We were pretty shocked to learn that Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe were selected to partake in the Janet Jackson Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award tribute. And social media users wasted no time expressing their disapproval. However, the network went along with the tribute anyway. Miss Janet even made an appearance to accept the award and she looked absolutely amazing.
Everyone loves a good comeback. And over the past year, we’ve been blessed with the return of D’Angelo and Janet Jackson. Check out these 15 musical acts who have had some of the greatest comebacks ever!
By now you probably heard, Janet Jackson has resurfaced and has a planned tour and album ahead. Jackson herself made the news public. She tweeted a hint and directed followers to her website. But did you know Janet is also planning to launch her own label?
Her record label, Rhythm Nation Records, would be established through a partnership with music giant BMG and it will also be on the lookout for up-and-coming artists to sign to the roster, reports The Boombox.
“Thank you to the talented team at BMG, my new artistic home,” Jackson said in a statement. “The opportunity to be creative in music and every form of entertainment has great potential here.”
“The worldwide partnership with Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation will see the release in Fall 2015 of her first as-yet-untitled album and a commitment to pursue the full range of options within the broader Bertelsmann group of which BMG is part. With Rhythm Nation Janet Jackson becomes arguably the first female African-American recording artist to form her own record label. At Rhythm Nation Janet plans to offer a home to both new and established recording artists,” reads the statement.
Janet’s new single should “hit radio and/or online within 30 days,” reports Radio Facts. This will be her first album since 2008’s Discipline, and her 11th studio album.
Jackson, who began her entertainment career at the age of seven, has had sales of more 160 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time.

And just like that, Ms. Jackson is finally back.
The legendary singer announced some major news early Saturday morning/late Friday night. Jackson tweeted a video of the inside of a studio, with her voice in the background. We hear her say, “I promised you’d hear it from my lips, and now you will,” she says in the narration. “This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement.”
Yes, you read that correctly. Janet officially confirmed she will release new music this year! Let the church say AMEN. We’re so ready to see what her new movement and world tour will look like. Janet was and still is one of the greatest icons of our time. Welcome back Janet!
It’s the job of artists to entertain us, but these stars took things to the next level. The 10 artists included on this list have done everything: offering their fans lap dances, letting them cop a feel, and even kissing them in front of thousands of people. That’s one hell of a way to say thank you for the support! We don’t know how eager we would be to get so close to these stars, but if the fans like it, then I guess we love it…
If you didn’t know, Ms. Jackson does this. The Velvet Rope Tour anyone? Janet Jackson has been seducing her male fans and making their fantasies come true for years. The music legend doesn’t see anything wrong with a little bump and grind with her fans, and sometimes, as she did in this video, she sticks her tongue in their mouths…
Do you have a childhood nickname given to you by close family and friends? Sometimes such names are embraced, sometimes they’re loathed, sometimes they’re super random, and other times, they are used to describe you, or the way you look. The following stars on this list all are known by those close to them as something very interesting, and after doing some digging, I thought it would be fun to share some of those monikers with you.
Before he was 2 Chainz, the “I’m Different” rapper was seriously out here going by his childhood nickname: Tity Boi.
“I want to explain this—I wish I could put this on a billboard. Tity Boi is not derogatory towards women, I didn’t make it up, I didn’t get it from a titty-sucking contest or anything like that. The name Tity Boi actually came from my big mama, from me being spoiled and an only child—breastfed. My mama called me Tity Boi, my dad called me Tity Man, my hood called me Tit so when we was trying to rap I had been going by Tit my whole life, Tit, Tity, Tity Man —it’s just like a country nickname —term for being an only child.”
Last time we can actually recall seeing Janet Jackson out and about at an event, it was in May 2013 at amfAR’s 20th Annual Cinema Against Aids event in France.
If you’ll recall, Jackson married billionaire Wissam Al Mana in 2012, and despite reports that they tied the knot in lavish fashion, last year the couple issued a joint statement for the first time to let fans know that everything was small, and while there were gifts, they were given to children in need.
“Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy.”
From there, the couple were spotted partaking in “celebration and joy” on yachts and flying around the world, enjoying their new life together. Happily married, Jackson has been out of the public eye for a little while, but we were glad to see her back out this past weekend.
The beauty and her husband stepped out on Halloween night for the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience (obviously in Dubai) and Jackson, looking a little different, was gorgeous while sporting a whip-worthy ponytail. Go, Janet! Now, if we could just get some new music sometime soon, that would be amazing…

Beyoncé Dresses Up As “Rhythm Nation” Janet Jackson; And Why Are Folks Dressing Up As Blue Ivy? [Pics]
Well, look who is in the Halloween spirit! After dressing up as an angel for last year’s Halloween festivities (and dressing Blue Ivy up as a bumblebee), Beyoncé decided to pay homage and have a little more fun with this year’s costume. Bey stepped out in full Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation mode–key earring, identical hat and vest, all black everything. She wore this cool ensemble to last night’s Powerhouse concert at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, which was held by Power 105 (home of the Breakfast Club). She watched husband, Jay Z, take the stage.
Jay hit the stage briefly to perform alongside Young Jeezy (they did their song, “Seen It All”) and also put on a costume of sorts. He showed off a Jason Voorhees mask, which he wore backwards for most of the night.
And can we mention that someone has decided to dress up as the couple’s daughter, Blue Ivy? And no, it’s not a child…
Celebrities (and everyday people) are already pulling out and putting on some very fun and kooky costumes, so it’s looking like it’s going to be a very interesting Halloween.
Stealth is important when it comes to most celeb weddings, unless you’re the #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple and you want everyone to know about your grossly overpriced wedding. But aside from Kimye, these celebrity couples have gone to great measures to keep details of their nuptials a secret, doing everything from eloping in Vegas, to hiding away in the Bahamas.
Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation 1814” is celebrating its 25th anniversary today. And MadameNoire compiled a list of secrets about the making of the legendary album, which balanced socially-conscious messages and relationship ills. As the follow up to her mainstream breakthrough, “Control,” this groundbreaking album continued Jackson’s journey of breaking down barriers for
Black female entertainers — including having the most popular tour by a debut artist ever, “The Rhythm Nation World Tour.” It was a turning point in Jackson’s career. She went from a pop star to a pop icon — comparable to her brother Michael Jackson and Madonna’s iconic status.
We bet you didn’t know the album was the most popular album of 1990, is the only album that had seven top five hits on Billboard Hot 100 and is the only album to have number one pop hits in three calendar years. “Miss You Much” peaked at number one in 1989; “Rhythm Nation” at number two in 1989; “Escapade” secured the number one spot in 1990; “Alright” peaked at number four in 1990; “Come Back to Me” was number two in 1990; “Black Cat” peaked at number one in 1990; and “Love Will Never Do (Without You)” clutched number one in early 1991.
