. I still blush when I see him and that’s every day. It doesn’t hurt that he is the funniest man on the planet. I cry laughing all day.”

When Williams spoke about Hazel-E, he skipped the jokes and got serious about appreciating how positive the reality star and rapper is.

“I’m excited. She is a beautiful person and she brings a lot of positive energy to my life.”

We’re still on the fence about whether or not they’re actually serious about each other, because she was just booed up with Tom Hanks’ son, Chet, not too long ago. But Hazel-E could use a good man (seriously, what was she thinking with Yung Berg!?), and Williams could use someone who keeps him on the straight and narrow.

What do you think of the new happy couple?

Y’all Gon’ Make Him Act A Fool: Katt Williams Pulls A Gun On A Racist Heckler

Katt Williams Pulls A Gun On A Racist

Just a couple of months ago, when he appeared on the Arsenio Hall show, we were remarking at how well comedian Katt Williams seemed to be doing. He explained and took ownership for some of his off-centered behavior in the past and even admitted that if he got his act together, he’d be greater than he is today.

And his name wasn’t associated with any drama for the past few months.

But today, TMZ is reporting that Williams got into an altercation with someone at the Comedy Store, a night club, in Hollywood, last night. Sometime during the drama, Williams pulled a gun out.

Eyewitnesses told TMZ that Katt was inside the club, not performing on stage, when someone started heckling him, making comments about his size and race. And Katt didn’t take too kindly to it. The eyewitness says he “went crazy” and pulled a gun on the person making the remarks.

Someone called 911, claiming that someone was waving a gun around, and six cop cars arrived at the scene. Officers pointed guns at the club, preparing for…whatever.

But Katt wasn’t even there anymore. He’d already left.

So far no arrest warrant has been issued but officers are still investigating.

You know, I fully understand that Katt Williams isn’t exactly making the best decisions but it’s also very clear that people are trying to get a rise out of him, talking all types of crazy when they see him in the street. Someone can hurl racist language at you but the moment you pull a gun out, you’re the crazy one.

Honestly, it’s a wonder more of us haven’t snapped.

Watch The Trailer For The New Nick Cannon Directed Movie “School Dance”

school dance feat

Just last week, we reported that, despite their minor Twitter “beef,” Mike Epps and Kevin Hart would be starring in the new Nick Cannon directed comedy School Dance.

Well the trailer from the film, set to hit select theaters on July 2, was just released. And while we saw Mike Epps, Kevin Hart doesn’t appear to be in it. If he makes a cameo in the film, it would have made sense to put him in the clip, considering the brightness of his star these days. But Kevin certainly has enough on his plate these days.

Anyway, the ensemble cast includes big name comedians like Katt Williams, Affion Crockett, Lil Duval and Luenell. We also pepped Amber Rose in there.

School Dance is something like a coming of age/dance movie but probably more vulgar than you’re used to. According to Lionsgate, the rated R film follows Jason, played by Bobb’e J. Thompson, a high schooler who “has found his dream girl—the gorgeous Anastacia. There’s just one problem: she doesn’t know he exists. If he can win a spot on the school’s hottest dance crew, Jason might have a shot. But before he does, he’ll have to overcome his battle-ax of a mother, survive Anastacia’s gangsta brother, and pass the crew’s initiation—in this fresh, sexy, and outrageously funny comedy.”

Personally, I was happy to see Katt Williams back in action. He definitely made me chuckle a few times in this clip, alone. So I’ll probably check it out.

Take a look at the clip below and let us know if this looks good to you.

If School Dance is showing near you, will you check it out?

“If I Got My Act Together I Would Be Greater Than I Am” : Katt Williams Talks Lessons Learned & His Comedic Comeback

Katt Williams, at his prime, during his hey-day was unstoppable. He was hilarious, he had a bustling movie career and he had to have been making beaucoup bucks touring and selling out shows. But then in 2012, things went far left. Headline after headline about Katt Williams came out. There was the time he lobbed rocks at someone, he punched his female assistant and then most famously the video of him punching a Target employee. And after that crazy year, Katt told a local news team, with tears in his eyes, that he was retiring for comedy.

It was sad but also very clear that he needed to take a break and sit down somewhere for a little bit. But judging from his recent appearance on the Arsenio Hall show, Katt is working on a comeback. But before we start buying tickets, we have to know what the hell happened. Katt sat down with Arsenio recently to talk about the lessons learned and what really happened in that Target video.

See what he had to say in the excerpts below and then take a look at the video.

Do you heckle yourself?

