By day, they are actors, but by night these 15 male stars could be seen on the small screen moonlighting as one-time video vixens.
Terrence Howard has been working in front on the cameras playing different roles since 1992’s Jacksons: An American Dream. He may be best known for hit movies such as Crash and Hustle & Flow but he also has a few music video roles under his belt. In Ashanti’s “Foolish,” Howard plays her criminal minded ex who gets caught cheating. The video earned three MTV VMA nominations in 2002. Howard also played opposite Mary J. Blige in her “Be Without You” video where she just couldn’t be without him.

King Bey has sparked a resurgence on a higher level of expressing female sexuality in music — specifically black women’s sexuality. And since we’re dedicated to black women, we thought it be cool to highlight female artists who have explicitly expressed themselves sexually in their music to much controversy and praise. Regardless of how critics debate it, these female artists didn’t promote unsafe sex, but they promoted exploring your sensual side, which men are privileged and praised to do without the double standard.
Here’s to celebrating female sexual empowerment with these iconic pop divas and 15 moments in pop culture history.
The Super Bowl is Sunday and MadameNoire has collected the best, worst and ugly of the most talked about portion of the broadcast (outside of commercials) — the Halftime show. Bruno Mars might be crooning the ladies Sunday night, but female artists have taken the stage by storm too. Here are 15 significant female entertainers who performed during the Super Bowl spectacle over the last 25 years.
It’s not surprising at all that the late, great Michael Jackson (and his sister Janet) topped Business Insider‘s list of having the costliest music video of all time — Scream (1996). With a funky wardrobe, a futuristic spaceship, and black and white visuals, Scream cost a whopping $7 million!
But as I scrolled through the list, I was shocked that the King of Pop’s Thriller – arguably one of the most spectacular music videos ever — was absent. Diddy’s Victory (1998), not nearly as memorable and enduring as Thriller, made the list and cost $2.7 million! Clearly dropping excessive amounts of cash on a video doesn’t necessarily mean it will resonate with the public.
So this brings up a new question: Which videos have a low budget, but made a huge impact on the musical landscape? On the flip side, which videos cost an arm and a leg, but were mediocre at best? Let’s find out!
Celebrity hair trends come and go. Sometimes styles that seemed like a good idea in the moment quickly become a cringe-worthy reminder of a very particular time and place. But other times, celebrities who take a hair plunge emerge as newly-minted style icons. And the latest track to beauty icon status? The pixie cut. It definitely takes quite a pair of cojones to chop off long, luscious locks, but these celebrities were certainly rewarded with quite a pay off for their risk. Here are our favorite pixie-haired celebs.
When a Hollywood couple makes the hard choice to split up, most of the times it’s the wife who walks away practically set for life. However, these 15 famous women were forced to cough up the alimony when the marriage was over.
Britney Spears shocked the world by marrying her childhood friend during a night of partying in Las Vegas. That union was quickly annulled and Spears found herself walking down the aisle months later, this time to her backup dancer, Kevin Federline. Her second marriage lasted a bit longer — three years — and for his time as Mr. Britney Spears, Federline received $40,000 a month in alimony. Federline is reportedly content to remain a single man in order to continue cashing in his monthly checks. Federline was originally awarded custody of their two boys but after Spears took some time off to work on personal issues, they now share joint custody.

Going under the knife in Hollywood has never been anything new. While some are open and honest with the work they’ve had done, other celebrities try to deny it ’til their death. Despite evidence showing otherwise, these celebrities have denied having plastic surgery.
Viewers instantly fell in love with NeNe Leakes and her bold personality when Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality show premiered in 2008. The sudden rise in popularity also caused a rise in her bank account and soon NeNe was debuting a brand new look. After first copping to getting some pearly white veneers, the “Glee” co-star revealed all of the work she had done, including a nose job, liposuction, breast reduction and breast lifting. So when she appeared on Bethenny Frankel’s show last month, NeNe had viewers scratching their heads by denying she had any plastic surgery. Frankel herself had to get up and perform her own inspection to see if NeNe was telling the truth or not.
Janet Jackson is going to be a mama! Well, maybe. According to US Weekly, the singer and her new husband, Wissam Al Mana, are reportedly ready to start a family and they’re thinking about adopting to do it.
A source told the tabloid that Janet, who is now 47, is “quietly” looking into the process of adopting a child from a third-world country, saying:
“She now pretty much knows pregnancy is not in the cards, so she’s been looking into adopting. She’s been very moved by the events in Jordan and Syria now that she’s been living overseas. Not sure how soon it will happen, but there’s been movement on this.”
Page Six has a bit of a different take on the rumor, reporting that a family member told them “it’s going to happen and real soon,” with an additional source weighing in with:
“Janet has always been concerned about the welfare of the world’s children and it’s important to her that she affords a baby the opportunities that have been afforded her.”
Their sources also say the pop star, who has remained in remarkable shape over the years, hasn’t totally ruled out pregnancy just yet, which isn’t totally surprising considering her Hollywood cohorts are popping out babies at around the same age. Still, it’s worth questioning the legitimacy of these reports, as there isn’t exactly a strong track record of accuracy when it comes to reporting on Janet and Wissam. Remember all the hoopla earlier this year about the couple planning an extravagant wedding, only to find out they had secretly wed last year? Janet’s own family didn’t even know about the wedding so it would be surprising for news as big as this to fall through the cracks. But, if the Al Manas are indeed thinking about adopting, good luck to them on starting a family!

Whether they’re rapping too fast or singing too low, we can never understand what these entertainers are saying once they get behind the mic. We still love them, of course, but we’d just like to know what exactly they’re saying on a track every once in a while .
