Stealth is important when it comes to most celeb weddings, unless you’re the #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple and you want everyone to know about your grossly overpriced wedding. But aside from Kimye, these celebrity couples have gone to great measures to keep details of their nuptials a secret, doing everything from eloping in Vegas, to hiding away in the Bahamas.

Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation 1814” is celebrating its 25th anniversary today. And MadameNoire compiled a list of secrets about the making of the legendary album, which balanced socially-conscious messages and relationship ills. As the follow up to her mainstream breakthrough, “Control,” this groundbreaking album continued Jackson’s journey of breaking down barriers for
Black female entertainers — including having the most popular tour by a debut artist ever, “The Rhythm Nation World Tour.” It was a turning point in Jackson’s career. She went from a pop star to a pop icon — comparable to her brother Michael Jackson and Madonna’s iconic status.

We bet you didn’t know the album was the most popular album of 1990, is the only album that had seven top five hits on Billboard Hot 100 and is the only album to have number one pop hits in three calendar years. “Miss You Much” peaked at number one in 1989; “Rhythm Nation” at number two in 1989; “Escapade” secured the number one spot in 1990; “Alright” peaked at number four in 1990; “Come Back to Me” was number two in 1990; “Black Cat” peaked at number one in 1990; and “Love Will Never Do (Without You)” clutched number one in early 1991.

Another day, another big accolade coming Beyoncé’s way.

According to Rolling Stone, ‘Yoncé will pick up this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. For those who don’t know, the award is something of a Lifetime Achievement Award for artists who have had an impact on MTV’s culture. It’s been given to directors (Hype Williams picked up one in 2006 for example) as well as musicians whose videos and work have transformed the way people watch music videos and watch MTV in general. Considering that her visual album from December was a huge success, I guess it makes sense that she would be the next artist to be honored. Justin Timberlake picked up the award last year and put on a pretty epic performance that included ‘N Sync reuniting, and a medley of all his solo hits. With that in mind, I’m sure Beyoncé will put on quite the show. Other Vanguard winners include Jackson of course (the award, once just the “Video Vanguard Award” was renamed after him in 1991), Janet Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, LL Cool J, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and more.

On top of picking up that award, the singer is also the most nominated artist for this year’s awards ceremony. She is nominated for eight awards, including Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love” with her husband, Jay Z. This will be her first time at the show since she revealed to the world that she was pregnant with Blue Ivy back in 2011.

The show will take place on August 24, 9/8 c.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I’ve been harboring a deep desire to dance.  Every since my aunt Annette made my sisters and I watch a VHS of all of Michael Jackson’s music videos up until “Smooth Criminal” when we were children, I have loved everything that is choreographed and put to music.

However, I’m a little shy to dance on a stage… in front of a crowd… with eyes watching me.  So, I dance in private, while practicing these popular music videos with amazing choreography. And if I was a betting person, I would bet you have too (or at least marveled at them).  Which videos you ask?

Mike Tyson

Like a lot of other inmates who learn about Islam while being incarcerated, “Iron” Mike Tyson converted behind bars. The heavyweight-boxing champ was serving prison time after he was found guilty of raping former beauty queen Desiree Washington. After serving his time, Tyson continued to practice his new faith. In 2010, he made the holy pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia and shared the experience with his followers on Twitter: “I just left the Holy City of Mecca where I was blessed to have been able to make Umrah…Inshallah (God willing), Allah will continue to bless me to stay on the straight path.”

A whole cluster of entrepreneurs have added an extra zero to their net worth. Due to a few smart investments and well-played business moves, these people have now moved on up. Must be nice to be among the Gates, Winfreys, and Bloombergs.

Michael Jordan, as you may already know, has been initiated into the Billionaire Boys Club — thanks to his increased stake in the Charlotte Hornets. But who else has moved on up lately? MadameNoire Biz has got the scoop!

Women often get the side-eye these days when they seek large divorce settlements and support (including child) payments from their famous exes (or fling-partners in some cases), but in Hollywood, men often do the same thing. Here are 10 men who tried to come for the pockets of their former partners, and quite a few who walked away with millions when their highly publicized relationships ended.

Janet Jackson’s Ex-Husband, Rene Elizondo

In 2000, Rene Elizondo filed for divorce from Janet Jackson after eight years of marriage, which they kept a secret from the press and even from her crazy father, Joe Jackson. Elizondo went for as much as he could get, including profits from the Rhythm Nation album, property he claimed they were supposed to divide, and basically, any assets she acquired after their relationship began back in ’87. Reports claim that in the end, Elizondo walked away with $10 million.

Hype Williams has been making music videos since the early 90’s. With budgets that rivaled independent movies, Williams has worked with everyone in the game from The Notorious B.I.G. to Beyonce. Here’s a look at some of the 15 best Hype Williams music videos

The Notorious B.I.G. – “Big Poppa”

The Notorious B.I.G. made waves with his first single “Juicy” but it was his second single “Big Poppa” that really helped put the Brooklyn emcee on the map. Set inside of a brownstone with a club-type atmosphere, Biggie said his rhymes while party-goers danced and others gambled over a game of dice. There were plenty of cameos in the video as well, including Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Busta Rhymes, Heavy D and of course Sean “Puffy” Combs, who was there in a hot tub full of women along with his then-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim.
