Sometimes an artist takes the stage and blows everyone away with a great performance. And sometimes, the performance is overshadowed by an embarrassing outfit blunder. Hey, it happens to the best of them. Check out the worst celebrity performance outfits ever.
After living in the shadows of her big sister Toni Braxton, and then her other sisters, Tamar has finally stepped into the spotlight all on her own. The “Love and War” singer took to the stage at the 2013 Soul Train Awards in a risqué outfit and immediately there was a backlash on social networks. Many believed the sheer outfit, complete with black sequins to cover up her goodies, was a distraction from her singing ability. Not one to let the criticism keep her down, Braxton responded to the flack via twitter: “I’m NOT on the red carpet & if u like my performance & outfit thank u if not pray 4 me.”
Soap operas are pretty much a dying genre now, but there was a time when daytime television shows were a springboard to launch some of Hollywood’s biggest careers. Don’t think so? Here are 15 stars who got their big break on the soaps.
Brad Pitt may have turned heads as a hitchhiker in the 1991 movie Thelma & Louise, but the future Hollywood hunk began his acting career on daytime television. In 1987, the Curious Case of Benjamin Button actor appeared on two episodes of “Another World” as Chris. Pitt also appeared on an episode of “Growing Pains” that same year. He went on to have a hugely successful career in Hollywood and a successful dating life before settling down with Jennifer Aniston. Although that marriage didn’t work out, Pitt has found happiness with actress Angelina Jolie.
You may recognize the face but do you recognize the voice? Some of our favorite actors and actresses have earned a living by doing voice work on the side. Here are 15 celebrities whose voices have starred in animated movies and cartoon shows.
Although he starred in the “Rugrats” television cartoon series, pet dog Spike didn’t actually speak until the 2003 Rugrats Go Wild movie. Best known as John McClane in the hugely popular Die Hard franchise, Willis lent his voice to the lovable dog. This isn’t the first time he’s done voiceover work; Willis voiced baby Mikey in 1989’s Look Who’s Talking, which co-starred John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. A year later he reprised his role in the sequel Look Who’s Talking Too.

Before finding love with her current fiancé Olivier Martinez, Halle Berry has a string of failed relationships. After two divorces, the Academy award winner didn’t let her single status deter her from becoming a mother. The two have since broken up and are currently embattled in a narsty custody battle that has played out in the courts and the media.

Don’t hate Keri Hilson because she’s beautiful, ya’ll! The “Pretty Girl Rock” singer is clearly doing big things even if it has been a while since she’s put out new music, because world-renowned modeling agency, Wilhelmina International, Inc, just signed the 5’9″ star as one of their new models. Hilson is joining a long list of beauties who are also singers, including folks like Fergie and rapper Iggy Azalea. According to Juicy Magazine, Hilson is still working on music even as other opportunities open up, putting together her third album as we speak.
But don’t get it twisted, Hilson is signed to the artist management division, so you won’t see her walking the runways or anything like that, which she made clear on her Twitter page:
I am not a model. Nor do I aspire to be a model. I’m signed to @WilheminaModel Artist Mgmt division. Very excited about our new venture!!
But under their management division, Wilhemina will try and secure a bevvy of things for the talented chick, including the opportunity to be a spokeswoman for different products (like how they got Iggy Azalea to be the face for House of Holland Eyewear), they will try and get her endorsements, product lines, sponsorship and more, so expect to see her face just about everywhere very soon. With her height and her frame (which she can thank years of swimming for), I have a feeling Keri will get a lot of work and make a lot of moves. Either way, it’s a great look for her as a black woman and as a musician, because we know in the industry it’s more about pushing yourself as a brand since albums are NOT selling. But anywho, congratulations Keri, aka, Ms. Keri-Ba-By!
Every year, the Grammys are as much about the music as they are about the fashion. Last night during the 54th Annual Grammy Awards was no exception. The artists did their part musically as they entertained us with their performances - including Jennifer Hudson’s moving tribute to the late Whitney Houston. Still, fashion-wise, we were just as entertained by the stylish and style-less choices.
Check out our gallery of the best and worst dressed gals of the Grammys.
True to form and in her own words, Rihanna keeps things “simple, Hot and a lil’ gangster” in a black Armani gown and pointy toe Christian Louboutin heels. She actually co-designed her plunging, backless dress with Giorgio Armani and was inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in Scarface. She accessories with gold donning a thin necklace, multiple gold rings, an arm cuff, and a few bracelets. Her newly blonde locks are messily tousled and compliment her complexion well. Rih Rihi’s makeup artist, Mylah Morales, kept the focus on Rihanna’s sultry eyes by linning them in dark shadow. She kept the rest of her look natural with bronzed cheeks and pale pink lips.
Verdict: BEST. Rihanna looks amazing! Say what you want about her, but she is stunning! She’s looks age appropriate, fresh faced, and do we really have to mention what great shape she’s in? My personal favorite of the night.
Celebrities basically sign up to have their lives exposed to the public once they appear on the big screen, or sell out a concert venue. But does that include their personal lives? Unfortunately for them yes, but lucky for us sometimes details about their lives can make for quite a juicy read. Although most actors and actresses can hide behind their “role” and “character” to act a certain way and therefore serves as an excuse for what they are portraying, there are no excuses once the cameras turn off and their real personal lives are exposed. Sometimes their personal lives are even more interesting than their on-screen performances! Check out these 9 celebrities who openly admitted to lesbian affairs, well, after the paparazzi had caught them a few times!
Tattoos and piercings used to be the ultimate rebellion against a white-collar world filled with Windsor knots and pearl pendants, but nowadays it’s almost as if going traditional in the skin you were born in is what will really get you some stares. I never was a big fan of getting something reflective and “deep” scribbled in permanent ink beneath my epidermis, but putting a hole where there once was none has always intrigued me. Where tattoos can sometimes be a wordy passage that is only important to the wearer, for me a piercing is like putting an exclamation point on the part of your body you think is the sexiest; a sexclamation point, if you will. Being a professional, it’s important to me to get a piercing that is subtle yet Hot, so while you won’t catch me rocking any snake bites, I’ve been researching the next part of my body I’d like penetrated by a needle, besides my ear lobes and navel. Thinking about getting poked somewhere else besides Facebook? Take a look at this guide to some of the most popular piercings:
Fergie has performed all over the world, married a fellow celebrity and designed a fashion line. It only makes sense that her next step was to get a fragrance.
