We’re finally coming to a close with the work week and before we get lazy because it’s about to be the freakin’ weekend, we of course had to take a moment to showcase some of the most colorful and attention-grabbing ensembles from the week. Sistahs were out and about in their leather pants, with their fur stoles and jackets, rocking metallic accessories and playful African prints. Could we finally go a week with no stops? We shall see…

Selita Ebanks

Red usually means stop, but looking vibrant in firetruck red, Selita Ebanks was a go! The former Victoria’s Secret Angel attended the 8th Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball at Cipriani in NYC doing the va-va voom thing in this strapless red gown with a gathered asymmetrical bodice that had a cascading ruffle around the waist. The dress also had a split that stopped at the thigh, and a dramatic train for added effect. She wore black pointed toe pumps and took with her a small black satin clutch. As you can see, her jewelry included a beaded drop necklace, and she brought along her favorite thing in the attempt to go Hollywood glamour and keep warm – some fur.

I think, for starters, that Selita’s makeup is gorgeous, and the hair is “flickin’” which is always a good thing. And I do find the dress to be very stunning, plus I like the mix of the black heel with the black clutch, but the necklace she could have saved for another day. Either way though, steal!

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: NeNe Leakes, Gabby Douglas & More!

Hope you’ve had a fashionable week, because the stars were out and about trying to start trends and stay off the “Worst Dressed” lists. Some succeeded, others? Not so much. Let’s take a minute and figure out if these ensembles are steal worthy or if it’s best that they never be duplicated and done again. Shall we?

NeNe Leakes

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and “New Normal” star stepped out for the TV Guide Hot List Party in West Hollywood in one of her usual form fitting ensembles and her signature blonde hair. She wore a polyester or possible nylon blend dress that she rocked off the shoulder, and the dress had long sleeves and hugged her around the hips and thighs. To accessorize, Leakes wore open-toe mule heels with pink and red feathers. She also walked out with a circular sparkly clutch, black rings, diamond and silver hoops, and had her signature bang flicking.

While I don’t think she looks bad, I’m kind of bored with the look. Plus, the shoes are horrific, but I do think the dress is a good look for her body shape. Plus, her makeup is pretty, so I’ll give it a pass. Steal.

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Halle Berry, Rihanna, Soul Train Awards Fashions & More!

Another week, but a lot more fashionistas with fly and forgettable fashions for you to see and pick apart. From Halle rocking velveteen in Berlin to Melanie Fiona looking retro in a lace minidress in Vegas, these ladies were very colorful and stylish this week. But whose look do you love and which do you loathe? Let’s go through and see…

WENN

Halle Berry

The stunning 46-year-old showed up to the Berlin premiere of her movie, Cloud Atlas, looking half her age in this velveteen dress with a side split, intricate draping and two different arms (one capped, one strapless). To accessorize, Halle wore strappy gray heels with silver cuffs and bangles, a large cocktail ring, as well as drop earrings with a fish bone design. The hair was in her signature pixie and the eyes were darkened to make her look pop.

Halle does it again! This look is very alluring yet sophisticated, and with that body and that hair, she’s killing the game. Steal!

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Tina Knowles, Jennifer Hudson And More!

Model Selita Ebanks showed up for the 29th Annual Fashion Group International Night of Stars event in NYC shimmering and shiny in this light blue metallic floor-length gown. The material on the dress was ruched and draped around her body, and around the waist was a wide band that sat above her sassy slit. She threw on strappy silver heels with a silver clutch, small chandelier earrings, a bold wine-colored lip and had a black fur in hand. While it’s a pretty dress, something about it isn’t flattering on her figure and it seems like a gown better suited for an older woman. Plus, the hair is a little blah. Pretty girl, but I’ll have to pass on this ensemble.

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Cassie, Halle Berry And More Get Embellished!

It’s fall! So away with the bright colors and let’s bring out all the clothing with character! That’s right, I’m talking about all things–dresses, jackets and more–that are embellished to the nines. These ladies got beaded and braided up in their ensembles this week, and the results? Well, that’s up to you and your fashion sense. Let’s proceed.

Diddy’s girl Cas-boogie showed up for Paper Magazine’s 8th Annual Nightlife Awards in NYC wearing this leather mini-dress that definitely turned heads. The leather Balmain shirtdress was embellished with ornate beading and stitching, a high collar. The gold, black and white combination was paired with strappy gold and black heels.  The hair was in a side ponytail that was bumped in the back (and made uber cute with a bang), and she accessorized with gold bangles and a watch. I absolutely love this look! And that includes the makeup and the hair (good to see that half-shaven ish finally being covered up). It’s a laid back type of outfit in the fact that it’s a simple shirtdress, but with the leather and all the ornaments, it works for the event. Steal!

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Keri Hilson, Solange And More!

