With the exception of Brooke Bailey and Laura Govan, the cast of Basketball Wives: LA appeared to be pretty much through with Gloria Govan-Barnes by the time the highly anticipated reunion show rolled around. Malaysia Pargo even suggested that the outspoken aspiring actress exit stage left, claiming that Govan frequently behaved as if she was so above the show and so much better than her cast mates. Hip Hollywood recently caught up with Govan at the premiere of The Call. During the brief interview, Glo expressed that although there has been no word indicating whether or not the LA spinoff will be returning for another season, she has no interest in continuing as a part of the ”Basketball Wives” franchise.

“We haven’t been picked up for a third season yet, so I’m not really sure where we are with it. But, I’m really excited about the upcoming projects Matt and I have going on. When push comes to shove, when the time is right, I think it’ll be about time I leave that show anyway. I probably most likely will not be on Basketball Wives: LA again. So we [Matt and I] have some really cool and exciting stuff that will be wrapping up this week, so definitely look out for that.”

Govan’s husband Matt Barnes acted as her hype-man during the interview, obviously happy that his wife is making plans to bid the VH1 series adieu. It’s been no secret that Matt wasn’t exactly approving of Gloria’s participation on the show or her cast members. We can’t say for sure exactly what projects Gloria are Matt are working on, but we’re sure that we’ll be hearing about them in coming weeks. It would be somewhat interesting to see how Laura interacts with the cast without her sister.

“She Knows What’s Up:” Gloria Goes In On Bambi, Shaunie, And Evelyn’s BBWLA Backlash

“Basketball Wives LA” star Gloria Govan has been catching a lot of heat since the airing of part one of the reunion show from fans , co-stars and even executive producer Shaunie O’neal. In an exclusive interview with Necole Bitchie Gloria opened up about Shaunie and Evelyn’s response to her “If if weren’t for me, Basketball Wives LA wouldn’t exist” comments as well as Bambi’s accusations that she had been loving on rapper The Game and his crew. Check out some of what she had to say.

On Shaunie and Evelyn’s response to her “I’m the reason there’s a spinoff comment”:

“To Shaunie, she didn’t have anything directly to say, she kind of jumped on the bandwagon because she knows what’s up. In terms of Evelyn she needs to stay in her lane, I understand she’s on Shaunie’s side no matter what because that’s her home girl. Evelyn out of all people should understand how spinoff’s work”

“I knew if I had to respond to really anybody I was going to have to go into full length conversations, so I just left it all alone (on twitter). That’s how I felt about Evelyn, like girl you of all people need to stop talking, I don’t know if that headbutt got you all delusional or what but she knows what’s up.”

On Bambi accusing her of “getting around”:

“It’s really frustrating because they didn’t allow my response to Bambi be aired.  Bambi is not a cast member, she is not even on the opening credits, she’s just Malaysia’s friend.”

“It’s just really sh-tty to have someone lie on you, and then not be able to defend yourself or correct yourself to the point where people believe you. Its like the first person to the finish line kind of thing, like no matter how you get there, I think that whoever says some bullsh-t first is what people are going to believe. And rappers of all people, they lie on their package. I don’t mean to be vulgar. And Matt and Game were friends you know, so that was even more like damn that was a low blow. And it was frustrating to hear it from Bambi too because first and foremost I have never seen you a day in my life, ever, like I didn’t even know you existed before you came on this show. And so for her to be like “I saw her” you didn’t see me nowhere. I don’t even kick it, I don’t even know how to tell you how to get to Compton. So for her to take these fake-A$$ Compton rumors and try to make them relevant, is what’s really more frustrating. Even beyond that, that’s why I’m a prime example of why you don’t get on the producers bad side because they took this one little thing and just gave her a platform, just because your mad at me don’t try to water down my name.”

On if she’ll be returning to the show next season:

“No, I don’t think so. I think at this point I want to kind of branch out in terms of what I want to be doing next season and I don’t agree with the direction the show is going. There is more and more women on there, and I have the upmost respect for Bambi, my sister and Jackie. I just feel like the direction of the show is becoming more of a Bad Girls Club, then it is a Basketball Wives show.”

