It was just last year that Halle Berry and her ex, Gabriel Aubry, were in court battling over her desire to move their daughter, Nahla, to France. Of course, Berry is engaged to Olivier Martinez, and he is a native of France, which is one reason why she wanted to make to the move. However, Berry also claimed that she was hoping to head to Europe after feeling less and less safe in Los Angeles due to paparazzi interference at her daughter’s school and also because her former stalkers were released from jail in 2012 (one who had escaped from a psychiatric hospital was caught). But Aubry felt that her hope to move with their child was just an attempt to keep him away from his daughter. In the end, after a bitter physical altercation between Aubry and Martinez, and a judge telling her no to the idea of heading to France, both Berry and Aubry have come to a civil custody agreement, and the drama that was going on between them and all over the news last year has finally ceased. Well, as far as we can tell.

But Berry isn’t giving up on her plans to leave with her beau for France, the only change is that she will wait until Nahla is old enough to make her own decisions about where she wants to live before she moves away. In an interview with UK publication, HELLO! magazine, Berry set the record straight and says she probably won’t head to Europe until Nahla is 18 and is getting ready for college, but when she goes, that’s where she’ll stay:

When Nahla turns 18, she’ll be legally able to make her own decisions about where she wants to be and I think that then, when she’s off on her own, we’ll move there. It’s where I want to end my days, that’s for sure.”

She also says that her man, Martinez, has told her not to bother with trying to learn French now, because once she’s surrounded by French culture, things will come naturally.

I was told very lovingly by him not to work on it too hard now but to wait until we get to live there. Because for me, at my age and with all that I already have on my plate, trying to learn French is probably one of the hardest things I could possibly do. He thinks I’ll have an easier time when we’re living there and immersed in the culture – if we ever get to go that is.”

So until Nahla’s old enough to make up her own mind and go her own way, mother and daughter will be in LA. And if Martinez can wait 13 years, the actor and his gorgeous leading lady will be able to have the rendezvous’ in France they want for good. Until then…

All’s Fair In Love and Club Hopping?

July 27th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

So, some interesting pics have popped up of Chris Brown having a heck of a good time at club Gotha in Cannes. When I saw the candids on Necole Bitchie, I was like, oooh look at Chris snapping Karrueche’s neck like that. Wait, that’s not Karrueche. Then I saw him feeling up on another dark-haired girl’s behind and was like, Oh, there she is—wait that’s not her either. I figured the raven-haired, bikini clad chic he was grinding with wasn’t her, but after a few more clicks and an extended game of where’s Karrueche I found the R&B singer’s so-called girlfriend chilling by her man’s side smiling in her Herve Leger dress not breaking a sweat and I thought, Hmmm. That’s interesting.

Hitting the club with your girl is nothing knew. Even hitting the strip club with your girl and making it rain on them heauxs is becoming one of hip-hop’s favorite past times but there’s something quite different about looking and not touching when sliding a dollar into a dancer’s g-string, and rubbing down multiple girl’s bodies in front of everyone including your girlfriend of what, two years now? I’m not even going to contextualize this as a C Breezy thing because there’s no telling how much of this bumping and grinding he considered to be part of his image or pleasing the crowd after he gave a performance. My question is, could you have been Karrueche?

The club is such a dangerous breeding ground for relationships. Just about 99.9% of all people recommend that you don’t go to the club searching for a husband. I’ve always been iffy on that rule figuring if I’m a decent human being and I’m there, chances are another decent male counterpart could be there as well. But at the same time, the club’s not exactly a spot where you get chosen for your great personality. It’s an all-night battle of the T&A launched by men hoping to find a quick lay so yeah the likelihood of someone putting a ring on it after you met bent over touching the floor is slim to none. Even more dangerous the heading to the club single though, is a couple stepping out arm-in-arm. To an extent, both men and women are on the prowl for at least some attention from the opposite sex and if you don’t have some clear cut rules about what’s cool and what’s not before you buy that first vodka tonic, you’re night could go like Karrueche’s. You start out fanning your man and grinning by his side then somewhere along the lines you get the pouty face. Since Chris has a shirt on in that last pic it could either be his entrance or exit from the club that’s being captured. Judging by the sweat beads, I’ll say exit.

