Before they were Academy Award nominees and winners, television stars, business magnates, singers, muses, activists and more, these celebrities were trying to just make it. Whether that means just trying to find their path and what they love to do, trying to model, or trying to be taken seriously in Hollywood, they were working MAD hard. Time has passed and their notoriety and fame is at its height, making them icons in their respective fields, but the photos from their early years and their life before the huge fame are still around. If the President is lacking anything, it’s not a sense of humor. Yesterday, veteran actress Betty White celebrated her 90th birthday and President Obama took time to send her a birthday card (in a pre-recorded tape.)  He had plenty of well wishes for the woman even though he doubted her actual age and asked for proof.

We love diversity. It’s the way the world should be; but, as we know, it doesn’t exist in every situation. No where is this more evident than in the media. And while diversity is the ideal, just because a show lacks it, doesn’t always equate to a complete failure. Another one of our beloved “Golden Girls” has passed as of 1am this morning (June 3). Rue McClanahan, widely known as the sex-crazed “Blanche Devereaux,” passed away at the New York Presbyterian Hospital of a stroke.