What is interesting however, is that The Game at some point did allude to having slept with Gloria and Matt openly stated that she cheated on him as well. Either way I suppose none of that matters now since Matt and Gloria are now happily married and whatever went down they seem to have put it behind them.

What do you think of Gloria’s response to the drama? Will you be sad to see her go if she doesn’t return next season?

Tell Us How You Really Feel: Brooke Says Draya Screwing Chris Brown Doesn’t Make Her A Model

December 11th, 2012 - By Jazmine Denise Rogers

Source: WENN

If you’ve been watching the last few episodes of “Basketball Wives LA” or even part one of the reunion show last night, you’ve noticed how Brooke basically went from a neutral party on the show to being all buddy-buddy with the Govan sisters and at odds with just about everyone else. Brooke recently called up Street Disciplez Radio to share how she really felt about her co-stars so there wouldn’t be any confusion and I think she made her stance crystal clear with these cutthroat things she had to say. Check out the highlights:

Bambi:

“She’s delusional. I never had a situation with her, she had one with me, and she never really confronted me about it.”

Jackie:

“I really beat her a**. It got so real to where I blacked out; I remember her kicking me. After that, I don’t remember anything until security was trying to get me up off of her. But you know what, I have to give Jackie props because out of all the girls that I pressed and confronted about little sneaky isht or the shade they was trying to throw, she was the only b***h that stood up and said ‘this is what I’m saying.’ She never backed down from what she was saying, so I kind of respect her for that.”

Draya:

“I always felt that Draya was a fun girl. She’s never been a model, she’s never my competition in the industry. Whatever she does, that’s her business, and I respect however she gets her money, that’s cool. But what I can’t respect is if you want to pop your collar, that’s cool, but B***h, don’t try to un-pop mine…

“She’s done modeling, but the basis of her career started from her f***ing Chris Brown. When you’re dating a rapper, of course you’re going to be in other people’s videos or their videos because that’s what you’re around. It doesn’t mean that you’re a model, it doesn’t mean that. She’s never had to audition, she’s never had to do the things that I’ve done to build my career. She didn’t have to learn protocol. That’s why when it came to business, she f****d up”

Malaysia:

“She’s fake as f**k, and that’s how I feel to this day.”

Basketball Wives LA” cast members and sisters, Gloria and Laura Govan, were in a festive mood by hosting a Toy Drive Thursday (12/6/12) night in Downtown Los Angeles.  The drive benefits the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children, also based in Los Angeles.

Gloria explained why she got involved with this cause:

“It’s really a great institute and to be able to give back to the community especially right here in our own backyard is such an important cause to us.  We would love to see every child go home this Christmas with a gift.”

Gloria Govan Pulls Shaunie’s Producer Card: If You Were A Real Producer Would My Sister Be On The Show?

November 28th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Gloria Govan still isn’t over Shaunie O’Neal’s Twitter trash talking about cutting the cast of Basketball Wives LA. During a recent interview with Just Jonesy, the former Miami basketball wife and supposed star of the LA spinoff pretty much pulled Shaunie’s producer card, suggesting she’s all talk and no action when it comes to cutting people from the cast because she basically has no control over her show at all — as expected.

Here’s what she said:

Shaunie “created” the show, so she’s just kind of been thrown on as executive producer for anything basketball wives, football wives…that’s her thing.

It’s kind of funny that she’s says that because I’m like, really, if you were an active producer on the show would you really have my sister of all people on the show? If I didn’t like you I’m not going to put you on my show.

Confused? The story behind that is Laura was basically sleeping with Shaq while Shaq was married to Shaunie. So yeah, who would willingly give their ex-husbands sidepiece a paycheck?  Nobody I Know. Perhaps Shaunie should stop throwing out that producer card like it’s a badge of honor, or power rather, because it does make her look like a misguided pimp. Or hot ghetto mess as she said during her heart-to-heart with her pastor during the last episode of season 4.

Gloria did let on that she knows for sure there will be changes to the cast however, even if they aren’t Shaunie’s doing. The newlywed who married longtime boyfriend Matt Barnes over the summer claimed she wouldn’t be back for the next season — if there is a next season — telling Just Jonesy:

I feel like I’m kind of moving on, not to bigger things but just different stuff.

Good luck with that… see ya next season.

