Although they were only married for a short time in 1954, their love affair marks one of the first athlete and meja celeb couples.  The sweet part is that although they divorced in 1954, DiMaggio re-entered her life in 1961, spawning rumours that the two were an item again.  After Monroe died of an apparent overdose in 1962, DiMaggio sent a half-dozen roses three times a week to her headstone until his death in 1999.
