‘Oh Hell, I’m Not A Gymnast. I Can’t Do That!’ Tia Mowry Talks Brown-Girl Yoga, Getting Her Body Back, And Being An Auntie
We grew up adoring cuties Tia and Tamera Mowry with their fun ’90s style and sisterly antics on the hit comedy, Sister, Sister. And now, they’ve invited us on their journey through motherhood with their new lifestyle site, TiaAndTameraOfficial.com, which is just as popular as their hit reality TV show, Tia & Tamera on Style. They’ve created an interactive community to reach out directly to their fans, as they share lifestyle tips, beauty and fashion picks, and of course photos of those adorable babies, Cree and Aden!
We recently got to chat with Tia, and she is one busy mama! She filled us in about her new yoga DVD series, Calm Yoga and Core Yoga with Tara Stiles, and tips on how the fit mom keeps herself looking so great post- baby. Of course, she dished on her “twindividual style” and that super sweet pixie cut we love.

If you haven’t checked out Alicia Keys’s new album, Girl On Fire, as of yet, you’re missing out on the awesome-ness that is “Brand New Me.” The song about introspection and change is probably the best track on Girl On Fire, and it’s definitely a fan favorite. In the clip for the song, Keys starts out in a huge curly wig, glasses on, coming off quiet spoken and submissive to a man that we can only guess plays a significant part in her life. As he walks away, commenting on how he likes the Alicia he sees, she starts to sing about finding herself and finally being free. By the end of the video, Keys even rips off her bountiful wig in a very dramatic move to show off that asymmetrical cut we’ve grown accustomed to, tears coming down her face and emotions high. In the end, she looks at the guy as he has no choice but to accept her “change,” and she smiles at her new happiness.
It’s an uplifting video and song, directed by Diane Martel (the woman behind “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” for Keys) and it’s nice to see Keys be so open and vulnerable. And not to be a Debbie Downer, but was anybody else thinking she looked adorable with the big hair? Sorry, I just kind of miss it. And on another style note, I was loving the black jumpsuit, and shout out to trainer Jeanette Jenkins who has Keys’s arms looking so very toned and awesome these days. But now that you know what I think about the clip (and other random things I noticed about it), check it out for yourself and share your opinions below. Thanks!

Jeanette Jenkins Is Ready To Whip You Into Shape With New TV Show
We’ve seen the celebrity bodies Jeanette Jenkins is responsible for (Serena Williams, Paula Patton, Kimora Lee Simmons) and just from looking at the abs on Kelly Rowland, when I hear news of a show with this woman whipping everyday people into shape, all I can think is, yes please!
“The Hollywood Trainer” has inked a deal with BET (and Akil productions) for a new nationally syndicated show where she will help regular people get fit and give them a head-to-toe makeover after they put in the work.
“You’re going to see the whole transformation in one show,” Jeanette Jenkins said in an interview with AllHipHop. “Ordinary people out there are going to have an opportunity to train with the Hollywood trainer and will get the opportunity to get treated like stars.”
The cool thing is the show is in the pre-production stage right now and Jeanette will be choosing several contestants from her twitter page, @jeanettejenkins, so get to tweeting. Not only will participants have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get in shape with a celebrity trainer, they might meet a few famous people too.
“I’m going to have a few celebrity drop-ins every once in a while, but this show is really about the people,” Jeanette said. “Showing them how they can change their lives with just what they have in their own homes and in their own environment.”
Sounds like a keeper to me. Will you watch (or tweet for a chance to be on it)?

Get Kelly Rowland’s Washboard Abs with New Workout DVD
Kelly has always had amazingly toned abs and now she has a workout DVD to show (some of us) how to get them too.
In the collaboration between the songstress and Hollywood trainer Jeanette Jenkins, the pair talks through the importance of proper form to avoid back injuries, then pushes through a number of strengthening and lengthening core muscle exercises. Kelly’s physique definitely serves as great ‘Motivation’ throughout the entire workout.
Check out the sneak peek of the workout below and tell us what you think. The DVD will be available starting Dec. 15. Is this on your Christmas list?

7 Black Body Trainers Capitalizing On The $17 Billion Fitness Market
As the obesity rate continues to rise in this country, the market for health and fitness has evolved into an industry estimated to be worth $17.6 billion. African American adults have the highest obesity rates at 37 percent among men and nearly 50 percent among women. With alarming rates such as these, more Black fitness stars are devising innovative ways for people to get off the couch and burn calories while having fun. Here are seven of the best bodies and business models among African American fitness gurus:
Billy Blanks
While working out in his basement in 1976, martial artist Billy Blanks accidentally developed what would later become known to the world as Tae Bo, an aerobic routine that incorporates martial arts, boxing and dance. After opening the Billy Blanks World Training Center in Sherman Oaks in 1989, word traveled about the infectious workout, bringing in celebrity clients such as Paula Abdul. Blanks introduced the first Tae Bo workout video in 1998 and within a year, had sold 1.5 million video sets. Although competition has tempered the popularity of the Tae Bo DVDs now-a-days, it remains one of the top selling workout regiments. Banks now lives in Japan where in 2007, he reportedly sold more than $130 million worth of merchandise, including more than a million copies of his ‘Billy’s BootCamp’ series.