Check out the video from Gloria’s interview on the next page. What do you think about what she said about Shaunie? Do you think she really won’t be back?

I Learned My Lesson: Laura Speaks On Jackie Christie Backlash

November 16th, 2012 - By Jazmine Denise Rogers

Source: WENN

There has been a bit of controversy surrounding a few “Basketball Wives LA” cast members as a result of the last couple episodes of the show. Earlier this week, we reported a story on Chantel Christie, the daughter of Jackie Christie, opening up to her mom’s fellow cast member, Laura Govan, on national television about what life was like being raised by Jackie and sharing some pretty damaging family secrets that caused many to even further question Jackie’s mental stability. Of the most explosive information Chantel shared with Laura was about Jackie’s mistreatment of her older sister, Takari Lee Christie, because of her weight and darker complexion. Many of the cast members felt that Laura had crossed the line by asking to speak with Jackie’s daughters knowing that she didn’t exactly care for her. After the episode aired on Monday, many had no problem taking to Twitter and other social networks to express their disdain for Laura’s behavior.

In an exclusive interview with Vanessa Barnett of Hip Hollywood, Laura addressed the entire situation from the motives behind her two-faced ways to the reason why she was so adamant about speaking with her frenemy’s daughters in the first place. Check out what she had to say:

“I initially understood [the backlash]. Yeah, I got it. I get it and I got it from the girls. I knew it was coming. It’s funny when they say, ‘Oh, you’re two-faced,’ but then again, am I really because I don’t gossip. I just wanted her to feel the way that I felt. So it’s like when you think about it, who’s really two-faced?”

She went on to claim that all of her questionable antics regarding her and Jackie’s relationship were purely out of revenge. She also shared that she eventually had a change of heart after speaking with Chantel.

“It took away from my evil side. It made me realize what life was really about. It was a lesson, I got a lesson and I’m thankful for that lesson. That is the reality of the show. In real life I got a full lesson on the show.”

She also shared that she did not regret the way she treated Jackie claiming that the “lesson” she learned was worth her actions. We’re still waiting to find out what that lesson was, Laura. We’re also still wondering why you were vindictive enough to hit below the belt and go after someone’s child in the first place.

Check out footage of the interview below. How do you feel about Laura’s explanation?

Something In The Milk Ain’t Clean: Basketball Wives’ Gloria Govan Rumored To Be Sleeping Around (Again)

November 14th, 2012 - By Jazmine Denise Rogers
Share to Twitter Email This

Source: WENN

Man I don’t know what it is about the Govan women, but rumors of infidelity always seem to stick to them like flies to a horse… (excuse me). Our friends over at The YBF got the inside scoop on the “Basketball Wives LA” reunion show taping, which took place over the weekend and let’s just say, the newlywed Mrs. Govan-Barnes wasn’t depicted in the most  flattering light.

The way it’s being reported, Malaysia Pargo’s BFF and aspiring rapper, Bambi is the one who started pulling cards and attempted to expose Gloria for being a bit on the promiscuous side. In an effort to prove that she wasn’t just pulling these accusations out thin air, Bambi proceeded to expound on her “credibility,” stating that she “knows people in the hood” and that Govan is loving the crew and  has been rolling around in the sheets with multiple members of Black Wall Street, which is a Los Angeles based record label whom rapper The Game happens to be a part of.

If you remember back when Glo and Matt broke up back in 2011, Matt claimed that the reason the two split was because of Gloria’s infidelity. Barnes’ accusations were followed up by cryptic tweets from The Game, which many felt were an indicator that he was the guy Govan had been caught cheating with. Considering what has gone down in the past, these new accusations don’t look so good Gloria. It is reported that Bambi was relentless calling the mom of two  a “straight Wh*r*”.

What is most interesting about this entire exchange is that mouth-all-mighty-tounge-everlasting Gloria who always seems to have something to say about everything under the sun simply responded with, “True or not True….I’m in love with Matt and nothing else matters.” There could be some validity to Bambi’s statements or she could be pulling a Nia Crooks and trying to make a an impact so that producers may consider taking her from a mere accessory character to a main character. Who knows?

Unfortunately for Gloria this wasn’t the only rumor making its way around the reunion set. According to The YBF, word on the street is that Gloria is also rumored to have allegedly been sleeping with her sister Laura’s fiance’, Gilbert Arenas, before the two hooked up and that is ultimately what put the strain on the sisters’ relationship that we witnessed this season.