Looking at these two, I immediately thought back to my college days and how me and a guy I was talking to at the time would get into it nearly every week because we’d go out and dance way too hard with other people and both end up angry with attitudes. We weren’t even officially together, which means neither one of us had a right to be trippin’ like we were, and that’s also why I can’t understand how Karrueche does it. For most people boo’d up, the thrill of the club dies down for a few reasons after you lock it down with one person. If you go by yourself, seeing attractive mates you can’t pursue will be torture—or too tempting to resist which brings on a whole different set of problems. And If you go together, someone is bound to cross the line and turn the fun night out into a long argument on the ride home. I guess Chris and Karrueche don’t have those boundaries. If they did, ol’ boy didn’t just cross the line, he did a drunken back-flip and crunk danced all over it. I already had my doubts about the legitimacy of this relationship and how Karrueche could tolerate all of the non-stop rumors about Rihanna, but if he can get down like this with other women right in front of her, I’m thinking getting down with Ri Ri (if he wanted to) wouldn’t be a big deal. But I’m leaving that mess alone. My question is about him being a n**** in Paris. Would his behavior fly with you if you were his girl?

What are your rules about going to the club with your man?

‘Paris Is Burning’: Diddy ‘borrows’ title from documentary on NYC LGBT culture

From TheGrio.com

Rapper turned business mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has never been shy about his affinity for opulence. He’s been bragging about his bank roll for years (in songs like Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems”), and he even named his latest attempt at the next best thing in music Dirty Money. So it’s no surprise that the trend continues with his latest creative project, Paris Is Burning, a short documentary film about extravagance.

Diddy released the first trailer yesterday, shot by French director Julien Bachelet. The 1 minute clip follows the Ciroc owner through a maze of screaming paparazzi as he hops in and out of his limo to attend a fashion show, shop for Rolex watches, and simply enjoy the life his wealth affords him.

As he shops, he muses to the camera, “I’m fresh out the store, you see how we do it… collecting Rollies…. I’m a have over 100 Rollies within the next month.”

SMH: Woman Attempts to Smuggle Heroin as Baby Bump at JFK

March 5th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

It’s amazing the lengths people will go to to smuggle drugs—and still fail. A Nigerian woman who flew into JFK Airport in New York City from France this weekend was detained by a Border Protection inspector when something didn’t seem quite right with the way she was waddling around. Afolake Awoyemi claimed to be three months pregnant but the inspector ordered a pat-down search to check out her story and that’s when it all went downhill.

During the pat down, officers found a bulge in Afolake’s groin area—a bump that has nothing to do with being pregnant—and when they proceeded to do a strip search, all was revealed. As soon as the woman dropped her underwear, pellets containing brown powder began dropping from her groin area and the substance tested positive for heroin. That wasn’t the only place Afolake had a stash though, X-Rays revealed more heroin pellets in her intestine, which she was forced to pass into a toilet that sanitizes the drugs throughout the day.

A total of 25 pellets ended up coming out, which would have brought in $20,000 on the streets. But according to a spokesman, Afolake is small time. He said, “Experienced drug mules have swallowed up to 200 pellets containing drugs, indicating [Afolake] may have been on a maiden voyage.”

For now, the only voyage Afolake is on is to see a federal magistrate after recovering in a hospital this weekend. Just to be sure, the drug-smuggling passenger was given a pregnancy test while there. As expected, the test was negative.

Halle Berry Hoping to Move to France, and Of Course, Take Nahla With Her

February 9th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

It’s no secret Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are having a difficult time co-parenting their 3-year-old daughter, Nahla, but Halle has taken a page straight out of the bitter baby mama handbook with new paperwork she’s filed.

According to TMZ, Halle is asking the court for permission to move to France with Nahla, and of course Gabriel is not having it. Her ex-man says he feels the move is punitive and is only being done to stop him from having any contact with his daughter, plus he isn’t thrilled with the fact that Halle will be living with her French boo Olivier Martinez.

While I’m sure that’s part of Halle’s motivation to move, you can’t help but see this as a ploy to keep Nahla away from Gabriel, especially pending the outcome of child endangerment accusations. But with speculation that those allegations were made up, plus this plan to move abroad, it seems like Halle wants to pretend like Gabriel isn’t her child’s father at all.  As tempting as it may be, you should never use your child as a pawn to get back at an old lover.

What do you think about Halle’s sudden wish to move to France? Do you think the judge should grant her permission?
