The phrase ratchet reality star almost sounds repetitious since there are few, if any, individuals on reality TV with redeeming qualities  But these stars here are some of the most notorious on the tube, and quite honestly, the worst 15-minute celebs we’ve seen in the past few years.

Stevie J

To put it simply, Stevie J is scum and think he’s God. Sorry to break it to you Stevie J, but you’re just ratchet. He has no respect for women and makes everything a joke (remember his strip club threats?) I feel sorry for Mimi and Joseline. They have a problem on their hands forever.

A Jersey Shore town now has to shell out $2.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by a club owner who says officials didn’t want black performers to play at his venue.

Stephen D’Onofrio, who owned The Sawmill Cafe in Seaside Park, claimed municipal officials purposely tried to ruin his business because they didn’t want black performers on his stage, reports New Jersey 101.5. D’Onofrio filed the suit prior to his selling the club in 2009, but a settlement was only reached in the last week. The lawsuit also named several high-ranking town officials, police officers, and others as defendants, who the club owner said tried to prevent him from booking black bands from 2004 to 2009. D’Onofrio claimed The Sawmill was subjected to various forms of harassment, including fines and forced closings.

The problems started when, on April 13, 2004, the Sawmill Café hosted Method Man. D’Onofrio said in a press statement: “The overreaction and subsequent abuse of power that the Sawmill staff and I endured for years after Method Man played will never be forgotten.”

But city officials refuted this, saying D’Onofrio invited the scrutiny of the police, planning, zoning and building departments after he made alleged misrepresentations to the planning board about the use of part of the venue called the Green Room, where Method Man performed. Zoning officials claimed that the restaurant was actually a night club, and night clubs are prohibited in the borough. Even so, city officials acknowledged that entertainment was prevalent at the Sawmill Café for more than 20 years prior to the Method Man event.

According to the radio station, Borough Mayor Robert Matthies confirmed the settlement, saying the town decided it was in “the best interests” of all the defendants. Under the deal, none of the defendants admitted doing anything improper.

“This case is a reminder that there are indeed consequences for the abuse of power by local governments. This is an excellent result for our client, which is what we always strive for,” D’Onofrio’s lawyer Philip Davolos of the law firm Chance and McCann of Bridgeton, said in a press release.

Times are a-changing and so is television, folks. And if you leave it up to television station bosses, whatever makes money will stay on and play itself out no matter how lame the shows get, how many people voice concerns, complaints, or basically say they’re bored. But the following shows truly need to wrap it up. They’ve lost their spark, what made them funny, interesting, and even informative. Check out the following choices and see if you agree. And of course, a majority of the shows are reality TV. But what else do you expect, that’s all we’re getting on our televisions! Special shout out to Viacom for airing most of these programs on their array of stations (and not a good shout out…).

106 & Park

No disrespect, but let’s keep it real: TV shows that cater to music video countdowns and showcasing minimally talented celebrities answering the most basic of questions are out of style. Don’t believe it? Where the hell is “TRL”? Exactly. While this show had its golden years with A.J. and Free and was what everyone was running home to watch, it has become a corny shell of itself. The chemistry between Rocsi and Terrence just wasn’t like what we got from A.J. and Free (who couldn’t see that A.J. had a thing for his co-host?). And seriously, they don’t even really play the videos for more than a minute anymore anyway. Instead of looking for new hosts and forcing these young’ns to have to adjust to new faces, just give it a rest already.

"khloe and lamar"

Whether you’ve heard of the reality TV curse or not, it’s hard to deny the idea that after a couple is on a reality TV show together, they break up.  From scripted TV shows to “unscripted” reality shows, there’s something about the spotlight and attention that seems to create relationship problems once the camera starts rolling.  Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian and husband Lamar Odem recently spoke out to defend their marriage and shoot down the idea that they might soon split due to the constant exposure.  Although her sister Kim is currently going through a divorce to her 3 month hubby Chris Humphries, Khloe and Lamar seem to be holding on strong.  However, some TV romances seem to be just for show and attention and when the cameras turn off, so does the attraction.  Whatever the case, take a look at these 9 couples that fell victim to the infamous reality TV show curse.

The Situation vs. Abercrombie & FitchBy Alexis Garrett Stodghill

What would you do if, thinking you are a hot commodity, one of your favorite labels put out a statement telling the world it hates being associated with you? This is the situation that “The Situation” is facing this morning. Millions are gaping and guffawing today at the news that Abercrombie & Fitch hates the reality star, who often wears the brand on the wildly popular series “Jersey Shore.” Unfortunately the ridiculous antics of The Situation that have brought him tons of fans are not seen so favorably by Abercrombie’s brand managers, who had this to say:

“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image,” a representative from A&F’s brand senses department wrote. “We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

Newser also reports that other cast members of “Jersey Shore” have been offered tidy sums to stop wearing A&F. The Situation was singled out because he does so with the most frequency, often displaying the Abercrombie label on his briefs when famously flashing his abs.

Shows like “Jeopardy,” and channels like the Discovery Channel and PBS are all good and nice if you’re talking about trying to expand your mind on a random weekday.