One can only hope that these rumors are not true.

Confusion On The BBWLA Set: Gloria Knows Why She’s Fired, Brooke Says She’s Not Going Anywhere

November 2nd, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Over the weekend, news broke that that “complete makeover” Shaunie alluded to for the “Basketball Wives LA” cast was pretty much a go. Producers were reportedly said to be firing Gloria and Laura Govan, Malaysia Pargo, and Brooke Bailey, keeping the crazy that is Jackie Christie, Draya, and cast newbie Bambi for good measure.

By now, the news, of course, has reached the cast members and two of them seem to have very different reactions to the pink slip rumor. Confirming the report that she was getting fired over her secret summer wedding, Gloria seems to not be shocked at all by this information. Brooke, on the other hand, is crying BS.

TMZ caught up with Gloria to ask how she felt about the news and she said:

“I kind of had a feeling because producers and I weren’t really on the same page from the get-go…

“It was a conscious decision not to put my relationship out there since day one and I guess my real life wasn’t as exciting as it was supposed to be.”

At least she knows she’s boring. As far as VH1 producers being mad they weren’t invited to tape the wedding, Gloria said “There were a lot of people who weren’t invited.” Interestingly, Gloria says the network has been sending out constant emails telling cast members they aren’t actually fired but she figures that’s just a ploy to get the ladies to attend the reunion and cause drama more than 1 million people would be interested in watching. So far she hasn’t decided whether she’s down for that or not.

In video vixen land, Brooke Bailey has a totally different take on this rumor. In an interview with Hip Hollywood she simply said of the news:

“If they weren’t rumors talking about me then I wouldn’t be doing my job right. I mean, it’s a rumor. I’m definitely confident that I’ll be returning for anything that I wanna return to.”

Translation: If I’m fired I’ll be able to spin this and claim I just didn’t want to come back.

Meanwhile, VH1 has finally put out a statement on their blog, saying:

“The time has come to set the record straight. We can officially tell you all that despite the widespread reports, none of them are true. There have been absolutely no casting decisions made regarding the next season of the show.”

Hmmm. Perhaps Gloria should settle down then.

Laura Isn’t Worried About Getting Fired: “Shaunie Has Nothing To Do With ‘BBWLA’”

October 25th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Source: WENN

Last week, Shaunie O’neal, the so-called brainchild behind the “Basketball Wives” Miami and Los Angeles reality shows, hinted that she might be firing everyone on the LA cast considering their ratings are in the toilet. When a follower asked her to cancel the show on Twitter, Shaunie retorted with “how about a complete makeover?” i.e. getting rid of all those boring brawds and bringing in some new ladies so she could still get a paycheck.

Never one to hold her tongue, when Laura Govan heard that news she didn’t immediately trip — at least at the idea of bringing in some new faces. But what she does have a problem is Shaunie acting like she’s running things.

“I might say that I would agree with her,” Laura told Sister 2 Sister about the potential revamp. “A makeover is needed, but I don’t know to what extent.”

About that shade though?

“If you gonna have your name stamped on something, you should definitely support it,” Laura added criticizing Shaunie’s response to her follower.

What’s worse is Laura says Shaunie is taking credit for something she doesn’t even have anything to do with, claiming “Basketball Wives LA” was actually her sister Gloria’s idea, saying:

“Shaunie has nothing to do with ‘BBWLA.’”

Getting back to that makeover idea though, Laura did have one suggestion for which direction the show should go in, should everyone get the axe.

“If it’s ‘Basketball Wives,’ then let’s hold this title,” she said. “At least have some basketball affiliation. At least keep it in the group, just have an affiliation. I’ve been with my guy 12 years, regardless of marriage or not. I’ve paid my dues. Give me some people who have paid their dues.”

“At the end of the day, the title is called ‘Basketball Wives,’ at least play basketball. Let’s not just have the groupies. Get that for another show. That could be the jump-off show.”

Says the woman who’s “guy” had a gag order against her for the entire first season of the show and maybe just got Gilbert Arenas to put a ring on it. Ohhh-taaay.

Thoughts?
