I’ve noted before that I’m usually behind on what’s going on in celebrity drama news, but when I found this all out, a little vein in my forehead started to throb due to annoyance.
In 2010, transgender model Sidney Star told multiple media outlets that she had a sexual encounter with St. Louis rapper, Chingy. In an interview, she describes how she was a backup dancer at a venue he and Ludacris performed at, and afterward he was sizing her up. They went to his hotel room, talked, and right before anything happened she explained to him that she used to be a man. She claimed that his response to that revelation was: “I don’t care. I want that. I want that.” Then they slept together and had an “off and on” relationship for two years. There were photos of the two backstage from the performance that was used to validate her claims.
When Chingy learned of the rumors, he immediately denied the claims saying that when a fan approaches him for a photo, he’s not going to turn them down, and that he never did anything more with Star than take a picture with her.
For two years this information has been tagged behind his name, so much so that even when Sidney was involved with other stories, she’d still be tagged as: ”Chingy’s tranny…”
On July 25th, 2012, Sidney Star recorded a video of herself admitting that she had lied about the entire fiasco. She never slept with Chingy, never told him about her sexual change, never really talked to him besides asking him to take a picture with her. She cited her young age of 23 and the fact that no one pays attention to a transgendered individual and that she wanted some attention as excuses for what she did.
Now, I appreciate a person telling the truth, it takes a lot of courage to admit that you lied about something and risk the requisite backlash, but… really? The first thing that immediately popped into my mind was: “Was your notoriety and infamy worth sullying someone else’s name?”
