Although we should thank the armed forces everyday for protecting our freedom and liberties, May is National Military Appreciation month. These celebrities have showed their appreciation and support by performing for the troops.
While working on her eighth album in 1998, Mariah Carey decided to cover a song that was first recorded by Brenda K. Starr ten years earlier. Carey enlisted the help of Brett Ratner to direct the music video, which was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s 1953 visit to the U.S. troops in Korea. In the video, Carey emulated Monroe’s hair and make-up while doing her own performance in front of airmen and soldiers at the Edwards Air Force Base in California.
For anybody who ever tuned in to “Showtime At The Apollo” back in the day, you know brutal it can be for contestants to get booed off the stage. If you’re horrifically bad and don’t realize it, not only will the crowd let you know, but they’ll send the Sandman on you; the tap-dancing man thirsty for his own 15-20 seconds of notoriety during each airing. And while most people who get booed, denied a W and even kicked off the stage at the sound of the loudest horn go on to fade into obscurity, there have been a few celebrities who managed to get through the embarrassment and blow up big by cultivating their talents. Here’s nine comedians and singers who got the last laugh.
Not too long ago we talked about our love for our favorite silver fox reporter Anderson Cooper. The white hair, the blue eyes, the boyish grin and giggly laugh, we love it all. But make no mistake about it—AC is no punk.
During an appearance on Kathy Griffin’s new show on Bravo, Anderson explained how he got buck with a passenger on American Airlines who was trying to snap a pic of him on the low with an iPhone. He told her:
“I’m sitting there incredulous that he thinks I don’t see him … and he’s still taking the pictures. “Normally I would just be like, we’re not gonna win this one. But lately I’ve become emboldened, and I grab the guy on the shoulder, and I said something to the effect of, ‘B*****, what the f*** are you doing?’”
Whoa there. That is definitely not the Anderson we see reporting the news on CNN. Since Andy mentioned that it was 6am we’re guessing a) he’s not a morning person, b) he hadn’t had his coffee, or c) he just wasn’t in the mood, but whatever the reason that passenger definitely got more than a pic that morning.
Anderson said after the moment passed he couldn’t believe he snapped on the guy like that but that didn’t stop Kathy from calling him the white 50 Cent. Check out this clip of him retelling the story on her show. What do you think about his reaction?

Look at Isaiah Mustafa, now look at Kathy Griffin, now back to Isaiah…just kidding. For those of you who have a jones for the Old Spice cutie, you can rest assured. Despite rumors, the star of the viral commercial is not seeing Kathy Griffin…or anyone for that matter. There’s still time.
The 37-year-old, Mustafa told People Magazine that his outgoing nature is to blame.
“Anytime I have been hanging out with people in any capacity, it’s always taken as something more.” He met the comedienne backstage at one of shows he was attending.
Mustafa didn’t say Griffin asked him to take his shirt off, but it is a request he gets a lot.
“Everybody asks me to take off my shirt,” he admits. “I just smile, but depending on the circumstances, if I can do it, I’ll do it.”
