T.I. is pretty highly regarded around these parts. The thuggish rapper turned family man is pretty appealing. And as we speculated, he is one of few positive representations of black fatherhood on television right now.

And his stock just went up as far as we’re concerned. T.I. and his wife Tiny made history by having themselves and their six children animated for Vh1’s holiday special called, “T.I. and Tiny: Holiday Hustle Special.”

The special follows the family from Atlanta to the North Pole as they try to find a missing Santa Claus. Apparently, an elf Cyrus tells T.I. that the only person “who could save the King of the North Pole was the King of the South.” So the family takes a candy-striped van to solve this dilemma.

I don’t know about you but I think that’s pretty darling. There can never be enough holiday movies. And there’s nothing wrong with incorporating elements of the hood into the holidays.

Anyway, if you have a few minutes, 39 to be more specific, or you just want to see some animated black folks, check out the video below to watch the entire special.

T.I. and Tiny’s Family Hustle Gets Another Season

If you loved watching T.I. and Tiny get their family hustle on during the first season of their VH1 reality show then you’re in luck—it’s been renewed for a second season.

Averaging 3.5 million views every Monday night, it’s not surprising VH1 is bringing the whole family back for round two. T.I. told Forbes taping for season two will begin soon, and the premiere is expected to come sometime in the Fall.

VH1 takes a lot of heat for the negativity in some of its reality shows like “Love and Hip Hop” and “Basketball Wives,” which along with T.I and Tiny’s show, have made the network the no. 1 cable channel on Monday nights among women ages 18-49, according to Eurweb. But I’d say the family element of this show definitely balances out the other craziness on the network and shows a side of T.I. we rarely see. Good for them!

Are you happy there will be another season of T.I. and Tiny’s Family Hustle?

Clutch Answers the Question We’ve All Been Asking: Why Tiny?

February 20th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

OK, so maybe we all haven’t been asking this, but as a lover of T.I. I can admit I have been a hater of Tiny. And as my Twitter timeline often shows on Monday nights, and obviously author Shahida Muhammad’s as well, lots of women find themselves asking, out of all the women T.I. could have, why did he choose Tiny?

As Shahida points out in her case for Tiny, the question over T.I.’s choice is totally rooted in superficiality. We make comments about Tiny’s face, shape, hair, clothing, and everything else on the outside to suggest Tip can do better without any thought for the fact that she’s a good mother, a talented singer/business woman, a devoted wife—you know all those things we should be looking for in a partner. You could argue that “ghetto” is an internal trait, but considering T.I. is straight from the hood, that argument is only going to get you so far.

But we’re also being hypocrites when we criticize her. Shahida writes:

“We often call out artists for constantly displaying such unrealistic and unhealthy images of women in their videos, but when we see an artist settle down with someone like Tiny she gets ridiculed.”

You can’t argue with that point at all, and it says a lot about how men bring out the worst in women when it comes to jealousy, cattiness, and wanting something they’ve got.

As T.I.’s Family Hustle has gotten through more and more episodes, I find myself thinking these two are the cutest, country couple I’ve ever seen. The way they interact, their Atlanta accents, even both of their short statures make them look like the perfect match on the outside—and as a few Clutch readers pointed out, if you happen to think T.I. is nothing more than your average, ordinary dude in the looks department, then the question becomes why not Tiny?

Whatever the couple has that attracts them to one another seems to be working. They’ve been together for 10 years with minimal rumors of infidelity, and T.I. doesn’t skip out on a chance to acknowledge his wife for holding him down throughout years of legal battles. At the end of the day, those are real examples of love and honor that will get you to the alter if you’re looking for something real; not looks. T.I. appears to have made the right choice.

Have you ever questioned why T.I. chose Tiny? (Be honest) What do you think about the couple? Perfect match or he could do better?

Are T.I. and Tiny Expecting?

February 1st, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

WARNING: This post could be a bit of a spoiler, but if you watch T.I. and Tiny then you likely already saw the preview of next week’s episode.

In a sneak peek clip for Monday’s show, we see Tiny telling her daughter and TIP that she’s pregnant. The oldest daughter doesn’t take the news too well, and T.I. doesn’t quite know how to react to the possibility of becoming a father of seven.

Since the preview aired, some reports have claimed that Tiny was seen at Phillips Plaza a couple of weeks ago and she appeared to be trying to hide the fact that she’s expecting. On the other hand, a conflicting “rock solid” source supposedly told MediaTakeOut that Tiny is not pregnant, but you never know what to believe there.

Hopefully if Tiny is expecting, all is well with the baby. In 2007, she and T.I.’s daughter was born stillborn due to complications during the pregnancy, and they’ve expressed that they’d like to have more children together. It’s also possible Tiny had a false reading on a home test or jumped the gun a bit so we’ll have to check out Monday’s show to get the full story. Either way, we wish them luck with their potentially expanding family!

Have you been watching T.I. and Tiny’s Family Hustle each week?