Keri Hilson

Miss Keri baby is back! The pretty singer/songwriter attended the premiere for the Lifetime movie, Steel Magnolias, in NYC this week looking like a fancy ornament. Hilson arrived on the red carpet rocking a long-sleeved minidress covered in white, maroon, silver and dark blue sequins. To accessorize, she wore gold pumps, a satin blue clutch and a turquoise and gold necklace. Have to show love to the great haircut and bold red lip. But while she looks good, I’m not really a fan of the prints on this dress, and I feel like she could have done more with this look. I don’t know, if you’re going to go for the straightforward bodycon dress look, that dress has to have some pop! This doesn’t though…Regretfully, I say stop.

Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: June Ambrose, Solange Knowles & More Do It Big For NY Fashion Week

For the fierce and fashionable, it’s that time of the week again to tear apart or applaud some of the most eclectic style choices of the week. Yes, it’s Style to Steal or Girl, Stop time! Being that this was the last week of New York Fashion Week, we collected some interesting looks that we thought you’d want to see, get inspiration from, or stay far, far away from. Let’s get it started!

Solange Knowles was caught walking the streets of NYC trying to get to the Mercedes-Benz fashion week shows. For them, she was clearly trying to mix it up with her prints and have all eyes on her. We’re seeing dots, houndstooth, and leopard print. She paired a short sleeve top (with a pocket) with a high houndstooth skirt, and accessorized with leopard heels, a mustard yellow bag, a bright red lip and blown out strands. While I’m sure we’ll probably disagree, I’m actually a fan of the collection of prints that come together with her outfit. However, the hair is a no for me. I’m all for pressing out fros, but not like this. Yes on the ensemble though. What about you?

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Vivica A. Fox, Rita Ora, Brandy and More!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Style to Steal or Girl, Stop Fridays! Well, even if it’s not for you, we love ogling the fashion choices of some of our favorite sistahs. This week we saw an uptick in booties, and fall shades and colors were popping up all over the red carpets and sidewalks. Don’t believe me? Check out these ensembles and stars and let us know whose look you would steal and which ones you would stop.

Hey hey now! While you were somewhere at work focusing on your assignments or reading Madame Noire (*winks*), Vivica A. Fox was making her way to “Good Morning America” yesterday in NYC. She stepped on the concrete in a knee-length red Escada dress, a large black croc-embossed clutch and printed, peep-toe Louboutins. She even had her diva glasses on upon entrance, and kept the jewelry icy with long diamond earrings and a diamond ring. The Escada dress was a long-sleeved number with a wrap neckline and a slit above the chest. All in all, especially with this longer and darker wig, this is the best I think I’ve seen Viv look in a while. Plus, the outfit is just simply cute and would look good on anybody. Fresh faced and elegant in this look. Steal!

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Mariah Carey and Azealia Banks Bring Back Metallics & Jellies…And More!

It’s definitely been an interesting week in fashion I must say. Folks paired some interesting pieces together and weren’t afraid to be daring. I guess now that it’s summer everyone is going to leave behind their inhibitions. The results were both good and a lot of bad too. Let’s go through and see what you think is steal-worthy and what should have been stopped.

Rachel Roy is an amazing designer, I’ll give her that, but all the fashion sense she has doesn’t always translate to the outfits she wears on her own body. She wore this coffee-meets-beaver shade of brown Chloé jumpsuit to the screening of People Like Us by The Cinema Society in NYC. With its waist tie, gathered bust and puffed up sleeves, this should have been a winning summer look. But this jumpsuit seems to be a little too small for Roy in size while it’s too long in length (some heels would have helped instead of those black sandals). I can’t tell you if the front is supposed to be open under her bust, but that aspect looks a mess.  While her makeup, hair and jewelry are cute (that choker is HOT!), the outfit in general is too ill-fitting to work. It’s probably a steal on someone else, but on her? Not so much.

Style to Steal or Girl, Stop: Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Jessica Alba & More Stunt in London

Greetings Noirette stylistas and fashionistas! To be honest with you, this hasn’t been the most exciting week for fashion. For the most part, a lot of celebs flew overseas to London and thought they’d make their best fashion statements there. Most folks were caught out looking underwhelming, but these four celebrities wore fits that at least caught our eye and kept our attention. Time to figure out if they stood out for being hot or a hot mess. Let’s get started.

Hey hey now! Kelly Rowland attended the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London this week where she picked up a “Woman of the Year” accolade for being “Best TV personality.” She stunned on the red carpet in this black and white Maria Grachvogel dress. The halter dress was a sleek number that gave the singer/TV personality the chance to showcase her toned arms. She kept the hair straight and sleek as well, wore a simple bangle with a few rings and large hoops and showed folks how to do the statuesque look to a T. Loving the dress, loving the hair (though I probably would have worn it up), and she just looks all around fab. Check out the back too! Steal.