“Understand if you don’t, then you’re not being true to the craft. The craft says that you talk about everybody and to exclude yourself from that is to do a disservice to yourself so I heckle me privately in a way you wouldn’t imagine. Because I’m not a fan of mine. I don’t think I’m the greatest comedian. I don’t think I’m good looking. I don’t think any of that. I think exactly what the facts are. And I think if I got my act together I could be greater than what I am right now. And I think if I mess up, I should be able to fix it and rewrite the ship and get on.

That comes from the DNA we’re born with as Americans. That’s how we get down. We like to take a punch in the face and say ‘Was that it?'”

There was a lesson that I needed to learn. God helps me. If you’re slow, he understands you’re slow. I’m in a weird position as a person in Hollywood anyway because of the amount of truth that I will tell and I take joy in it. There’s no way you can tell that much truth and not offend some portion of the population.”

Katt says that being 5’5 when people approach him on some foolishness, he’s always been accustomed to firing back with his fists. But during that 2012 year, he learned that he could no longer live like that.

“As a professional and as somebody who’s now where I stand. I can no longer do that. Those are just the brakes. They had to bleep it before they showed it, because if you hear what I’m saying, what he’s saying to me, you’d say, ‘Why hasn’t he punched him yet?’ I’m saying but I wasn’t smart enough at the time to realize, this dude is trying to make me punch him. I’m not familiar with that. Where does that come from? Where you want me to punch you for your benefit. And understand, I’m not connected to that. Hey, you can still walk up on me…whatever your intent may be–good or bad.”

Arsenio asks if that man was just trying to get paid.

“Yeah, but he said it standing next to his manager, at the place he worked at, like…but I had never heard the N-word, directed at me with vitrol. And so now, this was a–I use the word too much and I’m realizing as he’s saying it, ‘Oh you think you can say it cuz I say it?’ And so then I explained to him, ‘No you can’t cuz things will happen.’ And he goes, ‘Nothing will happen.”

Why he was riding that scooter…

I had a broken knee cap at the time. It really means I’m trying to cause no problems at all. I’m in the most docile position I can be in, in an injury and you think that that’s sufficient for you to say what you say. But in this life there are consequences. And I’m going to have to face mine and your nose is going to have to face his.

It was clear that Katt didn’t go into too much detail about what he was really going through at that time but he does seem humble and like he’s learned a few things along the way. Check out the video and tell us what you think about this “improved” Katt Williams and the idea of him coming back to comedy.

‘God Never Leaves:’ Katt Williams Gives Wheelchair-Bound Fan $1,000

Katt Williams is known for getting into trouble, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that he has a huge heart. The 39-year-old comedian shocked one of his Boston fans, who happens to be wheelchair-bound and in dire need of a kidney transplant, when he invited the woman backstage to meet him following one of his shows. Once she was backstage Katt offered her words of encouragement, $1,000 cash and an autographed note that read:

“God never leaves.”

According to TMZ, Katt learned of the fan’s unfortunate situation when one of his security guards saw her crying in the audience at the conclusion of his show. When the body guard inquired about why she was crying, she insisted that she was releasing tears of joy because she hadn’t laughed in such a long time. She also told him about her current situation. When the security guard informed Katt of what the woman told him, Katt reportedly invited her backstage, which is where he presented her with the monetary gift folded in a sheet of paper.

The woman later told TMZ that she was shocked to find ten 100 dollar bills in the sheet of paper, because she initially thought he’d given her a package full of weed. She described the gift as an “awesome surprise.”

How touching!

And We’re Done: Celebrities Whose Fans Are Turning on Them

Beyonce is still catching a lot of shade from her Bow Down video — and the fact that she hasn’t released that “Grown Woman” track yet — but she’s not the only celebrity whose fans may be changing teams. These celebs have annoyed, harassed and stood up their fans for so long that they’re finally moving on.

Keyshia Cole

If you’re sick to death of Keyshia’s mouth, you’re not alone. At a recent performance, Keyshia took shots at the audience when they didn’t clap loud enough and they took shots right back.

Here’s what one of Keyshia’s former fans had to say on Twitter:

“This Beyotch MAAAAAAD, the crowd wasn’t rockin hard w/ her she said “At ths point in my career if u not rockin w/ me u can get out” lmaooooo u not Jay-Z or Beyonce ppl ain’t rockin w/ EVERY song. ..Aye my tickets were free soooo umnmm I can say this “Keyshia a rat w/ money” lol her stage presence says “cheese please” lmaooo”

This on top of her Beyonce shade and hesitance to claim being just black are not bidding well for her future in the business.
