Pass Or Play? Janet Jackson Is Officially Back (And Looking Like ’93 Janet) In “No Sleeep” Clip Feat. J. Cole
Janet is back and looking like vintage Janet. As in, 1993 “That’s The Way Love Goes” Janet Jackson.
In the video for her new single for her upcoming album (her first in five years), Jackson makes her official comeback looking fresh faced and gorgeous as always. But what makes her comeback much different from other pop stars is that Jackson decided to go the laid back, I’m-going-to-keep-my-clothes-on route and still killed it. No skimpy outfits or body suits. No ab shots. Not even a dance sequence or two. Just Jackson moving around a plush home with images from her childhood plastered on the walls. It’s not what you are expecting, and that’s what makes it all the more interesting. We all get the reminder we need that less is more.
But then again, “No Sleeep” isn’t your ordinary comeback single. It’s mellow and smooth (or as Maxwell would title it, “mellowsmoothe”). One of those songs you two-step to on a nice night out (or in) with your honey. And while the original track was cool, the album version, with a clever as ever verse from rapper J. Cole, is what makes it a worthy jam. Cole even makes an appearance in the video, waxing poetically all over the luxurious home as the rain pours. The visual is directed by Dave Meyers, and when it dropped today, Jackson tweeted “I hope u enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it.”
The song will appear on Jackson’s upcoming 11th studio album, set to drop in September. Before then, the legend will hit the road for her “Unbreakable” world tour, scheduled to start on August 31 in Vancouver.

And social media users wasted no time expressing their disapproval. However, the network went along with the tribute anyway. Miss Janet even made an appearance to accept the award and she looked absolutely amazing.
